My gut feeling is that Jeep will be coming out with a factory option similar to this in the near future. Jeep has already responded to the impact the Bronco has made on the market, and a much better infotainment center is a no-brainer!

Neat idea. Nothing I'm in to. Its most likely not water resistant, in a vehicle where the roof comes off, not a good idea. I've been caught in the rain twice with the roof off in my JL. And everything still works as it should. Nice vid, thanks for sharing.

Final product does look stock, but it also just looks like a big screen for the sake of being a big screen. After the wow factor wears off of having a giant screen, I am unsure I'd feel that excited. Curious how well the wireless carplay works on this unit. I havent found a unit that consistently worked, and that goes from aftermarket to OEM. I just revert to plug in for the consistency.

Not sure if you have done this or not, but that JLU needs a spring leveling kit. That heavy bumper makes it dip way down and if you fix it the front end won’t feel so heavy while driving especially during turns.

Cars today have so many gadgets and doohickeys that the driver can be overwhelmed. I have a five-year-old Mazda CX-5 and I still don't know how to use some of the devices it contains. And, of course, the more gadgets, the greater the likelihood some will cease functioning and require repair or replacement. My GPS, for example, provides out-of-date on speed limits and road closures. And my heated seats stopped functioning two years ago. I am making do without the luxury of having my butt hot while driving.

Even if its not good now, hopefully they make it better, this is amazing lol my two fav cars, the jeep n tesla kinda put together is soo beast lol

Yeah hard pass. These "tesla" screen radios usually over time become infested with bugs but it sure does look rral nice.

I don’t even have a jeep, but it’s good to learn.

I’ve installed two similar screens on two different vehicles and they do look cool, better looking than stock radio especially on a base model of an older vehicle without a touch screen but the useless built in apps don’t work. Only the navigation app is useful but still doesn’t work well adding addresses. Then sound (he forgot to mention) is horrible, these units don’t have a built in amplifier like the FACTORY/stock unit so you hardly get any base. The Bluetooth/wireless audio on the microphone is horrible if talking on your phone via the Bluetooth on radio speakers. *Please update your experience after 2 weeks of living with this gimmick of a tablet. I ended up taking these aftermarket touchscreen radios out of my vehicles and replaced with the original stock radio. Bought a smaller screen that glued onto the dash with Apple car play/android and other useful features that’s not directly connected to the car.

Very cool but I also love the simplicity of my 03's dash, just kinda very minimal going on.

I just installed a Stinger Heigh10 in my Wrangler, and it was much more complicated to do all the wiring. Surely this chinese screen loses a bunch of OEM features, to be that simple with so few connections? e.g. steering wheel controls, XM etc. The Stinger is a more well thought through interface of course, with all sorts of gauges etc.

Kinda looks like the links well i had on my denali i loved it. I would spend the little extra and get the linkswell for my jeep

shame I wish they made one that size that mirrored the factory head unit. With my loaded 8.4 and all the options it looks like you have to hunt to find the heated seat buttons and to adjust temps.

Seemed like an easy install compared to some screens but not looking for yet one more computer to comlicate my life!. Additionally, if the jeep is under warranty i wonder if u have a AC / heat issue if they will break chops as jeeps controls are eliminated

Am I the only one who is wondering what happens with the camera?

I don’t like that it requires removing the push buttons for A/C and such. I prefer my Stinger HEIGH10. Doesn’t remove any OEM features. My only complaint is the screen doesn’t look as full with color as OEM. It’s like the contrast is off. I haven’t seen any aftermarket that compares with OEM yet, though.

That's the thing with most things Android, too much bloatware and they just SUCK at UIs. Say what you will about Apple, but they keep it simple and nice. I added CarPlay to the factory Navigation on my 2011 Honda using NavTool. Its not a touchscreen so I use the factory navigation controls to use CarPlay. Its working great, the only downfall is that I have to run audio thru the Aux input and the unit def has a low audio signal, so I lose some volume when using CarPlay. If I plug my iPhone directly to the factory USB input, it's just sounds so much better. So now I have to figure out how to amplify the audio signal coming from the CarPlay interface. NavTool has new interfaces that are digital audio, but not really trying to spend that much more money right now.

I'm curious why you went with this unit in 2021? It still runs android 9.0 (non upgradeable) when aliexpress has similar units with android 11 (latest version) for the same price if not a little less

Warn winches with a wireless handset control on sale once in a while for a good price. They're a little sneaky advertising them by putting the ad. in with other winches usually at the bottom of ad. I love my new JLU-R. My JKU-S was ok but the JLU-R is totally awesome. The factory really upgraded everything almost. L8R Dude!

Great Video. Give me confidence! We are taking on a 2011 Landcruiser V8 with similar Tesla-esque big screen. AND NO INSTRUCTIONS.. So your videos are excellent briefing material for new users! Where we live - Wayze is a must Google maps is almost as good. Massive screen is wonderful for navigation!
