The two tines on the right do the same thing. They both pull cores just one ejects that core out the side and the other comes out the top. The two tines on the left do the same thing as well. They punch a hole in the ground but one makes a bigger diameter hole. Check your aeration machine depth settings. You want to be penetrating the dirt 2.5-4 inches deep. Most courses that keep up with aeration will pull cores in the fall(two tines on the right) and some will poke small holes in the spring(two left times but ideally the smaller one). This helps stimulate growth by getting air into the soil after the winter months. Love the channel! Keep up the great work! I work at a course here in Michigan, any questions don’t hesitate to ask!

Spud Run is looking good going into winter, you and the turf need a rest! I would unload all that sand on green and broom in for winter. Tell the boys "course closed" Happy Holidays!

What did I and a lot of others say weeks ago? Give it time! The green looks really good!...We used the solid tines for some bad or stress spots in the heat of the summer. Sometimes we would do all greens with them. I really think it was some experimenting going on...lol...As for the bent plate, I'd have to put my eyes on it, which reminds me of a story. Our mechanic was John, a big husky guy that would do anything for you if he liked you and never was mad at anyone for more that a few minutes. His favorite sayings were "have you ever?" and "by-krackie", liked to let out loud farts at lunch with a sheet eatin grin on his face. Made money on everything he touched. I called him King Midas. No tellin how much money he made while on the clock on side work he did for some club members and also the many things he did for the staff just because. We had a broke down aerator and John came out. I'm not sure what he was doing but all I heard was a pop and John yelling "Sheet son of a beach!" jumping back pulling his watch off his arm. his watches crystal was gone and there was a black spot on the edge near the band. John had red marks on his arm that was the same pattern as the watchband. Somehow he had touched his watch to the positive battery post while touching the frame with a wrench in the same hand as the watch. The funny part was it happened on #9 green with about a dozen or more members looking down out the clubhouse windows and seemed to enjoy the event. John's arm was red for a few days and he had to buy a new watch.

JSF, MY DUDE!!..Let's consider this, if you already have, fair enough. At the 8:20 make your talking of feeling ridges, the triplex has most all its weight on the tires not the rollers. There isn't down pressure on the rollers to suppress the tire marks its unit weight has to hold otherwise the rollers would be moving the unit. The greens roller I used at the Dye had only metal rollers. I detached the wheels when I arrived at each green. Much like the greens mower you have. So in this "theory " you greens mower is probably smoothing the putting surface Much better than the triplex. Just my thoughts, going back to drinking now🙂

Nice work with the new equipment. The place is coming together, and this falls seasons work will pay off next spring when the turf hits another gear. This series has been inspirational for work on my course project...when things seem intimidating it's nice to see your hard work come together.

Just keep an eye on your PH levels going into the spring. Maybe send some core samples up to the OARDC in Wooster and they can send you back some suggestions. But I believe you are going to have one of the best individual golf holes not only in Ohio but maybe the midwest!

I’m just a year behind you in my backyard green, curious why you use PGR? Do you not want it to grow at all? Won’t winter cause it to not grow naturally?
@SpudRunGolf
@SpudRunGolf Жыл бұрын
Great question. My fungicide mix was premixed from early September and contained the pgr along with some liquid fert. Looking back now, the point of me saying I was using a PGR was not necessary. Thanks for commenting. Best of luck.
