Welcome to another adventure motorcycle news update. Honda has confirmed that the little CT125 Hunter Cub is coming to Australia and will be released here in August 2020. Honda have also settled on the hefty price of $6999, a big ask for a little 125 motorbike when the CRF250L is $6500...

No we are not happy with price Honda!!! The price of $7500 AUD is ridiculous!!! It is a joke!!!it is an insult!!! How is the CRF250L the same price when it is easily double the bike. Come on go f@#k yourself.

It’s a bloody joke. So many people would love this bike. Thankfully most have the sense to give it a MASSIVE nope 👎 at this price. How could Honda get something so right and then price it sooooo wrong!

I live in the US and have been waiting on the updates for here as well, I heard November. I do like the retro look and I was looking into a super cub as well as a monkey. The reasons for this are, I’m only 5’4” and have sort legs. Also, I’m not really an experienced rider but, would like to have something to put put around where I live. And not a scooter.

Do like the looks of the Honda in the sand color. But that's €4305. Just €500 less then Royal Enfiield Himalayan! Also a vintage-bike, a head-turner (in Europe), an easy ride and much more travel-capable.

The hunter cub in Thailand is about $2,700 US. my thinking is to go to Thailand buy one there ride it around Southeast Asia ship it to Australia, ride it around there then ship it back to Hawaii. I think I can do it all for a little more than the price it would cost in the US Plus air fare. It wouldn't be new by the time I get it home but what the heck, neither will I.
@rzu7120
@rzu7120 3 жыл бұрын
MSRP in the US is $4089 with destination charge, which would be $5550 AUD. Sales tax would be added to this price and varies from State to State. In my State it is about 6.25%. Unless the US and Austrailian versions are substantially different, they have clearly jacked up the price for the Austrailian market.

Beginers like a motorbike that they can drop, and beat up without it causing too much in the way of blemishes. With a few aftermarket parts the ct125 can meet this requirement. Obviously a used one is even better. A low center of gravity is another requirement. Cheap DIY maintenance is also important. If you add versatility, well, that's a plus. The former 110's were used by postal workers for a good reason. If you take into account inflation, and new import tarrifs it definitely notches the price up.

Price is silly, small cc lovers will stick with grom/z125, dualsporters wont bite, collectors have the monkey. IMO if they set price at 5k they would sell 4 times as many, they'd make more money and we'd probably see them everywhere as they are a touch more functional than groms or scooters

Shame, as the exact same bike is much, much cheaper in Thailand. Picked up my new CRF 250 Rally with £500 off it. Hopefully once they've been out a while, dealerships will offer decent discount (hope they do bring the CT-125 here to the UK... will probably be expensive too though)

It is great its coming, but agree the price tag is a little off putting! The question I've been asking and still can't get a straight answer is - Does this new CT125 come with the Hi/Lo gear ratio change switch on the engine casing that the CT110 had? To me this is my show stopper, and if not will it be on the 2021 version - if so I'll wait!

Beautiful little bike, but to expensive for a 125. At such a pricelevel, I'd prefer the CRF250L. Last week, I was told by a Belgian Honda dealer that in 2021, the CRF250L will be replaced by a CRF300L. Now that sounds interesting ...

@@KLRJUNE I was told that this year no more CRF250L's would be imported to Belgium cause a new CRF300L would be coming to Europe in 2021. And the new bike would be a little more powerfull. Probably similar to the CB300R.

I live in 🇨🇦. I expect if (when) it arrives it will be pricy. That being said I am older than dirt with 4 motorcycles already. I will buy it as soon as it’s available. I’ve literally had dozens of motorcycles and this would be my first Honda motorcycle. I’m not adverse to them they just simply haven’t built a motorcycle I’ve wanted at the time. Until now. I have 2 Honda (eu2000, eu7000) generators and a 12-32 track drive Honda snowblower. Being older and mortgage free plus already having several motorcycles I can afford it. As I tell my daughter I’m not leaving money. Just lots of stuff. She says no problem, she can easily sell most of it.

Thailand sells these at about $3,000 USD, and 440,000 yen ($4151 USD) in Japan, U.S. market will be even higher. Bikes sales numbers are dropping like a rock. Harley's will be out of business in the near future. I might just leave the 2 wheeled market all together. I'm a 50 year rider, 14 y/o to 64 now, and I'm not interested in those prices, and I have the money, but I refuse to pay these prices. Japan has never been cheap, but someone has to stop perpetuating these price hikes.

It's a great concept and is actually the most versatile motorcycle on the market, suitable for absolute beginners of any age, commuters, adventure riders and on the back of an RV. Buts its not worth 2 bikes cost. I will wait for the other manufacturers to copy the concept with a much more modern design and at a lower cost. At which point a second hand CT125 wont be worth much more than a CT110

Price is too high. Long term cost in maintainance and parts will be far, far lower than most other bikes however so there is that to consider. I'd also rather drop a ct125 on a trail than a $20-30K Ktm or Bmw...reckon I would be laughing as I picked up the Honda vs shedding a tear.
@gasdive
@gasdive 4 жыл бұрын
You're kidding right? Engine oil, valve clearance and cam chain adjustment every 4000 km. How is that ever going to equate to less maintenance? Sure they're easy jobs, if you know how, but still. That's valve clearances 6 times more often than for my V-Strom. If you don't know how to do it, then you're looking at a couple of hundred in labour every 4000 km. Plus the inconvenience of being without your bike for the day. And, I certainly wouldn't be extending the service intervals. They don't have an oil filter, just a strainer and a centrifugal filter.
@petewebb5149
@petewebb5149 4 жыл бұрын
@@gasdive there's a lot more to long term ownership costs than oil changes and valve checks. The oil changes on the CT are child's play though. Insurance, tyres, chains and sprockets, engine and body parts, seat, shocks, levers, handlebars all cheap as chips compared to your vstrom. But as I said the retail price is too high.

This is an insult to Australia. 125cc bikes in Thailand sell new for around AUD $1,500, on the road. Australian motorcyclists are being ripped off. Often paying 100% more than in Asia. To bring a container load to Australia costs about $2,000. How many bikes in a container? You do the maths. Do not be nice to Honda or the dealers. They are not giving Australians a fair deal.

I've got thousands of hours on postie bikes. If they were 1000 dollars they'd be over priced. I'm no handling snob. I grew up riding early 70's Japanese bikes. But these are just dangerous. The weight is all at the back, the whole front flexes visibly, hung out on the end of a single skinny pole. Braking hard just makes the front wheel hop up and down but you barely slow down. The suspension is awful. Beyond primitive. I can see why it's priced so high. You'd have to be looking for some other experience, not motorcycling. So comparing it to motorcycles for value is pointless. It's the ultimate expression of more money than sense.
