Sweet Pea Lich is legit horrifying, imagine a 10ft babyman with the mind of a child just snapped and started spewing literal nightmares from its mouth. I would probably go insane.

The Lich's speech from gold stars is GOATED, like all his speeches. Man's really got the perfect voice to portray an eternal eldritch horror.

There's a lotta interpretations for The Mountain, I really like it a lot So at the end of the Lemonhope Two-Parter, both Lemongrabs exploded and PB stitched them back together as one organism- The way I see this episode, it's basically going back to the same issue the first black Lemongrab had the whole time: being unable to deal with who he is. He knows the way his mind and heart work is fundamentally different from p much everyone else, and he can't handle that loneliness. Even PB, whom he sees as his mother, can never truly understand him. (I mentioned this before, but back in the day, a number of neuridivergent AT fans related to Lemongrab's struggles, so the writers would sometimes lean into that angle as well) The white Lemongrab had less of an issue with this, cause he always had his brother, but the black Lemongrab's violent personality was shaped by this isolation, and he could never overcome it for real. And now the grey Lemongrab struggles with both of their feelings, anger *and* guilt. I think the head of the mural cracking acting as a trigger for him to set out on his journey alludes to this, too. Like, a crack in the head = "something wrong in your head", aka how many might describe Lemongrab's mind. I don't wanna go on too long, but with this kinda framing in mind, Lemongrab's journey in this episode can easily read as a slightly abstract depiction of contemplating suicide, but he ultimately comes to the decision that he does want to keep going- He ultimately couldn't change anything about himself or how others feel about him, but he has made a certain peace with himself. Even if he can't be loved by PB the way he wants, even if others may prefers Lemonhope, and even if he can't undo his past, it *is* a life worth living for. So at the end, we see Lemongrab fix the crack in the ceiling with one of his "Lemonjohn" candies and be satisfied with that. There's a lotta callbacks to older Lemongrab episodes in this too obvs, one I wanna point out is the frequent use of the word "grease", cause way back in "You Made Me", one of the candy kids calling black Lemongrab "grease" is what effectively kickstarted his mental downfall- so ending this episode with Lemongrab going "Yo, yo, it's grease" is def an intentional detail, highlighting his self acceptance.

I really enjoyed Finn's journey throughout these episodes. In s6ep25 his soul is literally beamed up by the power of the comet. But this wasn't really a comet, it was Finn's dad's ship. Thus, Finn's soul was beamed up by his desire to find his origin, hence all his questions abt the origin of art. In s6ep27 Finn once again has to deal with his physical origin (aka his dad), this time in a less traumatic way. Yet it's still too much for Finn to process. And in s6ep28, in order to purify himself, Finn has to choose between the position he'd like to fill, the position which "should" have him and a butterfly, which as we know is both his spirit animal and his past life, thus representing his true self AND his origin.

When the kids got sent to stay with Lemongrab way back they called him grease. Now he understands how others see him, but he can rely on other Lemons to help fill the cracks.

Sweet pea QUICKLY became one of my favorite characters from this episode alone. He's just so adorable!! TT

Astral Plane starts a really good overarching story about the concept of mortality, existence, ego, earthly attatchments and growth. Mountain of Matthew is an amazing allegory for striving for an unobtainable goal of perfection and drowning in self hatred along the way. It's why Jake wasn't allowed in, He has no earthly attachments and has enlightenment. Finn was allowed in due to so much of his past being hazy along with his still lingering feelings for FP and his hang ups about his Dad. Lemongrab was allowed in because he didn't have a self identity or purpose, he strived to be more than he actually is (Grease). He hated his physical form until the end where he uses said Grease to fix a hole, because that's his existence, he's Grease and he can use said grease to fix the hole inside him too, by loving himself and his existence.

you guys better remember the last thing finn said during the episode with his dad. "okay, when we get back to the tree house, LET ME DO THE TALKING" : )

God casually dies in the first episode and the episode afterwards, the Lich gives us a history lesson of before nothing. Adventure Time really was just *that* good. Not was, is. Always will be. Also makes me wonder if the creators ever went on drugs just to think of new Episode ideas

We all know Gold Stars is goated and everyone is gonna be talking about it but The Moutain is very trippy in general but equally as cool so here's a general explanation: "'The Mountain' isn't about Lemongrab learning to look beyond himself; that was never actually the problem, even though it seemed that way. Lemongrab's actual problem was living with himself, and 'The Mountain' shows him being tempted to give up living with himself, but not giving into that temptation and learning to accept his own existence. His Earldom is finally peaceful, there's no disorder to stress him out, but he's still not satisfied. He gazes at the mural above his bed, which depicts the legend of the Mountain of Matthew, and becomes upset while focusing on a crack in the head of the traveler, representing the darkness within himself he fears. That's when he resolves to leave, to go and test himself inside the mountain so that either way, the problem will have been dealt with. To get to Matthew, he must choose the mirror that reflects best who he truly is. Rather than trying to attain his desires (PB playing catch) or prevent his fears (Lemonhope taking over his Earldom), he seeks to end the division in himself by stopping his two former halves from hurting Lemonsweets. By digging down beneath his surface hangups and neuroses, he is able to get at the heart of his identity, at which point Matthew attempts to seal the deal by making him disgusted with his own flesh using the term "Grease", reducing him to his spiritual essence. Matthew is found to be a being comprised entirely of individuals who chose not to live with themselves anymore, dissolving their consciousnesses and becoming part of a larger whole. Lemongrab has considered this option, but upon confronting Matthew, views him only with contempt. "If you are the head that floats atop the ziggurat, then the stairs that lead to you must be infinite," he says, referring to the emptiness of Matthew's promise, and how the peace he offers is not truly attainable on his path. How Mathew is supposed to represent perfection but "the stairs" or path that leads to perfection is infinite because perfection is unobtainable and the stairs represent the constant struggle to try and reach it. Lemongrab won't stand for this, because infinite stairs are unacceptable, and he destroys Matthew by tossing Lemoncandy into his mouth. The lemoncandies are all that remains of Lemonjohn, who was Lemongrab's son, and represents an incredible capacity for selflessness that must be present in Lemongrab as well. Lemonjohn sacrificed himself for the good of the many, making him the polar opposite of Matthew, who adds to himself at the cost of the many. The lemoncandies are also sour, just as Lemongrab is, and the stark individuality of Lemongrab as represented by the sourness of the candy is too much for the forced harmony of Matthew to bear, and he breaks apart. Upon returning home, Lemongrab plugs up that crack in the traveler's head with Lemoncandy and the phrase "Yo yo, it's grease", reflecting a satisfaction with his own being, using with pride the word Matthew used with disdain in reference to Lemongrab's bodily existence. It's the perfect resolution for his character; there's nowhere to go with a character who's fundamental flaw was their lack of comfort with themselves once they are able to let that go.

If there's anyone on Adventure Time that the Lich should moordle, it's Martin Mertens.
