Mary ready for another through hike? I just read about the England Coast Path that will be fully open next year - 2,800 miles along the coast. They estimate it would take 5 to 6 months to do a through hike. Be one of the first and show us Britain's Coast!

Yes I have been following its progress, it looks good. Although I'm not sure its one I would want to do as I love the wild camping aspect of thru-hiking and you can't do that legally anywhere on this trail. I will certainly do sections of it in the future though!

Mary you really nailed it mate. Absolutely beautifully presented and yes its a talky video, but mate your smile totally kills any boredom anyone feels they may have listening to you. It's a great pity more people don't make the effort you have to put this incredible cornucopia of factual and completely revalent info on you tube to assist others like you have. Your a very, very responsible person towards others Mary. Enjoy your life my dear and maybe we'll meet on the long paddock one day. That killer smile of yours will identify you immediately. Bye from Cambodia.

Thank you for another great video Mary! You always put so much thought and clearly laid out information into it and I am sure it’s so much appreciated by anyone from outside of the US. One small correction (unless I misheard) the two major cell phone (mobile) providers are AT&T and VERIZON (I think you said “Horizon”?). As someone who has immigrated here from Germany it was so interesting to hear about the B-2 visa process and you are absolutely right to suggest bringing as much documentation as possible and always be honest. Thanks again for all the work you put into these videos 😊

Mary, thank you so much for this really helpful advice! Perfect timing as I have been trying to do my own research online with regards travelling from UK to do PCT. Particularly useful to know more about the visa process, interview etc. Please could you clarify re applying for PCT permit, I've read that there are only 2 dates that you can apply online, end of October & mid January - is this correct as you said you applied in November? Also when you applied for your permit did you have to state the date you wanted to start walking & how did you decide that date? Did you guesstimate how long the whole walk might take you and then work backwards? Thank you again for such helpful videos. 😃🤗 Sarah
@MarysOutdoorAdventures
@MarysOutdoorAdventures 4 жыл бұрын
So glad it was helpful Sarah. Yes when I applied there were only 2 dates I could apply for a permit which at the time was the beginning of November 2018 and mid January 2019. I think this year it was the end of October. When you apply for the permit you need to specify the day you want to start hiking at that time. I knew what date I wanted and when it got to my turn I was lucky as it was available. I wanted to finish around the end of September so worked back just a little under 6 months, which is how long I expected it to take me. I also decided on the beginning of April as I wanted the desert to be a little cooler! You need to have a window of dates though if you can as a lot of people are left unable to get one, especially the one they want. I know of some people who couldn't get a date in either April or May. They allowed 35 permits per day on that first round, then on the 2nd they open up a further 15 a day. If you don't get the date you want on the first chance, I believe you can try again on the second. I hope that helps!

Does the B2 allow you to stay in the US for 6 months every year of the 10 years or just a one off 6 months during the 10 years?
@eztltd
@eztltd 4 жыл бұрын
John Callan, it allows you 6 months in any calendar year as long as the visa is valid.
@MarysOutdoorAdventures
@MarysOutdoorAdventures 4 жыл бұрын
There is no definite time or frequency as far as I am aware John and there does seem to be conflicting information on the internet so I will give you my experience. I was informed I could re-enter for a maximum of 6 months at a time, but was not informed how long of a gap I needed in-between, it wasn't even mentioned. After speaking to the customs advice they told me it was on an individual basis, depended on circumstances, nationality and that it was also at the discretion of customs. I was given 6 months initially when I applied for my visa and I only left the country for less than a couple of days and then was given another 6 months instantly. Hope that helps - but it seems quite a grey area!

Mary, Thank you for this very informative video. I stopped midway through watching it to ask you, as a citizen of the UK, was it easier for you to enter Canada, a member nation of the British Commonwealth, and then return to the US? One American thru-hiker said on one video that Canada did not allow entry into their country from the PCT. Could you clarify this point? Thank you.
@eztltd
@eztltd 4 жыл бұрын
John Divita Manning Park, where many folks end their PCT hikes, is in Canada. You can walk into Canada along the PCT provided you have the correct permit which is issued by the Canadian government.You’ll find details on the PCTA website. Generally, for us UK passport holders travel in Commonwealth countries is pretty straight forward, but for many countries we still need visas.
@MarysOutdoorAdventures
@MarysOutdoorAdventures 4 жыл бұрын
Hi John, I'm glad you found it useful. I'm not sure if it was easier for me to enter Canada than an American hiker but all I needed to do was apply for a permit from the Canadian authorities to enter via the PCT. I had to fill in paperwork online and send off my details, which was then approved. I could have then flown home or anywhere else. I was able to re-enter the US which for me was straight forward as I was heading back to finish the PCT. I hope that answers your question.
@johndivita4842
@johndivita4842 4 жыл бұрын
