this song is about overcoming addiction, beating depression, it’s about moving on from traumatic experiences, leaving an abusive place/relationship, growing up, achieving your goals. Whenever you get what you want, part of you feels melancholy for that horrible, but familiar feeling you used to feel.

I dont know how to explain that i relate to Simon and this song so much as ive come into being an adult it really does feel like now "im just a normal guy" Im not the kid whos dreaming of going to places that no longer exist . im the one creating the places that dont exist . and im no longer a part of the intense emotions of my youth. no longer part of the madness, just a normal guy .

It doesn't really confirm it, I believe that's just saying another way of "miniseries," which is what this was confirmed to be. Though they can always change that, as Infinity Train was originally a miniseries, but got three more seasons.
