I just wanna remind everyone that many of these TikToks of people saying they’ve got a one-bed apartment / house as a new graduate either have rich parents, are faking the content, or are ESCORTING! Don’t let social media fool you into thinking you need to have all this money just after graduating!

Last year I started looking for a summer job. I had no experience and it was going to be my first job. I spent all summer trying to find jobs because these basic fast food/retail jobs weren't responding. The interviews I did manage to get never contacted me afterwards ghosting me. Right when I was about to go back to school this one place called me and hired me, but then got mad because I couldn't work weekday's now that I was back in school. I eventually looked farther and managed to get an entry level job fairly quickly an hour away. All this to say is that something is wrong. It should not have taken me commuting an hour away to get a entry level high school/college 11.00$ job to secure one. One of my friends is having similar issues but she has 2 years of experience. Plus being promoted to an assistant manager and nobody calling her for these basic jobs either.

I can’t count how many videos ive seen of people talking about how they are struggling with full time jobs and degrees.. when is it gonna be enough? Most of gen z is not able to move into a freaking studio apartment bc they cost around the same as a 1 bedroom depending on the city. That is extremely alarming. And lets not talk about jobs not hiring people even with experience.. i can’t stand part time jobs that expect you to have open availability all week. That defeats the purpose of having a part time like hello…

I honestly get super confused. No matter how rich or how many properties, I enjoy being able to be with my parents. I'm not sure what kind of freaky stuff these people are up to but unless it's full on walking around naked all day or who knows what, utter confusion and honestly would not care to know. The fear that your parents are gonna hide to catch you with your dick out is one of the most insidious things I have heard a person say to me in my lifetime. This dude decided we were good friends and just divulged this to me randomly like we were sharing some kinda boyhood secret. Nope. I offered a call to 911, then dipped, never to talk to this idiot again.

I really wish I had taken a gap year or two just to save and save and save. I did go to a two year college while staying home. WAY CHEAP! Sadly, my family isn’t rich either so as soon as I started working, my Mom borrowed money from me constantly. Even still today. Had three semesters of college to go before I dropped out. Too much money even with financial aid. Traveling now before I get my own place.

Damn, same with me dee. I had unemployment an financial aid. Though i had my boy look out on on a under the table job so i was still working 😂 You are 100% right about community college. That university shit is a scam. People don't realize a lot of the curriculum an classes are the same, same degrees an some of the teachers even work at both. You'd only have a handful of majors that are regulated to university. An even then all your other classes you can do at community College an just transfer after.

One thing that'll always annoy me from older generations is that they don't under generation struggles because they had it good. Us young people don't live in the same times as boomer parents and grand parents. In their economy at the time they could afford housing and survive on single incomes with mid skills. Nowadays nobody can't afford houses and folks struggle with making overpriced rent. All that before we even get into healthcare, bills, and etc. You need two jobs to barely survive now
@bijoohere568
@bijoohere568 20 күн бұрын
It is only recently getting jobs is hard. I've lived on my own since 21, and I am 32 and getting a job now can take months and that is just to get your rejection letter. That being said, though, I think people are also living outside their means too or aren't looking correctly. It's fine if you don't want to cut back or struggle a little, but the second girl was like literally I don't wanna look for another job, that is on you. To be fair, the job market in America is so shit it is almost like you feel hopeless and lost.

The fact that it’s such a big deal for people to move back in with their parents after college is crazy. Thats what you’re supposed to do. No way you think most ppl are supposed to go to college and then get a good paying job right out of college. It will take you a while to find a job. I moved back in for a year and I’m so thankful for that time because I got to save so much money. I know it’s not possible for everyone but I just wish it wasn’t such a big deal to do it. I thought the conversation would be about 30 year olds moving in with their parents. Now that’s a whole different topic but I still get why ppl are doing it.

Left home at 18 to go to college, it depressed me and I wasn’t strong enough to stay so I left and my mom allowed me to move back home. I’m 28 now, and have a significant amount of debt. I’m paying it off as fast as I can so I can get out of here. I love my mom but we don’t have the best relationship and it’s best if I go my separate way as soon as I can get out of debt.

