I'm actually rooting for this course and saving to buy this course even though this course is really cheap compared to many courses I've seen but since I'm from india it's cost pretty much And learning blender and getting to know recently like interpolation curves,dope sheet, drivers,shader nodes, rigging and so much more it's kinda overwhelming All I wanted to do is make a little short film but it seems the process is not easy as it seems and I'm kinda reconsidering learning the blender itself or drop it where I am This kind of thought is really really depressing I don't know what to do I like blender and it's community and I wanted to be a part of them but I'm panicking more and my mind running loose,I'm already stuck in a tutorial cycle and I couldn't able to do anything all I do is delete the default cube Hmm pray for me guys to give me strength,I'm really scared in learning the blender and the progression is really aweful

Dear Jostas and everyone in that situation (me included!) There are serious courses like this one, but the are also very heavy and should be intertwined with small fun projects. Grant Abbit has great courses and projects for beginners and people who are happy doing stuff that doesn't necesarilly need to qualify for a AAA Game. Just enjoy and don't put too much of a burden on yourself. Give yourself time to find "your own way" of doing things. Just watching lessons is not the way, and the lack of results while still busy on the subject creates anxiousness. Lots of love and best of lucks. Looking forward to hearing from your best efforts :-)

Great stuff Pierrick! I'm ordering the course right now :). I guess I know the basics already (I mostly work with mocap for games), but I'm curious about all the tricks you share. I was aware of the space switching, but I have never used it with damped track constraints! And it looks super useful. And the "apply visual transform" trick - wow, that was something I was looking for for a long time :).

@ChrisOfTheDead
@ChrisOfTheDead 2 жыл бұрын
I don't use Blender, but this seems like a lot of complicated steps when you could just animate each joint/control and then shift the keyframes of the next joint/control down the rig? I do this all the time on my rigs in Maya with just setting keyframes on my rigs and then shifting the keframes as I go up the spine, down the arms, etc... No real need for constraining or baking joints to objects and then back to joints again.

how do you know which constraints to use? You used copy rotation, copy location, copy transform, child of and damped track... do you have to use them all one at a time? Or could you use copy transform/child of for most of the rotation/translation movements. Also, for copy transform constrtains, could you not select both empty and bone and use object to active from the pie menu to snap it to its location, and then apply visual transform? Also, would an addon like wiggle bones work? i dont know how it works fully, but from my experimenting, it seems to do a very similar thing to this, just a little easier, with sliders/values for how much damping, spring, influence, etc etc. if not, this is still a really easy and useful way to get follow through motions... and id assume it would also work for leading animation by offsetting backwards in time instead of forward in time. Super cool 👍

@ChrisOfTheDead
@ChrisOfTheDead 2 жыл бұрын
In Maya, it's under Edit > Keys > Bake Simulation. But it may just be simpler to animate each joint/control or copy the keyframes down the joint/control chain, set the keyframes to cycle in the graph editor if needed, then just manually shift the keyframes on each subsequent joint/control. Constraints aren't needed to achieve this effect.

Pierrick's Art of effective Rigging is the only comprehensive, up to date resource for Blender that I can think of. Sadly most people are satisfied with slapping rigify on any model just to pose it for still shot and never touch it again and as such there aren't many people either knowledgeable enough or otherwise not sharing their knowledge.
