Yes the hobby has become $$$. Buyer beware as I seen many ebay buyers over pay on many slots that are(fake) or just not original as stated. Good advice..

Is there still places that race? I remember when I was a kid in Florida my grandfather would take me to a slot car shop to race. That was 25 years ago... I'm 34 now and forgot about those memories until this random video in my feed

There are still hobby shops out there with slotcar tracks it depends on where you live, but there are a lot of private tracks all over the US in people's homes that groups get together at and race

Study the wheels? Nonsense. If you don't have a view of the underside of the car don't buy it. Period. You will have no idea what condition the chassis is in and also won't have a view of the body mounts.
