There is something so captivating about this guy. I love the way he is aging---he doesn't care how he is "supposed" to look---he looks like he probably feels; young at heart! God bless him!

He takes care of himself now. All of them stopped the drugs in the late 80s . He had foot surgery awhile back to recovery not because he was addicted to anything but just in case the meds go worse in need them. Which was cool because the place he went was for bands, well guys from bands. The all play something. It's awesome. I have love Aerosmith since I first heard them in the late 70's. They are awesome I think it's sad that they have just one song that went to number one. I don't wanna miss a thing that was the song for the movie armageddon. Liv Tyler was in that. Steven eats fresh salmon that flown just for him after a show. For 71 he wears it well. I don't think they have played in Mississippi. But I'll see.

He's still got, loooove Mr Tyler. I was at school in the 80's and love Run DMC, when they did Walk this way with Aerosmith it shook my world and I never looked back. Love Aerosmith, seen them live several times they are amazing. I still wont go on the Rock n roller coaster though, not unless Steven goes on with me, that would get me on lol. Great interview :) xx

Finally Steven addresses those fucks that on;y like half of Aerosmith. I love it all. From One Way Street to Legendary Child, doesn't have to be a "hit" for me to like it. It has to sound good.

Yes.....all their stuff is great. As far as commercialism Back in the Saddle is a totally commercial song as far as structure...verse /chorus/ bridge. ST knows what a good song is and as far as I'm concerned they have actually grown as songwriters. People who say their newer stuff is crap are just ignorant and probably aren't educated musicians. Not liking a song doesn't mean it's a bad song.

I respect your feelings but there is a big difference between The Toys in the Attic & Rocks record & what has gone on since the 80's. I'll take raw, interesting chord changes, darker tones & less gloss anytime over recent times.

not really....just less coke LOL Coke makes the creative brain super creative, as does speed. The Beatles did boatloads of speed. I hear the difference, but they were as commercial as you could get back then. Just more creative and kinda scarier sounding. Legendary Child is as good as anything on Rocks.... IMO
@ginadelong1652
@ginadelong1652 8 жыл бұрын
Todd Lavigne I listened to Legendary Child and truly, in all respect to you because music, as with art is subjective... So I realize that just because I hear it one way doesn't mean my opinion is everything, but Legendary Child is basically Aerosmith saying: (Imaginary conversation between Joe Perry & Tom Hamilton) "Ok, we have to come up with a record & we never see each other anymore except for rare appearances, forced rehearsals & when the record company signs us for another shot at making a few bucks.. "so what about doing a song based on The Wanton song by Zeppelin?" (thats what legendary child is definitely stolen from) ""the fans that watch Steven on tv don't listen or know rock, or Zeppelin & most of our fan's are super young, so lets do it because I we gotta get this done." Obviously, that is my imagined interpretation, but having worked in that business for many years I can tell you it's not far off the mark... I say this to you in the most friendly & respectful way; when you listen to Rocks or Toys, or Get your wings, those songs you consider "scary" sounding; listen to the way the drums are recorded so great without that fake sound & the guitar's minor chord changes & just the complexity yet simpleness of the sound. Rock music needn't be "complex", but surely it is more interesting to actually spend time listening to if it makes you get a gut feeling or you sense somehow that there is hunger & rawness in the playing or even in the lives of the players, it's just infinitely better. Aerosmith now (and for the last 25 years) have sounded very carefully & perfectly produced to the point of them TRYING to make it have that "raw early sound." And thats okay, it doesn't mean they aren't good, it just is very very uninspiring or believable listening to them sing about 20 year old girls or young themes at their age. It just sounds manufactured & please forgive me, but just silly. Like the kind of stuff those annoying morning radio jocks with the fake gravely voices tell you they are "gonna bring to ya!" It's just kinda gross, dull & common. They are doing these records in their sleep, not liking each other & when they are together it's just to make a big paycheck. Nothing wrong with that, but I don't want to listen to it, thats for fucking certain. And I hope you will forgive my long winded reply, I looked at it and went; "why did I just write all that!?" But it's because if you happen to be, and you may not be, but if you happen to be really young- I just want you to have a chance at hearing music in a different way so you get the most from it & so you have a bullshit meter that says "this is over produced crap & I'm being talked down to by this band because they think I'll accept anything they churn out in 5 seconds because they think I don't know the difference." You deserve better as a fan, thats all I'm saying. Be well & hope you take it the way it is intended, from one music lover to another. And coke by the way, which I unfortunately have had a lot of experience with, will only make you creative in the short term. After a about a year of continuous use, it's just hangovers, come downs, over eating afterward & more of it. Theres little time for anything else & too much exhaustion to keep up the good work.
@toddlavigne6441

Coke eventually backfires and stops working, I know myself, truly creativity comes out when it wants to and doesn't care about due dates for albums so musicians start relying on there tricks, knowledge and their to write and it ends up sounding forced but good. I think thats what happened to Aerosmith. Their early stuff had a magic. All in all their still doing really well. But i do see your point.

