Boriss, my friend! You made a terrible mistake with kvass choice. "Kvassa dzēriens" is kvass drink. It is like kvass + sweet water. It is ment for little gopniks not fully functional gopnik men.

I lived there for 2 years, loved Lido, never touched Kvass but my wife and kids were huge fans of it. Latvian sounds like a Spaniard trying to speak Swedish backwards.

I've stayed there twice lol. Apart from the homeless alcoholics sitting outside and the general feeling if you go out at night they will never find your body it was actually a nice hotel and quite cheap

Met the man of my dreams in Latvia. He now lives with me :D Riga's great, a really beautiful city. Lido is a must-visit, and yes the kvass there really is that awesome. Also Latvian garlic bread kicks the ass of any other kind of garlic bread.

I was in Chernobyl one month ago. I've been exploring Pripyat & Duga radar also I was 200 meters away from 4 th reactor. It's was my best adventure ever. Highly recommending. ;) Oh... I almost forgot. Ukraine it's a pretty cheap country. Trust me. :D

Abadeya similarly to you, I live in England, and the main problem for Latvia is corruption in the government, not the people. You can’t expect the population to shape the economy. If there is nothing there to attract foreign investment or just get businesses to come, which would attract other companies, which would bring money in the country. However, instead of focusing on developing their economy, the politicians chose to hog the money for themselves and spend it on useless shit. Example: 250k spent on the fucking fireworks.
