Aegon I Targaryen conquered most of Westeros. Supported by his sisters-Visenya and Rhaenys-their dragons, and a small army, Aegon subdued six of the Seven Kingdoms, successfully resisted only by Dorne. Not all the continent had to be taken by conquest, as some regions and houses actively supported House Targaryen and others submitted voluntarily. Find out who, how and why submitted or resisted Aegon, and who could be the ancient enemies of the Targaryens.

An inn was built where Torrhen( the only king to yield)Stark bent the knee to Aegon called the Inn of the Kneeling Man.

The only king to yield without first resisting at all. The vale resisted till visenya visited with vhagar. The Lannisters resisted till their king was captured.

@@joshhoffman5233 Torrhen Stark was wise to bend the knee, he chose to save the lives of his Northmen rather than have them die to defend his crown. Sharra Arryn also made the wise choice but had less of a choice, since her son Ronnel was sat on Visenya's knee staring awstruck at Vhagar. The most stupid King at the time of Aegon's conquest was Mern Gardner of the Reach cause he took every male in his family to war, without a thought for the continuation of his line, ultimately leading to the extinction of House Gardner and rise of House Tyrell.

According to GRRM the next shows in the GoT universe will neither be prequels or sequels. They are going to be stories in the universe that don't relate to the current story. At least this is what I have gathered from different sources.

That's not true at all! George personally said in an interview it would not be a sequel, nor would it be Robert's Rebellion or The Tales of Dunk and Egg. ( Only because the books aren't done ) So basically all PREQUIL ideas are a possibility.

I'm kind of hoping the spin-off will take place in Sothoryos, since little is known about the continent. Instead of dragons, maybe we'll get to see some wyverns instead, and I'm really interested to see what civilization looks like over there.

The Targaryens are basically like a fusion of the Normans the invaded and conquered the seven kingdoms of Anglo-Saxon England and the Ptolemys that ruled Egypt after Alexander the Great--the incest is the biggest similarity of course.

=) It's just re-branding. But seriously, names are being pronounced differently all over the world. You can take biblical names as an example: Jacob, Peter etc. Every region in the world has it's own pronunciation of those. So yeah, re-branding =)

So basically... dragons. The northmen should have stayed in the north... maybe even evacuated as far as the Dreadfort? if Aegon chose to cross the Neck it would have taken him some time, as the marshes are infamous for stopping the crossing of armies. the Andals learned it the hard way, afterwards he would have to march his army the length of the entire North... you're looking at an army of loose alliances, forced to march thousands of miles through marshes, cold and hard terrain. The King of Winter would have a definite advantage of fighting a tired, worn out and bickering army. As for the dragons, I expect them to have found it equally difficult in the cold of the North for long periods of time as they are pretty much made of magical fire. So.. make them march, attack them when they've marched all the way to the Dreadfort... when Aegon pulls the only strategy he has been pulling the entire time, namely kill everything with dragons, unleash waghs, which I'm sure the northmen had. Get inside the dragon's head and make one attack the other two. I'm almost sure Aegon has by now grown so dependent on his dragons he had no strategy if they were out of the contest. The sheer size and inhospitality of the North should have been an advantage for the King in the North.

Aegon was just a bully who had Dragons and between Westoros and Essos, he knew that the people of Westoros had little to no knowledge of dragons whilst the people of Essos on the contrary knew about dragons and would prove far more difficult to impossible to rebuild the Valyrian Freehold.

He’d torch the wildlings lol. They don’t even have metal. If you noticed no kings beyond the wall existed during the dragon age of Westeros between Aegon’s conquest and the dance of the dragons. The reason is simple-if they attacked the wall, they would burn.

According to the backstory westeros was constantly at war with 2 or 3 kingdoms at a time fighting it out. Aegon put an end to that, with the last 3 centuries producing 7 wars, some them so small that they are barely worthy of being designated as such. It is rather telling that during Aegons first coronation it was the small folk who cheered the loudest.

+batu khan dragons are massive advantages, they are air support against an enemies with little anti air defence. They are also huge morale destroyers, literal mythical creatures breathing fire burning your friends alive.

Yup. Just, when I first read the book, it sounded differently in my head. Now I know the correct pronunciation and do use it (in further vids), but still it sounds in my head like that first time when I read it.

lol =) Born in USSR. Raised in Latvia. Lived for a while in Greece and USA. This German/Indian really made me laugh... gave me an urge to fool around and say that I'm from Far-Eastern Germany =)

Ah then it is the accent, if that´s the case then is totally fine. Is just that it seemed intentional. Is not like I myself can pronounce things right(non native speaker). You switch from saying "Valyrian" correctly to saying "Walyria" and also it seems you completely switched W for V, that kinda seems weird because it actually seems like you know how to say both the sounds but just switch them up.