And my favorite line on pump is janie's got a gun when he says "honey honey what's your problem", the way he put that lyric in the background in the end is so cool. Completely amazing. Rock in a hard place also amazing. Bitchs brew joanies butterfly . Permanent vacation has magic touch & simoriah . Pump monkey on my back voodoo medicine man also 🔥🔥🔥. Steven should know better as a fan of music that people have TASTE in music and that Aerosmith set a precedent with their early music. The way he mocks fans who like their pre-'86 music is disrespectful--they're the ones that put Aerosmith on the map! How self-centered & thoughtless. If it weren't for all the comments made on my Aerosmith videos & the rest of the band who don't talk like this and get it, I'd delete them all because those commenters are the people he's saying he doesn't give 2 fucks about. It's not fair to the other four that their lead singer can be such a self-centered ass. Steven can't even manage to go on his Twitter after a tour and thank all the fans (who I guess if they like every era AS, he _does_ give 2 fucks about _them_) who attended their tour. Honestly, how does one get dumber as they get older? Photos and photographs don't cut it, respect to fans and all those who supported you at every moment in time is what matters most. You got co-writers because you couldn't figure out how to do it yourselves, so it's not all you anyway. Then there are fans who say if you don't like all eras of AS you're not a true fan. Those people need to grow up--if you like ONE album of a band you're a fan, and you're true to that. Maybe not a diehard, but so what. A band doesn't have allegiance to you so there's no reason to have allegiance to them. They're selling a product, in this case music. Some is good, some not. His voice has never sounded the same after 1985, so we'll just pretend he was someone else. There ya go.

