Well they expanded the free trial portion of the game recently if you want to give it a look. You can play through the first 4 story arcs (out of 7, with an 8th ongoing), and all content up to level 60 (of 80) for free. Some people play for the story. Some for the community. Some for the exploration and sightseeing. Some for the crafting and in game markets. Its really a game you make your own. I will say the first 2 story arcs are largely considered exceptionally weak though (though they do world building fairly well). Most would say the story does not actually get good until the tail end of arc 2. But the story has been consistently good/great since.

@@klonoa7560 "Some people play for the story. " Actually that's where most sales records are at. Also it's not 2 arc, but for 4 for ARR, and same for all extentions you have after, you can actually count the chapters/Arc for one *campaign* through the new game plus window.

@@mariobadia4553 Each arc focuses on something specific, but they all connect together. So here are some vague story beats, and only light spoilers. A Realm Reborn (core game): Story itself is pretty meh. Its mostly just about the land and people recovering from the calamity (see the video FF14 The Flames of Truth), and dealing with the ever present threat of the Garlean Empire, Primals, and Ascians. But the world building is great. 7th Astral Era: More meh story (though events near the end such as the Bloody Banquet are great), more world building. Mostly just builds up for the next arc. Heavensward (1st expansion): Travel to the realm of Ishgard and get drawn into the thousand year long war its people have had with the dragons of Dravania. Dragonsong War: The finale of the above. Learn of other worlds. Discover a plot to take down the Garlean empire that could unravel the whole world. Stormblood (2nd Expansion): Travel to other lands subjugated by the empire and do your best to help their peoples. The Legend Returns: Garlean empire is pissed. Some old faces return in unexpected ways. Something is happening to your allies 1 by 1. A mysterious voice beckons you. Shadowbringers (3rd expansion) and Current ongoing 8th arc (they will name the arc after its final quest, which is not out yet): The events of all the previous arcs come to a head in these 2. And its seems we are drawing close to the end of this overall chapter for FF14 (think of Infinity War/Endgame for the MCU finishing off the current story, but more stories are on the way).

@@klonoa7560 you missed post-dragonsong which leads into stormblood Dragonsong ends with 3.3, post is 3.4-3.5 starting with the Warriors of Darkness and ending on baelsar’s wall You can check this in the completed quests tab, it lists them as separate stories But other than that you got all the arcs down, and now shadowbringers has ended with 5.3, meaning we’re heading into the ninth story arc for 5.4-5.5 in preparation for 6.0
