The Regula Falsi method also known as the False Position method is a numerical method for finding the roots of a function. The method is similar to the Bisection method but instead of bisecting the interval at each iteration it uses linear interpolation to find a new approximation of the root.

Prolly because avg of both of them is 2.5 ,so the intuitive sense tempts us to take a number closer to 2.5

Because you should take least nearer value to the zero.. and 2.7 is the very nearest value to the zero
