Our first time in Kentucky: Horseback riding + trying a Hot Brown burger!

3 жыл бұрынWelcome to Kentucky! For our first day exploring in the state we decided to do one of the most iconic Kentucky things we could think of...horseback riding! We spent the morning at Big Red Stables learning about the horses and riding around the property, which was a blast! And after a fun couple hours successfully not falling off the horses, we enjoyed an amazing lunch at a local restaurant with a unique twist on a famous Kentucky dish, a Hot Brown.

Hi y’all! We’re Adam, Kathryn, and Kona, an adventurous married couple (+ pup!) living on the road in our self-converted sprinter van! You can often find us driving all around the US and Canada, scoping out the best coffee shops, eating tacos and ice cream (we're a 5+ taco and 2+ scoop household), and enjoying nature.
We created Adventures of A+K to help busy, budget conscious, and adventurous travelers maximize their vacation time and money wherever they go through detailed travel guides, vlogs, and resources. Our goal: to help you spend less time (and stress!) planning your trip and more time enjoying it!

For anyone wondering how we can claim to have a perfect Kentucky day, but not drink bourbon 🥃...we actually don't drink. 😬 But it was in the chili, so that counts, right? 😉 If you do like bourbon, just add it to this day and you'll be set! 🙌🏼 Safety is our #1 priority and we want to stress that this adventure, and all future adventures, will be done responsibly and with the health of others in mind. Here are the steps we took for this video: 😷Masks and face coverings. We wore our buffs when mounting and dismounting the horse (except when Adam forgot to pull his back up during dismounting 😬) and when in close proximity to others before and after the ride. 🧼 Washing and sanitizing our hands, especially after touching anything outside of the van. 6️⃣ Keeping our distance. We tried to stay at least 6 ft from others during this activity, which was pretty easy during the actual ride.

Next time in Kentucky, let me know and you can stay free in our driveway. Have fenced in yard for your baby and familiar with several places to visit. We are 15 minutes north of Lexington. I am a LEX girl born and bred. Literally jumped up and down when you went to Wallace Station. It’s right down the road from my uncle’s horse farm. I have to go there every time I make it back to LEX (live in your old city, Seattle now). I grew up riding horses. Wish you could have made it to a race because that is such a beautiful experience at Keeneland. Sorry Church Hill Downs, you have nothing on Keeneland. Love that you showed how much care the horses get. They really are loved and treated like royalty.

We drove by Keeneland and wow it looked GORGEOUS! 😍 We love the horses so much and just loved how beautiful the area is. You can tell everyone takes such pride in their properties and it was so much fun driving around. And don’t even get us started on the food 😋😋😋

Looks like those horses are Tennessee Walkers. They're known for having a unique canter that's a lot smoother than other horse breeds. They are a great choice for your first horseback riding experience, especially since you were cantering! Great video as always, A Plus K!

What a beautiful part of the country! I grew up taking vacations to Kentucky...Dale Hollow Lake and Mammoth Cave...I didn’t appreciate this beauty back then...sure wish I would have...what a beautiful state! I loved listening to Adam laughing while horseback riding... it made me smile! You always find the cutest spots to eat...not being a beef eater but you had me wanting to take a bite ( kind of! 😂)! Although, I would have eaten up all of those fries in seconds! Another great vlog...thanks for sharing!

What an awesome Kentucky adventure :) At our Summer Program we would take kids horse back riding and the horse farts brought much laughter and distraction from the modest fear the kids may have had. I would always say not to worry or take offense they were just blowing kisses in their own way LOL. My girls would love that beautiful farm. Thanks for sharing and much love

@Adventures of A plus K Ft. Knox, Elizabethtown, and Bowling Green throughout the years. There is so much to see in KY. Have you all been to a cave there or elsewhere? That's definitely something to do, and a "wild cave" tour if you can for sure rather than just a walking tour. 👍

Love horses ❤️ My first horse was an Arabian mare named Darcy, l had her from l was ten to sixteen. I gave Darcy to my cousin who had her for the rest of her life, Darcy lived to an old girl of thirty two ♥️ My other two horse's is an Quarter horse named Foxy, he is a very big boy 18.5 hands high, my husband mostly rides him. Then my baby Attila, an Arabian stallion who l have had his entire life, he's 15 hands and a joy to ride!!😊🍁

Love Kentucky! One of my childhood memories is going to Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo in Horse Cave , KY. They let you pet kangaroos and there is a cave tour!

The trees on Old Frankfort Pike should have been beautiful. Kentucky is a beautiful state. I moved here in 2005 and met some great people. They are all very friendly (but terrible drivers!)

We wore our buff when mounting and dismounting, as was required by the stable due to the very close proximity we had to them. As we have stated at the beginning of all of our videos since June (and in a pinned comment), we are taking every precaution to keep ourselves and others safe while we travel right now. I am so sorry that our desire to keep others healthy offends you so much.
