Why you both do not have triple the subscribers is beyond me. I'm mid 70's with a hip residue from a bad car/pedestrian accident decades ago so you do the walking for me now. We camp northern BC, Yukon and Northwest Territories yearly so I can still get out there, its the hiking I miss. You both fulfill that

Y'all - I have watched other full-timers' Alaskan trips and yours has by far been the most entertaining, informative, well-rounded and exciting. Your video work and editing skills are superb. You hiked to areas that are physically impossible for me, but your videos made me feel like I was there. Hopefully, I will be retired in the next couple of years and Alaska will be at the top of my to-do list,. Your videos will definitely help point the way. Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking us along with you on this amazing adventure!

Thank you, Thank you. I graduated from college in 1977, threw all that I owned in an old jeep and drove the Alcan to Anchorage. I worked at Providence Hospital for a year and tried to explore the area as much as possible. I made it to alot of the places you visited, but your hikes and commentary really went above and beyond my experiences. I spent a week camping out on the end of the Homer spit, and I still think Homer Alaska is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Thanks again for the nostalgia.

Love this. My first of three summers in AK, I brought shorts and no rain gear. TG for Fred Meyer. I had to buy layers, rain gear, rain boots, etc. Though it was often warm enough for short sleeves many days, it rained almost every afternoon. A couple of times it snowed in July. I spent my summers about 40 miles east of Fairbanks and about the same north of Delta Junction, dropped off by a bush plane into the wilderness, though there were hunting cabins. I’ve always wanted to go back and explore, yes, the places you can drive to and then hike, backpack or just be a tourist. Am taking notes.

Glad you had fun up here. The mosquito situation is location and season dependent. Lowland areas with mostly swamp/tundra/wetlands and no wind have horrid bugs. Higher elevations and rocky rivers are less of an issue since there is no breeding grounds.

Hey guys, thanks for your awesome videos of Alaska we watched all of them as you released them then again as we prepared for our 2024 season in Alaska, and tonight I rewatched this one as we are parked at a pull out on the Turnagain. We really appreciate all of your tips and information. BTW Starlink now works in Alaska 👍👏 We work full time 9-5 est job and must have good connection and we are thrilled that the coverage has been great. Our biggest challenge is finding a spot without Trees or mountains blocking GPS 😊 but we are in a 35' class A and have always found a good spot. I hope you guys have had a good respite and can really enjoy your travels you guys are really good and will be successful it just takes a lot of time. Take care

Great series guys! I just got back from a solo van trip to Alaska and did a lot of the same things you did and boondocked in a lot of the same spots (I went Talkeetna-Valdez-ferry to Whittier-Cooper Landing-Seward-Portage Glacier area then tent camped at Brooks Camp in Katmai). You've given me some great ideas for things I missed for the next trip (already planning, of course!). I can STRONGLY recommend Katmai for your next trip (flights are expensive, but the campground is not, and the bears will blow your mind). Also, if you get back to Seward, the Northwestern Glacier was unbelievable, as was kayaking at Aialik Glacier (but tbh, the Northwestern Glacier was really out of this world - top 3 for me along with the Harding Icefield trail and, obviously, those Katmai 🐻😍). Also, since you both loved Valdez (me too) the ferry trip to Whittier is stunning and a cuts down on driving back. I really had other things planned for next summer, but now you've filled my head with ideas, so back to Alaska it is (plus I gotta go back to Katmai to see my bears). Keep up the great work - your channel is my favourite planning tool!

We really wanted to do Katmai, but just couldn't swing the price. We'll definitely bite the bullet on that one someday! The ferry ride to Valdez sounded awesome, but again it was the price...plus that drive is incredible. We definitely want to check out those glaciers you mentioned though and do more things on the water! Thank you so much for watching!

I’m a bit late watching your fantastic videos from Alaska. The mountains and fjords are very similar to those in western and northern Norway. We do have a mountain area that boasts a spectacular view of two lakes, green and blue, along the Besseggen day hike. It’s a highlight of that hike, in addition to a narrow pass everyone is nervous to climb - or descend. I’ll continue to watch your blogs, both old and new. It’ll take some time to catch up! 😁

Thank you for a great tour of Alaska. We could hardly wait for each new video. We loved Valdez when we were there & wish you'd had a clear day there. Though we savored your whole trip, we especially loved your videos on Hope, Whittier, Kennecott, your hike to the red cabin, & the great summary video. Glad you had a good experience on the boat seeing the glaciers calve. We had high winds & a rainstorm the whole day. :( In your summary video, we both guessed at which ones you'd choose in each category, and bingo, we hit most of them. You two are amazing. You make it all fun! Can't wait for your (our) next adventures. PS You must have REALLY liked Alaska to make your logo "AK". HaHa.