Want to be honest if you have parents who own a house and you can fall back home and stuff gets bad and you don't have a bad relationship with them. Count yourself lucky a lot of people including me and my family do not have an option some people only are renting and they do not have the option of going back home. And that's not me to say this is not hard trust me I understand rent is very expensive especially depending on the city you are in. And I'm not saying that You all cannot be out here complaining please complain if it's hard. But if you do have that option be happy that you can go home and rest your head knowing that you have a place to stay and people who will let you stay there even if you don't get along with them cuz like I said some people that's it they ain't got nothing else after that they're on the streets they're living out their car they're living in someone basement they're staying at buildings trying to live until they can save up enough to get place to live.

ppl get too caught up with the college they attend. Be smart, go to community college first. It will drastically reduce the cost. If you’re smart you can get grants, scholarships to complete requirements at a university. Don’t come out here in insurmountable debt….employers don’t care about the name of the college, they only care that you graduated. Better yet pick up a trade….unless you’re a STEM major. Get a return on your investment.

There's notjing wrong to move back with your parents, some people are lucky. I did pharmaxy and got lucky that I became a video editor in the music industry so didn't live with my mum after I graduated coz I had a source of income. This economy is shitty world wide so never compare yourself to ohter people who got lucly and are in the minority. If your parents won't let you stay with them after you finish school and figure things out, they don't love you coz they can't be that stupid to figure out how hard things are for our generation

I always find it so crazy how some parents genuinely expect their kids out of their house the moment they turn 18…..huhhh??? Maybe it could also be a cultural difference with me cuz in my culture you ain’t leaving your parents house unless you truly make a lot of money where you can fully support yourself no problem or if you are getting married.🤣 I’m so glad my mom has never pressured me to move out (I’m 20) in fact I don’t even think it’s something she even thinks about. She fully still provides for me no problem even though I have a job. I can’t imagine in this economy anyone having to move out at 18… I understand I’m truly lucky hating my mom is still ok with me staying with her cuz some other people don’t.

I’m 23 and I graduated last December. My off campus lease is up at the end of this month and I’m going back home. I’ve been applying to places constantly since I graduated and have struggled a bit. I did have a job last summer and the employer there told me they could fit me in with some hours when I come back home after i graduate. The reason i am applying to other places is because I wont be able to afford rent if I wanted to get an apartment. Last summer they payed me $12/hr. Apartments where I live are really expensive. But I’ll definitely take them up on that when I move back home and I’ll just save up until I can find another job. Hopefully that’s soon cause I really want my own place.

i dont see anything wrong with you moving back.. if your really trying and working for goals great, another thing if your just fking lazy and not learning from your choices, nah child.. i tell my younger siblings always have at least 1 more type of income from your main source.. saving money is good, but INVESTING is better... now that your young, even in a simple High earning AYP account, put in some bills every month and dont touch it..by the time you hit your mid/late 30s you'll have enough for a home.. the economy is shit, yes.. but seems today people are more focused on what they WANT not need.. they are so lost in wanting a type of lifestyle.. from buying a 50-65k car, going out, outside food, concerts, 1k phones, 200 shoes, $8 overrated coffees everyday (at least 100 a month) ect, all that shit adds up.. not that you shouldn't enjoy your money, you just need to have self discipline and learn how to invest more then you consume..

I stayed at home and went to (basically) a community college. I only worked for two summers, but I had a scholarship that paid for most of my education. That made a huge difference when I started living on my own. I would've been screwed if I went to a traditional university (even with the scholarship). Not everyone has scholarships, so working and saving will be a must. Even if you have scholarships, it's still wise to work and save if you can (with this economy/job market). Things are way harder now than when I was graduating college. But even in an economic crisis, I think this approach is a lot better than nothing (even if it doesn't feel like it now). Good luck!

Hold up!! Y’all Parents paid for your college?? Over here (in Canada it’s not that expensive for college) we pay for ourselves (depends on the program but most of them are affordable)

In our turkish / islamic culture it's actually common for the children to be with their parents until they have a proper income or are married. I actually prefer it that way if someone has a healthy family, one never knows when you'll see your parents the last time so better enjoy the moments u can still hav together in this life

It’s not something to be shameful of but these people kinda seem, especially that San Diego girl, seem like they really didn’t want to t dry to be an adult. Like they got hit “hard” once by life and just threw In the towel

5:07 Wait. Did this girl say she went to Coachella AND Spain after she lost her main source of income??? I mean, if she paid for everything ahead of time I’d get it. But if I was struggling for funds and had to move back home, there is no way I would have those two tasks on my itinerary…
