We all suspected something like this was coming down the road but it really did seem like 2023 would give us nothing. Quite happy about it. Both rides seem to be an homage to old rides in that area area of the park (Skylab, Der Spinning Keggers) and there's an Arrow reference too. And have to appreciate AE getting some love. They basically themed the whole area around it.

Yeah I definitely would have guessed we'd get something like this at some point based on their recent patterns, but I definitely didn't suspect anything in 2023 any longer. Great stuff!

I agree. I was surprised by this. But there were clues. Survey markers, trees cut down in the Spring, Slingshot removed.

Yeah same. I could do without the Zamperlas but as far as the theming and everything goes I think it looks really cool.

This area of the park used to be called Oktoberfest and was a nod to Cincinnati’s German heritage. Another example of how corporate and non-individual theme parks have become.

Yeah that’s one of a couple aspects of this I’m not a big fan of. 1.) The new focus on cheap zamperla rides, and 2.) Throwing out the history of this area. On its on, it looks like a nicely themed section, but I do wish they weren’t building it right on top of Oktoberfest.

I’m pretty excited to see this new themed area in person it looks very cool in the concept art and the sol spin looks really cool but I’m not the biggest fan of spinning rides

Yeah ,same on the spinning rides. For me, this is mostly exciting as just a change of scenery, which I think is still pretty cool.

I am looking Sol Spin as an upgrade/homage the old Skylab (individualized seat, hopefully padded, legs free and dangling, very open) kind of akin to a coaster analogy where they (in essence) did an new edition 2.0 version from the original Bat trains/track (w/your legs and lower body enclosed) going around vs. with your legs dangling, and going around the track, like on Banshee... definitely a respectful upgrade to our old Skylab! Thanks to my home park Kings Island!!! Much love! 😍

Didn't expect this either, there were things that pointed to this, but they were very clever, since enthusiast are trying to dig up as much info as possible. Also, with the park being busy with the 50th anniversary, and then KD and CR announcing going year-round, it just so much that was thrown up in the air, nobody could pick out what was happening for 2023, I loved the announcement.

Yeah fair enough there were definitely some signs. What threw me off was doing a "chain wide" announcement day. Once that came and went, I didn't think any new announcements would happen for KI. Glad to be wrong though!

Basically they borrowed off of the success of KDs jungle X perdition themed area.

Lol what? Jungle X-pedition is far from the first themed area ever created. And that jungle theme isn’t some super original idea either…

Good question. My money has been on a 2025 opening for a while, but who knows. CF seems to be changing their strategy.

To be fair, KI is falling behind in the "new Cedar Fair restaurant" game, though I'm not sure one was needed there as Hank's is just on the opposite side of the building and Festhaus is nearby.
