Cole is the only one who showed concern for Aegon. Not his mother. Not his brother. Shame.

I honestly can't hate Aegon in this. Literally nobody liked him since childhood. His father acted like he forgot Aegon even existed. Yet Aegon never bothered about Rhaenyra's rule. All he would've needed was some actual care and proper punishment for his outings with the maids to get a grasp on reality. Literally everyone in his family and the council wanted him to be the king, while Aegon was perfectly aware he's not fit for such responsibility. And now when he's obviously underperforming they beat it down on him. The only creature that ever truly loved him was Sunfyre, and it was finally shown, how even with a broken wing, burned to a crisp, crashed on the ground, Sunfyre positioned Aegon in a protective pose, as if he was guarding hatchlings. Speaking of Sunfyre he's the true victim of this war. I ain't a "pets before humans" guy but literally no ones suffering in this story is even close to Sunfyre's.

Poor baby Sunfyre, even wounded and on death's door he coils around Aegon to protect him, even landed on his wounded belly so as not to kill him. Probably the one that loves Aegon the most.

Vhagar, for a dragon her size, she really likes sneak attacks lol.

Aegon and sunfire had the strongest bond of any dragon and rider in the books . If u notice he commands to attack rhaeneys in plain english and sunfire still understand it .

From this point on Aegon becomes used to Milk of the Poppy for obvious reasons

I love how even on the ground, brunt to a crisp and severely wounded, Sunfyre has positioned Aegon in the middle still protecting him. Aegon and Sunfyre have such a strong bond, you could feel it just in the few seconds of interaction they had before they took flight. I really hope the show delves deeper into their bond later, it’s one of the most fascinating aspects of the book.

Ngl fabiens performance this episode might've been his best so far. Really enjoyed him tonight.

Most likeable Cole Scene. If Alisent hadn’t pricked his pride by calling him surplus to requirement he would never have been there. Mother of the year.

It was so heartbreaking - Aegon happy to see that Aemond had come to his rescue and then THIS happened. God, it seems that Aegon is a true victim of the story. He lost his son, no one even cares for him, even his mother, and now his own brother tries to kill him.

Felt so bad for Sunfyre he didn’t deserve this. I feel semi bad for Aegon too, they’ve done a great job with him as a character even from the beginning when it was clear he wanted nothing to do with any of this until it was forced upon him.

Rewatching Sunfyre's fall, I realized that he did everything he could to turn his body in the air and land on his stomach, even though he was injured, because he knew that if he fell on his back, Aegon would die...

Hard to believe Luke's death was an accident now the way he tried to kill his own brother

Aemond is everything Deamon would have been if Viserys wasn't such a family oriented man.

Apparently, Aegon was so badly burned that his armor had fused onto his flesh. Like his father before him, he is going to spend the rest of his life on painkillers (milk of the poppy). Neither rider nor dragon will ever be what they were after this.

Cole really cares about Aegon... Viseleprosys, AlicUnt, Otto Highschemer all neglected Aegon and turned him into a monster. Cole and Sunfyre were probably only two people truly loyal to him.

Aemond gets scarier and scarier each episode

Gotta love a villain driven by sheer wrath. Aegon throws pretty intense tantrums, but Aemond seethes with silent rage until an opportunity for revenge presents itself. He clearly didn't forget about that humiliation at the brothel last episode. I like to think Aemond fantasizes about exacting brutal revenge over extremely minor slights.

They did Rooks Rest justice 😢 it was beautiful and just as tragic as I imagined.

Aemond and Aegon had their differences but Aemond in the book was loyal to his brother. It’s strange to see him want to actively kill him.

Man, we didn't get to see more of the "most beautiful of dragons" before he got toasted :(

I think Cole is the only one who isn't his child to ever show Aegon genuine affection. Well, him and Helaena. Alicent is cold. Aemond hated him long before this. Otto is abusive. Daeron is nowhere to be seen. Viserys wasn't a equal opportunity father. So, yeah, I feel sorry for Aegon. And poor Sunfyre. :(

Aemond didn't even rush over to help his brother.

This killed me too the Greens Otto and Alicent especially were going to try and place Aegon on the throne for twenty plus years but never cared to actually try to learn about him and force him to be ready for their political power play moves. They just wanted to use Aegon as a figurehead and act shocked when he goes rogue. These Hightower Targaryens are a literal family of strangers who know nothing of eachother.

This episode is a PSA for what happens when you go drunk-driving into battle on a dragon

Moral of the story: The next time you are a dragon rider and your little brother is not and you plan to mock him for it by dressing up a pig as a dragon for him to claim and then he claims a bigger dragon then yours and gets his eye cut out and you become king with no heir except him, think twice.

Hate seeing the dragoms getting hurt or killed

despite the awful things aegon did to the maids, you can't help but to feel sorry for him, his mother was the worst to him, his father always preferred rhaenyra, and his whole life people treated him like trash and just saw him as a pawn to put him in the iron throne for their gain. The only times that kid received love was when he was playing with the sons of rhaenyra, and even then, his family taught him to hate them, he really has no one

I felt so bad for sunfrye, she got absolutely ruined. The noises she made during the battle were heartbreaking, then watching her fall from the sky and impact the ground. Sunfrye looked really messed up, so sad aswell after that sceen of her and aegon earlier in the episode.

The tactical flaw here is if you’re going to drop a “nuke” you should drop them all. All of her dragons should have been sent. Letting one go alone as if the opposing side doesn’t have arguably the strongest dragons available.

I see nobody talking about Aemond’s incredible charisma in this scene - the man is stealing the show!

Aemond wanting Aegon dead makes PERFECT sense. He’s had to watch his brother fail to the top his whole life. His brother has humiliated him while he’s had to stand behind him and pretend to not covet what he was born into. His sheer display of idiocy by putting himself at risk and flying his dragon into the middle of a battlefield against a MUCH bigger and older dragon is the final straw for Aemond. When he sees his chance to get rid of Aegon and become king himself he TAKES it. Gotta feel sorry for Aegon though. He lives but in constant agony for the rest of his life after this, his bones shattered to pieces and his skin burned so badly that his armour melted into his flesh. He is in so much agony after this that he basically lives off of milk of the poppy and prays for death.

Ryan Condal is trash. Aemond is a stone-cold killer but his loyalty to his brother is almost to a fault in the book. Unbelievable.

Although I’ve found it annoying that the show keeps trying to make the Greens unsympathetic, it did make sense to have Aegon participate in the battle on his own accord rather than be apart of it initially like the book suggests. That and the potential of Aemond trying to kill both him and Rhaenys at the same time make a whole lot of sense given Aemond’s later work in the book.

They did sunfyre so dirty, instead of showing him during Aegon coronation we had to see that cringe meleys scene of sniffing alicent, the book describe that Sunfyre fought fiercely during the Rook rest battle but again meleys was just toying with him despite Sunfyre having other two kills on his name even after being injured, more than any other dragon during the dance. Justice for Sunfyre🤦🏽‍♂️😭

Ngl, Meleys prolly the second dragon who can actually kill vhagar 1 on 1, more likely because of the rider who is way more experienced. Daemon was legit in saying that his dragon and the dragon of Rhaenys can kill Vhagar. It sucks that Rhaenys kinda had that look of a suicidal in her last few moments. Such a dumb decision