What you mean? Are you talking about 17:23? Maybe he is trying to defend their post-1985 music? I haven't seen an Aerosmith interview in a long time. Does he those mock fans who don't like the late 80s-90 Aerosmith? Tell me he doesn't, I don't want to be dissapointed on artists I like AGAIN... :(
@Grendelmonster8u
@Grendelmonster8u 9 жыл бұрын
Rocío Tomlinson Yes, he's done it before as far back as the RUN DMC/Walk This Way song/video. Sure, artists may get dissapointed that people or early fans don't like some of their music, but that's par for the course with many bands. I've never heard Mick Jagger or Tom Petty complain, mock or the like about the music their fans didn't like. In fact, I've heard them end up agreeing with those fans in retrospect, that, yeah, that album wasn't so good, but still there are some fans who like those, and may feel a little hurt themselves. It's an attitude. In that respect, in the past, he also said of the early 80s when the band didn't have Joe and Brad, that Rock In A Hard Play " like only sold 12,000 copies." Well, no, it sold more like 200,000 or so initially, and went Gold. In talking about _that_ period, he's never acknowledged all the fans who _did_ go out to see them, and I know people who did, and I can hear the audiences in bootlegs. He has an issue with _really_ thanking fans like the other members do. It's pretty hard not to be disappointed in artists of all sorts or people if you over-inflate them as people do. They're not gods, they've clearly told us in books, interviews, etc. that they're not perfect and have faults, and Steven sure has them. Only obsessed idolizing people get whacky. I get annoyed at artists for doing things, some things more significant than others. Right now I'm really pissed off at Aerosmith and closed up all my videos that I spent so many hours on, but it doesn't have to do with the music. And I have no problem telling them that and why, and they should consider people's opinions of their music. The fans are the ultimate critics and supporters. And actually fans are a real pain in the ass to other fans, and some are just downright lacking perspective. I have heard complaints about every band I like--the real big bands too such as Pink Floyd, the Stones, what Queen went through in the early 80s. Don't we often get disappointed with everyone in life? They are one band amidst a zillion of artists. People were disappointed in James Brown hearing he was a woman beater, Chuck Berry going to jail. Some people are better at separating the music from the artists or they won't be listening to a lot of music. They're not all wonderful just because they made popular music. And they tell us that themselves! So what do they expect?? So, appreciate that people like any of your music, and stop whining and thank them--they paid their salaries. Steven is an egotistical guy who can often be too self-centered. Doing charities doesn't excuse that. His band mates point that out. Only blind people don't recognize that. Again, I've heard fans like AS's music, but can't stand Steven--they can separate the person from the music, others can't. I can recognize what's what and be objective--but can't support them right now because it's too important and they're being hypocritical, especially Steven and Joe. So it goes...there's tons of other music to listen to, but it _is_ a shame. Sorry, this probably isn't well-written...still waking up. ((:
@chiefsoulc8405
@chiefsoulc8405 9 жыл бұрын
***** No, I have no problem separating the music from the musicians. It's just that the level of "dedication" I give to them will depend on how much they respect me, a fan. I really don't care about musicians as people, but I want to know that they are respectful and thoughtful with me and the rest of us because I dont want to support an artist that doesn't give a shit about me.
@Grendelmonster8u
@Grendelmonster8u 9 жыл бұрын
Rocío Tomlinson Yes, it should be that way since we are paying their salaries and gave them the success they have. Plus fans are getting screwed over with ticket prices that are way out of proportion to he progression of ticket prices since the 60s and inflation. Aerosmith is expensive--the Stones are crazy expensive, the VIP tickets near the stage are crazy expensive,the presales are unfair, tLive Nation holds back tickets from the public sale date. At my last AS show last summer, I waited until show day, and because tickets weren't sold out I got a ticket for $55 that was previously over $100. On that day in the 5th row there was a ticket open for $400. F'in crazy as all hell. Other bands are more reasonable, but still close to the stage tickets are too much. That in itself is a greedy anti-fan issue. Starting concerts late is another anti-fan disrespectful thing. Sure once in a while a problem will arise, but when it happens all the time, such as with AS and other bands, they need to get their act together and start on time...no excuses. People are paying too much for tickets not to get that respect, abd especially on week nights they have to go to work. In the past, of course, there was no internet, and thanking fans could only be done in interviews. Most people are not on Twitter, which is easy to see, nor following on Facebook. But some bands/artists are really good at thanking fans on twitter or such since it's one available way to do it, and I notice who does it even after every show. Steven is the worst about this. He can't even manage to thank people for going out to see them on the tour, but he can manage to tweet photos of himself or such. Taking photos with people doesn't cut it--about 1/3 of those peope don't even know much about AS or Steven--they just know someone is famous and want to brag about photos with famous people or be able to say that. That doesn't cut it in being appreciative of fans when you have the opportunity and they're paying crazy ticket prices. They return nutty obsessed fans' tweets saying all these worshipping things, and they are often the same damn people, while I see some "normal" tweets, people who have fathers or somebody who knew AS back in the day...it's all rather distasteful to see. My friend gave up on Guns N Roses for Axl crazy lateness to concerts and being an asshole. So, that happens like you say. It's a two-way street. Also, I lose respect, and so do thers, when their books are full of mistakes, they can't get their own verifiable information right, so it's a sloppy disrespect to fans who spend the time to learn all that information, build websites putting that online, they don't admit their mistakes or even fix them on book re-issues...it's disrespectful to people with brains--their serious fans. It's like all they care about is who shows up at concerts, who buys stuff, who praises their egotistical or entitlement attitudes when they are a business, especially now, and should act like any business. Rock concerts these days are not like they used to be--that ship sailed a long while ago. My friend, who is male, has lost respect for a bunch of bands or particular members of a band, and it does turn people off. Since they are so much more visible these days on TV, online, etc. doing a zillion other things, they're gfoing to catch more flack for what they say and do, which is fair. Some have a fuck you attitude and don't care as long as _someone_ sees them, but that's a bad attitude, and bad for _any_ business. I'm going back to reading biographies and autobiographies of just dead rock stars. That cuts out one aspect of disrespect. Don't tell people you're some kind of perfectionist in the studio and then put out a sloppy book and throw people under the bus (people they knew). Steven's book was an example of that. Yet they still can't own up to their mistakes. Someone in private messages here, who is a KISS fan, told me how he's so sick of rock stars and their attitudes, such as Paul Stanley, who he says is just out for fame and Gene Simmons who says a lot of rude things, and are egotistical. He won't go see them or buy records anymore. I'm hearing these conversations more and more on YT. I just happen to know a lot about AS and what they've been doing. If I had a band, based on what I did at my jobs, I would be this way and never was, for one, I needed my customers. Many rock stars/celebrities think they can get away with lack of integrity, again, as long as enough people don't call them out on it, or even if they do, such as with Axl, as long as fans go see them, they don't care. Some fans are no help because they're stuck in this wanting to see them live and won't boycott them. But they are corporations now--rock and roll like the 70s is dead dead dead. I've been afan of the Stones for over 30 yrs but I won't see them since their ticket prices are ridiculous, and when I could have easily seen them because I had the cash, the idea of paying that much for a 2 hr show is nuts to me. That all sounds kind of depressing, but I do hear it from lots of people, and at my last AS concert, I did hear people complaining about them taking too long to be on stage. Well, one thing I realize is that there's tons of good music to listen to, I've seen lots of bands that are cheaper to see, and I don't need any particular band to listen to, and since they don't give a shit, then so be it. They are the company they keep. If they've relied on image then image is a full picture of everything. :/ Have a great day. Sorry to be long, it's freezing out as usual.

They show up late often? When I saw them they started dead on time. But yeah, a lot of them are in it ONLY for the fame, which sucks and reflects on their work. That is why I like to support artists who work hard because it shows, it means thry care. I am a bit turned off by the idea of meeting musicians. If I admire.them and they turn out to be assholes (which is the most probable) Id.feel so stupid. So all I.expect is them to be responsible and respectful and humble with their job and fans. Here is summer by the way, haha, so is sundy and warm. Anyways, have a good.day too.
