Well, that's me, I'm a little shy to say. It was 6 years ago when there was more personal will and know-it-all mind. I completely get what he's saying now too. Manifestation is fine...and don't mistaken it for the path to true happiness and realization. It's not.

He really nails it there: 7.20: "Personally I find much more interesting to see what the universe is going to manifest for me - than what I can manifest for me."

I used to be big on intention/manifestation. But after getting into Tolle and especially Adyashanti, I was able to "see" that all that stuff the "me" wanted wasn't important at all.

Adya is THE MAN.

Eckhart Tolle and Esther Hicks basically say the same: the most important thing is to be connected to your Higher Self/God/Source whatever you want to call it. But they use a different approach. The connection is all that counts all else is just secundary, like a bonus. You've already hit the jackpot when you're awake. Everything after that is nice and fun but you don't need it anymore. And from that comes real peace and joy.

This teaching resonates with me. I've learned over time that manifesting has little to do with spiritual growth. The problem that I found from working with the LoA type stuff is that it creates a mental habit (at least for me) of looking outside of myself for fulfillment, which never works. Even when I had the intention of, "oh I'm doing this for my spiritual growth" it still didn't work because of the mental habit it created. I worked with an African shaman who told me that basically if you're not meant to have it for this incarnation, then it causes more problems trying to go after it. He carries the teaching that spirit, ancestors, guides instruct you as you go from a spiritual level and (ideally) you have what you need for each phase of life.

I share this feeling. When there is no difference between your will and the universes will because 'you' is no longer an illusion , then things will I guess, *appear* to manifest. But that's not really happening. The Tao is just happening.

Like i said before, you can't even predict what your next thought will be, and yet you believe you are the doer of deeds, and make choices by freewill.

Secret is about being happy. and Knowing. When you constantly reach for happiness. You realised that material or things that you dream are not the reason for your happiness. Then you start the real quest. So for a person who is sad and depressed the Secret and Ester Hicks will lift them up to listen to Egoless.

Why does he want to manifest good parking places? Good parking places don't make you any happier. Touché Adya.

I have had a lot of hit and miss experiences using the "secret" and that is expected by chance, but the hits are so incredibly against odds that they are hard to play off as pure chance. I still practice the skill some because it does make more sense than what everyone else is doing, but I can sometimes feel how nothing promises happiness and that investing my spirit in any desire is wasting time I could spend getting closer to god. At the same time, I want to experience life... good points here

yeah, I dunno about parking spaces. I am very inconsistent with loa "successes," but like I said, sometimes it seems too coincidental. I don't know exactly how the whole thing works, but I do know I have a lot of unwanted subconscious shit in my head that could definitely hinder my "creation" abilities. Trying to find the pattern and hone this skill has been a futile effort for me. God knows best anyway, so I just try to keep my head up anymore and try to be willing to recieve.

IMO the reason why the secret works is that the affirmations cause our minds to rebel.. and the more you say the affirmations, the more you let the mind blabble and therefore disarm the mind's "obstacles" that prevent you from having what you wanted.

Yea, I agree. When I saw the secret I was even below that level of consciousness, so being excited about the secret was a step up for me at the time lol. I've been able to make great spiritual progress since then. So in that way the secret was a good thing.

I feel like many spiritual teachers who come out of Buddhist / Zen traditions he's trivalizing LoA here and not fully understanding that in the flow of higher self-orchestrated manifestation, life IS infinitely more fulfulling and amazing and enriching by default... whether it's a good parking space you get... or a chance encounter with the person that ends up taking your life in a completely different direction. It's a different game entirely - and the only danger is getting caught up in that and needing life to conform to this all the time (and basically being an annoying LoA junkie that's in their ego trying to feel good all the time). So... if this orchestration and flow of positive synchronicity in life is more representative of the more enlightened YOU, how does that not matter?

He was given a copy of "The Secret". Personally, I wouldn't givethe book/dvd house room, It has made a lot of money for Rhonda Byrne, so I guess she knows it works. On some levels, The Secret is quite funny, in the way somebody with enough cheek to stand in front of you and say the most unimaginable bullshit without blinking an eye can be funny. Like Adya says, it really doesn't matter on a true level.

as far as your state effecting others, that is a factor for sure. But there is something subtler to this. I have some health problems so I don't get out enough to build much of a social circle, but sometimes I seem to bring people into my life from seemingly nowhere that provide exactly what I asked "god" for. That being said, if loa was true, I would not be suffering from health problems, right? Makes me skeptical too, but the coincidences in my life are too great and numerous to ignore.

I still have conflict over this. Personal will? Or will of the Universe? I did will of the Universe by allowing the mind to be as it is and doing nothing. I was under the impression that the space would clear and something New would flow through. But the negative conditioned ways of the old seeped through and through. And then there are other ways of looking at this, particularly CWG book 1: "It is not God's function to create, or uncreate, the circumstances or conditions of your life.."

Manifesting anything for someone else is very difficult.

So much butthurt in the comments, LOL!! Adyashanti is right though, manifesting doesn't make you happy. Just like money doesn't make you happy either, this goes for everything else outside of ourselves too. If you are trying to manifest to make yourself happy, which really, i don't understand why else you would try to manifest.... then... well... it won't bring you happiness... so.. why try to manifest?? Maybe i am just not understanding the point of manifestation, i just.. don't get it. Why bother? So long as you are stable in your life, like, have enough money to be OK, then, i don't see why it is needed to try to do any spiritual manifestation. As was stated, happiness isn't an outside job. Happiness comes from inside, so... why do we need to try manifest something outside of ourselves if we are stable, and if we can't find happiness outside anyway? What is the point?? The Secret works but it doesnt bring true happiness and thats ok. It's its own mechanism. The teachings of Abraham are fine as far as they go but its only a very small narrow part of what reality truly is.

Watch the documentary. There is a reason why Abraham-Hicks publications sells millions of books, and few have ever heard of Adyashanti. "Life is just a oneness thing, everything elese doesn't matter." Well that's helpful and uplifting. Not.

But wait, adyashanti is manifesting himself as some spiritual leader which is egocentric. After all, if he knows he's God and everyone else is too why does he have to be some big shot in a stage giving advice? It's like robbing you of your own watch and selling it back to you.
