CASE DETAILS
Nadine Moses had been experiencing memory loss with early onset of dementia, waking early at 2:00 A.M. on May 4th, 2021.
After making her bed, a fresh cup of coffee, and putting the dishes in the dishwasher, Nadine drove away from her home in Casco Township, Michigan in her Dark Blue Ford Edge, leaving friends and family to wonder for over 5-months, where did Nadine and her car disappear to, and what happened?
While hundreds in the community came out in search of Nadine, she had yet to be found.
Family members reached out to AWP with a feeling she may be underwater in the area.
Following leads from Nadine's cellphone that it had last pinged at 5:08 A.M. with a hard shutoff at 5:12 A.M. along with surveillance footage showing Nadine traveling southbound in town, it was determined that in this 4-minute window, Nadine was no further than 3 miles from her last known location.
Jared and Doug made the decision to put two sonar boats in the St Claire River, and heading north, in less than 20-minutes, identified a vehicle upside down underwater.
Diving on the vehicle in poor visibility, Jared was able to read the last two digits of the license plate, confirming this was Nadine's Ford Edge, and belief that she was inside.
Local law enforcement was notified along with the family.
With great effort by the St. Clair County Sheriff Dive Team recovered Nadine's car 30' offshore, and 20' underwater in the river.
There was extensive damage to the vehicle and it is believed that barges unloading rock at the local gravel pit had been parking over the top of Nadine's car for months.
We are humbled by the opportunity all of you have given us to help in the search for answers as to what happened to Nadine.

Honestly it would only take one anchor hit to flatten the car like that. The anchors on those lake freighters are about as big as that car is and weigh probably four or five times as much as it does.

@@timesthree5757 there's a huge difference, a decomposed (and I hope it's a really old grave, so just bones) body that is at least in 20 cm of soil (in extreme situations, likely more), walking above it will not make any difference, but getting anchors right on tthe car is a constant disturbance to the body, it actually would move each time.

Worth noting, might not be an anchor. Freighters don't always have the deepest draft when not fully loaded. The freighter itself may have hit and tossed the car

Dementia is a very slow agonizing disease. Young people can be overtaken by it in a few short months and the elderly can live for years inching their way along. Symptoms can represent several different things. Men and women can work several years in the beginning, there is no black and white door you enter. You don't have it now you do. The mind is a playground for every possible TV program, riddle, song, heartbreak, dream to torment, depress anyone. Any unbeliever without solid hope, without the WORD (as taught by Paul) Jesus Christ in their hearts.

Back in 97 we had to literally hide my Father in Laws car due to his Alzheimer's disease. Thank God he didn't linger once he was diagnosed, however when we looked back on events he could have had it for years. My wife talked to a Kentucky State Trooper about how to legally make sure he could not drive anymore. The police man stated that nothing could be done. We were stunned. We were so afraid that something like this poor lady's fate would be Herbs as well. Thank God that didn't happen. As horrific as it is to see a loved one slowly slip away, this underscores the fact that things could be so much worse. These people are truly a blessing to many. I could not imagine the pain that not knowing would bring. Stay safe folks. Edit: Rest in Peace Herb Woolum. Like my own dad.

You guys are incredible - you started out just wanting to clean up the environment, and inadvertently started solving missing persons cold cases. And I know you don't like knocking law enforcement when you solve these cases, but, given the number of cases Adventures with Purpose alone has solved, I think there is some major deficiency in law enforcement that so many of these cases have gone unsolved for so long. Whether it's lack of experience, proper equipment, or just the plain will to resolve a case, something is off somewhere and is not working. There IS a problem here, and it needs to be looked at.

That's precisely what I thought the first time I saw one of these videos. Are the search and rescue folk not trained very well? Do they not have up to date equipment maybe? Are priorities set which don't include looking for missing people, at an administrative and budgeting level? Maybe most of the time they think someone just took off for parts unknown, so they're not really motivated to find them, especially younger folk. It may simply be a matter of manpower and budgeting, which hamstrings a fully comprehensive search when the trail would still be fresh. Very sad that so many are never found though. Glad a family got closure with this one.

Maybe this was her first real episode of being severely confused. How do you know the family wasn't just using her car to drive her around but she decided to drive herself that morning unbeknownst to her family? As stated in the video Nadine was in the early stages of dementia and even tidied the house up before she left, so obviously she did have some cognitive abilities to take care of herself still. It's insane how crushed that car is. I get big cargo ships have giant anchors, but that had to be multiple strikes to flatten it like that. Crazy luck for the car to coast and sink in the exact place freighters anchor.

Gravel barge or ship came in light and sat over the car; and when being loaded flatten it as it settled down with the load of gravel. 35 ft deep is more like a ship. When they moved out with their HP they did not even notice any drag to speak of

I live near Marine city and Nadine's picture was up everywhere in search of her. It's wonderful y'all found her so her family could have answers. Thank you guys. There's an 18 year old boy who went missing from the Michigan game in November. They've had Iver 800 volunteers search and are now looking for experienced kayakers to look in the river. As an experienced river fisherman I'm guessing that it wasn't initially found by the law enforcement and river rescue crews because it was buried in mud and constant traffic of barges and freighters would make it nigh impossible to find since they constantly churn mud. And the reason it's so flat probably isn't from anchors as much as it's from being hit by barges and freighters. Good find. Very good find. Glad the family received closure.

That makes a lot of sense. Also, I've watched a number of the AWP videos where they find vehicles on sonar, and one starts to recognize what they look like. But this one didn't look like a car to me at all. Very glad that Jared and Doug know what they're looking at.

I hope she didn’t feel any pain and that it was quick. This makes me incredibly sad because I’ve taken care of three family members with dementia. I know how it is and you can’t keep your eye on them 100% of the time. I’m not sure if the family knew how bad it was, considering it can get worse literally over night. If you know someone who has dementia go ahead and take the keys. much love❤️
