If you have an iPhone with eSIM capability you can have up to 8 eSIM’s on the phone with any two active at any given time. You can usually buy straight away.

I am old enough to experience traveling with a paper map but I don’t think I could do it anymore after being spoiled by google maps. Also would really like to know if you could get a SIM card from a convenient store in Japan because I have never heard of that option.

Google maps is definitely a winner for traveling easy!! No I couldn’t find a SIM card in the convenient store. 🤠
