It's been 47 days since we planted hot peppers and herbs in our AeroGarden Bounty Wi-Fi. Now it's time to say goodbye to the herbs and concentrate on the peppers. #AeroGarden #hydroponic

I wrap the roots tightly in Saran Wrap which makes it easier to pull the roots out from the aero garden. That way I can replant the herbs into pots.

Wow Rob, that's a lot going on for 47 days! Great to see your hydroponics adventure taking off so well. Cuttings off the basil and other herbs will root easily in water, and grow in a mason jar on the countertop easily with Kratky type hydroponics. It looks like you've mastered Aerogarden growing of peppers. Keeping the plants low and wide within the foot print of the light helped me get better results too. Counting the days down to Spring.

Hi Matt! Things have been a little crazy around here with work and family, but I really hope to do some Kratky experiments in the new year. I will be planting the outdoor seedlings before you know it. Just ordered seeds last night.

Thanks for the video! We love using our seed starting tray in our Aerogarden for starting pepper seeds. We put a heat mat under the Aerogarden to help keep them warm and germinate faster. They grow great under the Aerogarden until ready to transplant outside, we usually harden them off in the Aerogarden by bringing it outside to be in the sun and breezes for a few days before transplanting, then we transplant the pods right into the ground in the evening. Works great, no transplant shock!

@@7PotClub are you still using the Aerogarden? I'm contemplating whether I should get one or should I do a diy using my existing resources. the basil, cilantro and pepper would be great with the Aerogarden. but I definitely need a larger space for water spinach (aka kangkong) and bok choy (aka pechay or pak choi).

Jordan, my main focus will always be starting seedlings in soil to transplant outdoors in the spring. AeroGarden is just an experiment for me. I'm really enjoying it, but if you want to really explore hydroponics you might want to go the DIY route. Good KZfaq resources include Matt Garver, Khang Starr, Peter Stanley.

Nice. DWC is fun and keeps ya busy indoors. You could just order a ton of little net/basket pots and cubes of whatever medium you prefer, sold at most hydro shops online. Eventually, depending on how many peppers you're wanting to start, you could build an easy rubber maid tub version with more net/basket inserts. Once ready to be planted out in the soil, can easily be transplanted. Great little systems for propagating cuttings too.

Hello! This is also my first attempt at growing with an aerogarden, but from what i gathered it is better to, after possibly removing nutrients, replace all the water and add reccomended nutrients just in case plants start to burn because of too many nutrients. I don't know if it matters as i am unexperienced, but if you start having issues, you could try this.

Do you think growing peppers hydroponically would shorten their grow time? Along the same vein, I have been wondering if the CMH lighting spectrum would shorten the time it takes peppers to finish as well.
@7PotClub

Yes, I do think that hydroponics can shorten growing time. My overall focus is growing peppers outdoors, so I'm not an expert on the subject. Check out Peter Stanley or Khang Starr for in-depth hydro info.

I wish I knew what I was doing wrong because my garden is going on day 31. Seven of my pod still have the dome on it. The plant is so small it’s just peeking through the paper. My deal is about 6 inches high and my Italian parsley is about 2 inches high. What am I doing wrong I live in the desert of Nevada with lots of sunshine coming in the window. I am using purified water because of the hard minerals that are is in our tapwater. Could that be what I’m doing wrong?
@7PotClub
@7PotClub 3 жыл бұрын
Hello! I assume you're adding the plant food as directed. The sunshine is great, but not really needed because of the AeroGarden's built-in lighting. Purified water should be OK as long as you adding the correct amount of plant food. What model AeroGarden are you using?

Why add water first then add nutrients. Would not adding nutrients then water mix better?
@7PotClub
@7PotClub 5 жыл бұрын
Good question. I'm just following the AeroGarden instructions. Since there's a pump, I'm pretty sure they would get mixed thoroughly either way. Now that I've done it a number of times, I usually dissolve the nutrients in a little water first, then pour that in.
