the prototype is XPG3 led, the final version is XPL HD LED.

A 20w type-c PD charger and cable (minimum) are likely required for a 4a charge current(5v4a=20w), but the same input wattage could come from your oem samsung charger. It will be more like 9v 2.22a=20w from the samsung charger though. Standard usb cables can only handle 3a, so a work around for this problem is to increase the voltage of the input. This is the fundamental operating principle of PD (Power Delivery) Volts×Amps=Watts

Thanks Matt! By the way and I just remembered, I built your lumen tube lumen measuring device last year out of white plumbing elbows etc and, meter, glass, foam, known lumen brightness torches and oem batteries and other stuff from KZfaq. I haven't used it yet, it is for bench testing all my torches during a future life in the Australian Outback when the Camps close and we can travel between the city and the country again! Great video Matt! All your testing and feedback on this interesting light is appreciated. On the balancing charger, I'm not so sure it is actually a balancing charger. Two or more cells connected on parallel will balance themselves, so I think it's the cells balancing eachother here, not the light. A great way to test would be to perform the same tests on another light that had the charging port built into the head. It's also worth noting that balancing cells by connecting them in parallel can generate some high current flow between them, so for anyone reading, be careful about that.

Or you could put two batteries in there and connect their positive ends with a multimeter/wire+current clamp to measure if this happens in a regulated manner. Although you may also need to connecct the positive side to this pin up there to power the circuitry in the tailcap.

@@NightmareQueenJune I just tried this with my BLF LT1. I measured 37ma flow from a 3.84V cell into a 3.75V cell, and measured NO flow between two 3.84V cells. Confirmed!

That is something I’d want. I’m ordering! I have lep laser lights and always wished there was a flood option to use when I don’t need the laser. Now I hope they make a mini pocket version of this somehow.

I like the new light. Great review Matt!! I hope Lumintop improves quality control. Only 1 of my 3 Black/Copper/Brass GT Nano's that I received in the last week has a rubber button opaque enough, to allow the red indicator light to shine through. Plus the new Brass one will only light up if I crank the tube extra tight. Even the extension tube didn't help. Now I'm worried my Thor III, that's on it's way will have something wrong with it.

I doubt it's balance-charging the batteries tbh I think the cells are merely just in parallel and therefore "balance" themselves on their own by charging/discharging eachother

Agree. The positive contact is a brass ring connects all cells. The LEDs are 3V so it is the easiest way that the batteries are in parallel. My convoy 4X18A does the same. But not a good idea to mix batteries with different levels because you cant control the self balancing effect current so huge current can run between a full and an empty cell

Finally you dont have to bring 2 flashlight. Its always a battle between a far focused flashlight or a floodlight with those fancy orange peel reflector. For close quarters you can turn off the laser light and use jist the flood. And if you go out to do patrols you can use the laser focus light to spot far away objects.

You didn't get 4a because you were charging at 5v. Its a PD input, meaning the other 2a will come from doubling input voltage. 5v 2a =10w 9v 2a =18w (which then gets reduced to 4.2v 4a inside the light)

That is a cool concept. 1400m is on the low side for a thrower that size. I like the Thor 1 since its pocketable and throws about the same. I think for a large flashlight they should be aiming for 2000m or more for the LEP.

Hey Matt, I love the look of this light, I was just wondering if there was anything close to this kind of light? I’m concerned about delivery and wait times as it is limited stock and I live in Australia. I’m looking for a thrower with high cd but also with high lumen output for close range usage (over 2500 lumens on high). Wondering if there is anything like it and if not the delivery times for this light?

Thanks! Good content! Quick question: do they make small factor versions that are specifically rated for shock & vibration for use as a weapon mounted light system? It would seem to me that having a blinding affect on an intruder would make an effective advantage when one gets woken up in the middle of the night as well as to illuminate weather a potentially perceived threat was not a family member just sneaking in.

In terms of actual utility, the almost parallel collimation of the LEPs seems limited. Long range signalling or coupled with high magnification optics for spotting. Does someone not make and LEP with an a set or adjustable optic? Putting this on a firearm with matching optics and and matching beam angle would make for an interesting long range invasive hog rig or other night time pest hunting rig. Thanks for sharing, Matt!

Matt, what is your opinion of Mateminco flashlights? Are their ratings accurate, good quality etc? They seem to be pretty inexpensive for the specs they offer (if accurate)

If you look at the fully charged cells, it's undercharging with -0.05 on every cell, this will damage the batteries over time.. I've done a test over 3years since I have 40 18650 for my vaping gear.. So, I under charged 4 pcs over 3 years thru one of my mods, and the second 4 pcs I always took out of the mod and charged in a Gryfalcon charger, and those 4 batteries are still going strong...

Matt, I've got a question... M2R Warrior Pro flashlight, what would be the best way to clean the optic??? I thought maybe q-tips and alcohol but I'm afraid it might somehow cloud it. Also thought about throwing it under a faucet with some Dawn dishwashing liquid... I clean my sunglasses like that. But, I'm lost thinking of how to clean up one of these TIR Optics. I got fingerprints on it changing the bezel and getting curious. Is there anything you can suggest??? How about the LED itself?

What does the LEP "dot" look like close up, mine is very blue in the middle and very yellow around the edge, it looks almost like an eyeball.... is this to be expected at short range, or is there some problem with my Thor 3?

Well it seems there moving in the right direction, that light seems much more useful than the laser alone lights. Now if they could get a little more spread on the laser beam. If you were lost with one of those you sure could disclose your location to anyone looking.

I know it's a laser but the beam, even way out there, is so tiny. If you're searching for someone far away it would be hard to keep them in the beam. The led's seem to be lighting up the air between you and the trees, but not the MT18. Is that from the orange peel? I'd like to see this with some throwy reflectors, huh? Boom!

Yeah, I honestly don't get it the appeal of these LEPs. Unless you're mounting it to a telescope or something, I just don't see the practicality.

If you will, imagine what you will see when the next (guessing) wave of product evolution drops. You will have multiple LEPS and a different refracting system. It will be those BMW lights on steroids! In the palm of your hand.

@@16v15 Yes, with multiple lasers they could all come to a point in the center or spread out and make a larger but very bright hot spot. Maybe some cylindrical plano convex lenses in a radial pattern. Add a ring of maybe a combo of throw and flood reflectors
