After an asteroid has fallen into Earth, Australia has twelve hours before the resulting firestorm wipes out everything in its path. Hoping to spend his final hours numb and wild, James heads to his friend’s last party and finds how others spend their last day differently. Along the way, he meets a troubled young girl desperate to reunite with her family before everything comes to an end. Torn between shutting down his emotions and the empathy for the innocent girl, James tries to find another way to reunite her with her family and get to the party before the entire planet bursts into flames.

The thing that makes the movie go from good to great is the final part where Zoe pushes him because he left her at the final moments of their life but only reconciles when MC proposes his love for her and they hug each other till the firestorm envelopes them. If she would've blindly fallen into his arms then it would feel extremely cheap and if she would've rejected him then theovie would've felt empty. Perfect ending for this movie 🔥

Throughout this movie they got all the major points including the ending that they only got a few minutes to embrace before the end, boils down to after him caring about the child he decided to risk getting her to her destination making it a good deed he did even if that meant losing the remaining time he could of had with his girl. It's very interesting if you really think about the whole situation up to the end, few happy moments for the characters and some sad but what matters is what you chose to do with the time you had left and he tried to do the right things.

When the comet flies over earth the people who did things to her: IM GOIN TO JAILLL
@cainabel2009
@cainabel2009 2 жыл бұрын
The thing that makes this movie real is that people will always revert to their base form if they think the world is ending. If that day happens I hope there are people like James around who still have morals and are still willing to do the right thing. For example, there is a comet called Halley’s comet which passes by the Earth approximately every 76 years, but in 1910 when it passed near the Earth, people thought that it would destroy the Earth either by collision or by the gases it contained. This caused a worldwide panic which was spurned on by a hostile press who printed things like "Comet may kill all life on Earth says scientist". So, what did the so-called civilized people do to try and avert this crisis, well a group in Oklahoma tried to sacrifice a virgin to ward off impending doom, and people started selling bottled air. The comet tail passed through the Earth and with no apparent effect. Now one might think that was in 1910 and we have evolved a lot since then, after all it been a hundred and twelve years, but if you look around in the news you will see peaceful protests which have turned to rioting after a few individuals have used it as an excuse to riot, and then through crowd mentality more people join in until it now contains thousands of civilized people looting, rioting, stealing, causing mass damage to property and I dare say "rape" as well.

I think you missed the point entirely: while you're still alive, and while there's still time, it's possible to redeem oneself, to change and be a better person; to do the right and selfless thing. In the end, despite all the tragedy he faced, by doing the morally right and selfless thing, he was granted some measure of redemption and peace. It was not predetermined that he'd do the right thing. In fact, he quite clearly was on the path to the same selfish, empty and emotionally painful end as the other partiers. It took a modifier, in the form of an innocent and vulnerable child, to change his behavior. It was this "moral mirror" (a common device in morality tales) that proved the catalyst for change, by illustrating just how repugnant he and his cohorts had become. It's a morality and redemption tale, and a pretty basic one at that. But it's also beautifully acted, extremely well written, carefully directed, with visually arresting atmosphere and cinematography. It's right up there with 1959's "On the Beach" as one of the best entries in the "end-of-the-world" genre.
@theguest6127
@theguest6127 2 жыл бұрын
@@smakfu1375 I think your are the one missing the point, what he saying is that people who do the right thing only do so because there is no existential crisis where the law is still govern and there are still severe consequences for your actions, but what happens when those consequences, laws are no longer enforced because of an existential crisis (for example world ending etc) where they appears to be no hope, only a few people would chose to do the right thing while others will revert to their basic primal instincts such as stealing, looting, causing damage, violence, etc. You have seen the movie the purge (there is even a TV series now) where ordinary people get one day every year to kill anyone they want without consequences and they chose to. Imagine if there was a law that stated that one day a year you can steal, rob and do anything you want without consequences, how many people who do the right thing will take up that offer. Early I gave you a situation from a movie and a hypothetical scenario, let's now look at real life situation. The London riots which happened in 2011 was meant to protest the death of Mark Duggan at the hands of police, instead it turned out to be a series of looting, stealing, etc that lasted five days. Some people who were arrested where doctors, teachers, etc and even the daughter of a millionaire all arrested not for protesting but for looting, violence, etc so you see basic instincts.
@cainabel2009
@cainabel2009 2 жыл бұрын
@@smakfu1375 I don't believe that I have but putting that aside and going off what you said, you confusing a person true nature or instincts with being a little selfish. It is said that "A person's true nature is revealed at times of the greatest adversity". In the film James ran and started to drink because he wanted to forget that not only was the world ending, and he and his girlfriend were going to die but his "unborn child" as well, so he ran away "selfishly" left his pregnant girlfriend, and started to drink in order to forget, but when adversity reared its ugly head in the form a young girl about to be raped James true nature of being "good" protecting those "weaker" than himself kicked in and he saved the little girl while others would have run, or not cared after all why would it might matter the world is ending in a few hours so it is pretty much pointless James did not.

Movie title is These Final Hours (2013)? Interesting. Added to my list. Watched this recap just yesterday. For me, it was the part where the girl playfully ran after him as he drove away. Still get lumps in my throat just remembering that scene. What/Who was she going back to? I wonder how it felt for the dinosaurs. INTERESTING movie recap.

Me personally, I would have taken the girl with people to find her. The thought of that little girl dying alone haunts me. I would like it if the three of them were there in end, embracing as the end approaches. That is the only part I hated.
@jovayutube

@@cainabel2009 Yeah! The three of them embracing & dying together would've been a beautiful ending. It still would've been tragic but beautiful. I still feel sad remembering that scene. Whoever wrote this, knew how to hit me hard. BEST REGARDS!

Such a scary concept, there are no moral limits what humans will do if we all knew there would be no consequences for our acts. if something like End of the world was going to happen and people would know the exact time, there are big possibility everything that is in movie would happen in real life. 😔
