Is this bag foldable? I know it doesn't compress Into itself but can it be folded in half or rolled? Great review! Love locking mechanism for the drop pocket on the top! Trying to decide on this one or the Matador packable pack!
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels Жыл бұрын
Yeah you can fold and roll it. It's bulkier than the Matador bags so it doesn't fold down as much but it doesn't have a stiff panel or anthing.

Great review! Do you think this would be good for an EDC bag, I.e Gym, Office and general daily carry or is the bag not structured enough (i.e things may poke you in the back due to lack of panelling? I was looking at the AER City Pack pro, but feel that it's quite big and heavy for general EDC use.
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 10 ай бұрын
Depends on what you're carrying.. It doens't have a solid frame, but it does have a decently thick back padding for a packable daypack. Can carry decent weight, but if you have gym shoes, laptop etc it may be a bit too much for this bag. Aer Pro Pack is a little sleeker pack than the City Pack, may work better as an EDC. Also Able Carry Daily Plus and Tortuga Laptop Backpack are both great.

hi- great review. I'm thinking about getting the green one and was worried how material will look. i plan to pack it into my carry on hardshell but was wondering if it will be all wrinkly. or I may have to fold it and put it in my travel backpack but was worried that it will have a huge crease that won't go away. I read that the black ones are better at hiding the wrinkles. do you have any experience with these type of situation and how did your light colored backpack look afterwards? do the wrinkles/creases fade quickly or does it last for awhile. thanks.
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels 7 ай бұрын
I haven't folded it in half like that so I haven't gotten any big wrinkles. The bag is already made from wrinkle nylon, so it looks wrinkly to begin with. I would imagine if you folded it in half and squished it in the bottom of a suitcase it may get a crease that would be noticeable. To avoid this I would either lay it flat in the bottom of your suitcase or roll it and tuck it in a corner of your bag.

Came across your video and you answered my question I’ve been searching for - will the go pack 2 fit in the travel pack 3! Two questions for you: 1) if you have the go pack 2 packed down into the travel pack 3, are you still able to fit in 2 packing cubes (I have one small peak design and one medium peak design compression cubes) and close the travel pack 3 with ease? 2) looking for a day pack and not sure if this is overkill for what I’d be using for - won’t be having a laptop on it - just using it for a bag to carry maybe snacks, water, and outter layers like a puffer/rain jacket. Only looking towards it because of the comfortability compared to packable day packs - few of them mention the straps digging it but have seen very few mentions of that with this bag.

I just tried that with the Travel Pack 3, Go Pack 2, and the Medium and small Peak Design cubes. They fit, but I wouldn't say with ease. You know you can pack a lot into those PD cubes and they can get pretty fat. The TP3 has a lot of interior pockets which take away from interior volume, so the packing space isn't gigantic compared to simpler bags with less organization. The Go Pack 2 is small, but it's stil substantial compared to packable daypacks with no structure (eg Matador Freefly). The Go Pack 2 fits fine on the bottom but does take up space. When you put the Medium PD cube in, it looks like it's taking up almost the entire remaining space, however I was able to fit the smaller PD cube in above it without too much squishing. Basically they should fit fine, just underpack them a little. If the cubes are bulging with as much clothes as you can get in them then it's not going to fit very well, underpacked a little and they fit fine. I like the Go Pack 2 because its packable, but has enough structure to carry like a much bulkier backpack. It also looks good, which I think makes a difference if you're traveling in urban settings. True packable daypacks are good for a lot of things, they pack down super small so they're great as a general use daypack, however they can be lumpy, and annoying to pack because when stuff falls over it digs into your back, you have to be conscious of how you pack them and adjust as you go. They also look very outdoorsy, which isn't a big deal, but can look a little out of place in major cities. Another thing to consider is you may be able to just use the Travel Pack 3 as a daypack. It's a little large, but with the space the Go Pack 2 takes up, you would almost have the same carry capacity if you used the smaller Travel Pack 3 small, or even the City Pack Pro or Pro Pack, which don't have as much internal pockets and carry like a travel pack or a daypack just fine.

@@OneBagTravels thanks for the prompt reply - I’ve ordered both the go pack 2 and travel pack 3 - should be here soon and will see what you mean with the fitting situation. I’ve thought about using the travel pack 3 as the day pack - wasn’t sure if it looked too bulky as a day pack - will try it out and see how it looks . have you ever used the travel pack 3 overseas as a day pack? - thanks again!

Trying to decide between this and the Freefly16 Packable Backpack. Since you've reviewed and used both. What's your preference?
@OneBagTravels
@OneBagTravels Жыл бұрын
If I was going lighter and smaller, I would use the Freefly because it takes up less space. But it carries like a drybag. The Aer Go Pack is a little bigger, but it has a much more comfortable carry and looks and feels much more like a backpack instead of a drybag. If you're less concerned with space then Go Pack is a better bag.

Is this a better bag than the Matador Refraction packable daypack?

It's better in that it's larger, has more structure and back padding and carries more like a real backpack. However it is larger and heavier, which can be a downside depending on what you're looking for.

@@OneBagTravels Game on, that is my go to one bag travel bag. Been trying to decide if I get the new Aer TP3 since I also have the TP2. Just traveled in EU for a month with my Nomatic Navigator and in the process of giving them feedback on my experience. It's a great bag but really bigger than 35L and I think with the expansion can go beyond 40L which puts it into dangerous territory for size and weight with many airlines and parts of the world. the TP2 looks smaller perception wise as well, and is more comfortable to wear even though its missing load lifters.

I’m on the hunt for a personal size backpack with a good hip belt that can double as a day hike pack. I usually carry a decent amount of water on my day hikes. All my day hiking packs are too tall to qualify as a personal item. I’m also 5’10” tall so a shorter length “women’s” pack doesn’t work for me. I wish there was a day pack with an adjustable length back panel that can go down to 17” tall for flying and then can lengthen to 20” or so for hiking and have a beefy hip belt for hiking with a heavier load.