We are finally caught up with your videos! We just watched this one last night. We really enjoyed Alaska with you; you did a wonderful job! I loved these "favorites" to help us plan a trip if we get to that point! I could tell the weather wasn't the greatest but your videos still captured the beauty of the area! Weather can be such a big issue; we had some smoke which put a damper on our trip but we still got good pictures and on our last day in Glacier NP, it was the clearest and that's when I really took a lot of pictures. When you plan and plan and spend money, the last thing you want is smoke covering up the mountains! LOL We were on our own 2 week trip to Montana and enjoyed doing our own wildlife count (even doing the high 5's!): 2 Bears; 3 Eagles; 2 Moose; 1 Fox; 1 Osprey; 1 Hoary Marmot; 1 Woodpecker that put a show on for us; 2 Turkeys; 2 Mtn goats; Partridges; Hawk; deer; chipmunks and squirrel! lol We did make it to the Garnet Ghost/Mining Town - it was fun to be able to go into some of the buildings. After MT, we got covid, so we're getting caught up on life! Keep up the great work; looking forward to watching the Dawson City video!

The weather was tough at times, but thankfully it worked in our favor when we really needed it to! The thing about the North is you have to be able to live with the rain and changing weather or you're going to have a miserable time. We were also thankful we didn't experience much wildfire smoke during our trip That's a solid wildlife count! Nice! Garnet Ghost Town is really neat! Bummer about Covid...we hope all is well!

Best compliment I can give is that we integrated places you stayed and visited into trips to San Diego, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree and Bend OR this year. We stumbled on the channel after your visit to our hometown of Tucson. You nailed it here and we were hooked. Can’t wait to see what’s next. As coffee aficionados any favorite Austin TX places from your past time there? We head into Austin this week.

June visiting is suggested in your video. Our experience in early June of 2008 was that there are no salmon anywhere, so there are no whales or other wildlife in the waters. June 15 was mentioned as about when the salmon arrive. We had one rainy day over two weeks and saw Denali everyday for a week. Great job on this and all of your videos.

The first hike is the advanced level for sure, but the end result is worth it! Hatcher Pass is in my back yard, it's right outside of Anchorage. There are parts of the Chugach Mountains that could be a national park. I have hiked to Glacier National Park and have noticed comparisons to the Chugach mountains. The vast mountains, valley and the snowy peaks are all here in your backyard. Just a short drive from Anchorage, Bear Valley is the gateway to these great vista views. Look down into the valley, towards Rabbit Lake with Suicide Peaks in the background. There are hidden hiking trails that follow the ridge-line up to get a grand view of these peaks. These trails are less traveled, no fee stations, just waiting for you to explore.

This is great! There was so much I could comment on from my own trip, but when you were going through the camping spots, I started to realize we may have been very close to each other. I stayed at the Trail Lake Lodge in Moose Pass the nights of both July 4 and 5. The view of the lake at 6 in the morning with the sea plane sitting there was beautiful, peaceful, and very Alaskan. Seward books up on July 4, but Moose Pass is perfectly good for those of us that stay in hotels. Then on July 11, I was heading west after the Lion's Head Trail toward Palmer along the Glenn Highway when I spotted a van down by the river (I couldn't help it) that looked almost exactly like Brisket. If you were at the Matanuska River camping spot during the afternoon of 7/11, then perhaps I saw you. :) Thank you once again for all these videos! My big trip for next summer will be a PNW loop through Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, so I have a feeling you might be hitting some things on the way down that I'll be very interested in (just as you already have on the way up)!

Hey James! Sorry for the delayed response! We were at Trail Lake in Moose Pass on July 4th! But we were in Wasilla on July 11th recovering from Covid. If you need any help with things to do in the PNW check out our website and definitely send us an email as it gets closer and you know what areas you’ll be going to. We’ll help out in anyway we can! No worries! In such a huge state like Alaska, it's funny we actually wound in the same town for one night. My big challenge with PNW is prioritizing; there is so much to see, and there is so much I've learned from watching your videos. The one specific question I'm researching is which two or three day hikes in North Cascades (or the surrounding area) are best. I know I'll be studying that. Thank you always for all the great work you do! Looking forward to what you find on the way back to Texas!

We highly recommend the Dempster. We didn't do the Dalton so we can't compare, but just from our research it seems there is more to do along the way on the Dempster and you have more freedom of getting in the ocean at the end of the road. Thank you so much for watching!

That is my concern about an Alaska trips. If you think you didn't scratch the surface at an 'effective month' most people are going to be challenged with 1-2 weeks!. So I can see sticking with one area. I may be cruising up in May (1 week) and then a week inland. I feel like it's a trip of epic sacrifices😁 Also the fact we really enjoyed the Canadian Rockies so it had some competition haha - so I am hoping it inspires!!!
