how long did the filming permit take to process in real life? most people have been complaining but it's rare they're getting permits, so that was nice to see that it wasn't a show stopper to get it.

Thank you for this video. My husband and I and our son used to go to Sequioa and Kings Canyon every year. Now our son is grown and married, and my husband had a stroke a couple of years ago, but this brings back lots of memories. One year, when my husband was fishing in that river in Kings Canyon, he lost a silver pipe that I gave him one Christmas. Did you know that at one time, Disney wanted to make Kings Canyon into a ski resort. I'm so glad that the plan failed because that place is too beautiful to get commercialized!😊

I love watching your videos. We have been traveling the United States since we retired. We used to do the long hikes, but we can still enjoy them by watching yours. I keep seeing your videos and thinking, “We were there!” or “We did that!” I really would like to pick up a few more places that you’ve gone that we haven’t. Thank you for taking the time (and money) to do the work so you could film in the national parks. I don’t agree with them forcing that and we’ve seen a lot less pictures of NPs because people can’t or won’t do that. I certainly appreciate it.

Brought back great memories from when I visited both parks back in October 2019! Learning about the importance fire plays for the trees impressed me, too. There was a controlled burn happening when I visited, too. And after I climbed Moro Rock, I found it quite funny that I passed by a Toyota Sequoia (ha!!!) in the parking lot covered in National Park stickers. I said to myself, "I wanna hang with THAT family!!!" Thanks again for sharing!!!! And congrats on wrapping-up the 9 CA NPs (I've just got Channel Islands left on my CA list now)!!

I enjoy visiting national parks in their shoulder seasons before they're so crowded. True, there might be some things you can't do because roads aren't open yet but having trails and views to yourself is pretty awesome. And like you said, you get to do some things you might not otherwise.

I think it’s important to note that both sequoia and kings canyon national parks are very vast, it will take you at least 2.5 hours to drive from the entrance of sequoia to the very end of the road at kings canyon. Also, it’s a very windy road with some gut-wrenching turns, so prepare for that! A camper van is a must! 🌳 I did most of it in one day and quickly regretted it, this was due to all of the park-and-camping spots being closed due to COVID-19. It's better to take your time and take it all in.

We live in CA and camp at Sequoia/Kings every summer! I love that you finally came. We most often camp at Hume Lake which surprisingly often has last minute summer availability even if we have to watch for a cancelation. You would have seen the campground walking around the lake. We’re plotting out our next Sierra Nevada trip now. We sometimes go to Bass Lake and do Yosemite as well which is farther coming from So Cal. I’m glad you showed the river levels of Kings River in recent years it has been at record setting levels, higher than what I see it is this year. You’re coming around peak flow season too. I’m glad to see you were able to go as far as Grizzly Falls. Last year we changed things up and camped at Grant Grove Village Area. As for Price is Right…not sure if you’ll read this but you can watch it and it’s filmed in CA. Tickets are free and anyone watching has a change to be selected to be a contestant. You get something like a mini interview walking through the line. I think they just want to get an idea of everyone’s personality to base who they select on. I went once long ago. A friend of mine has actually been selected and won the whole showcase at the end too. Her huge tv and living room furniture is from winning which is funny to think. Go to on-camera-audiences.com for tickets!

Love this video. Love all your videos. At the beginning of the video, Kathryn mentioned that the two national parks are being managed as a single entity. There is another two park system on the North American Continent managed as a single entity, but A & K have only been to one of the parks I believe. Before reading on, can you guess which are the two parks? Hint! One is in Montana. NOW GUESS... The Montana one is easy...Glacier National Park. It's sister park is Waterton National Park in Canada. Together, they are managed as a single park system by two different countries. Combined they are referred as the International Peace Park.

We always enjoy your adventures. This one was great as these mountains were my happy place growing up. My dad brought every visitor we had up to see the big trees! My aunt has a cabin at Hume and we have spent many weeks up there summer. We even renewed our vows for our 35th up there. You were lucky to be there early. They have a very large camp that fills up most weeks through the summer.very noisy. Enjoy Yosemite, that is another of my favorites. We moved to the PNW 45 years ago, but still visit my 92 year old mom every year. In fact she is at Hume now for the summer. Have fun, enjoy life!

For such a big tree, Sequoias have a very compact root system, which individually isn't enough to support such a tall tree. However, in the forest, the roots of several trees intertwine in a way that they effectively support each other. That's a beautiful analogy when applied to human relationships.
@AdventuresofAplusK
@AdventuresofAplusK Ай бұрын
Very interesting! We did learn that their root system is surprisingly not as big as you'd think. Didn't know that about them joining together. Love the analogy!

We spent a week in April at Yosemite and Sequoia NP's. A little early... Moro Rock and Tunnel Log were closed off due to snow, but we got to see General Sherman and General Grant. We stayed at the KOA campground in Visalia while at Sequoia NP (very nice campground!) and at the Yosemite RV Resort while at Yosemite NP (also a very nice campground). Both were good locations to see each park. Oh, my order of Bowl & Kettle came in early (I chose the crawfish and chicken options) and will be trying them soon. Oh, and another big OH!, congrats on 200K! Well deserved and will be here with you for many more. Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL

It’s too bad you couldn’t get all the way down to roads end in Kings Canyon. Jumping off Muir Rock in late summer into the emerald green Kings River is one of my fave things to do in all of the Sierra. The hike to Mist Falls out of Roads End is absolutely magnificent as well. Sequoia and Kings Canyon were so epic! Yosemite was too! Were finishing up that edit this week! It would be fun to climb Half Dome, but we didn't try for the permit and they wouldn't have let us film it anyway 😏 Thanks, Al!

Loved it! Visited the area for the first time last year and loved Seqouia so much. Also did Panoramic Point but it was so foggy when I had went up
