Thanks for continuing to check out aespa! They’re one of my top fav girl groups so it’s always nice to see peeps react to them! I’m gonna try my best to provide a comment here to point out and help explain any potential story/lore questions behind their group for you guys haha (and any other Mys - their fandom name - can correct me if I’m wrong anywhere). Nothing too crazy, just a basic TL:DR. So, aespa, even as a fan of them, I can say that they are quite the niche group in a way. Although I genuinely do believe one can get into them/like them on the surface, if you know the background, lore, terminology, and meaning behind things, then stuff like their songs (mainly the title tracks) can be more understood (and potentially even more enjoyable?). ‘Next Level’ and many other songs, especially in like the lyrics and visuals, are representative of their storyline and the different stages/episodes/chapters as they progress through. From their debut of ‘Black Mamba’ to their song ‘Girls’, that was like the first major overall section to their storyline: Basically, aespa is based around the real world and virtual reality (along with other themes). They have beings called ‘ae’, which are like the perfect avatar versions of themselves, that they can interact with (to the point of REKALL, where the ae can materialize in the real world beside them). But then, the villain who is the Black Mamba in this case, disturbs that connection (connection called SYNK) between aespa and their ae (disturbance known as SYNK OUT). So, the girls, with the help of Naevis (that short hair figure that appeared at the breakdown change, like their guide) helps them and the ae get to KWANGYA to defeat to Black Mamba. Like I said, very much a watered-down version explanation here lol. Other terms like P.O.S, KOSMOS, FLAT, etc. are also part of it. SM has actually put out episodes (a mix of live action from the girls, and then animation and comic style panels from a studio they hired I believe) and other videos which showcase and give insight into the story (someone else has left a comment on those it looks like!). Currently with where we’re at, aespa has already defeated the Black Mamba with their ‘Girls’ era, and with the start of their ‘Spicy’ era, onto the second section of their story, where they’re now in the real world again but a strange phenomenon seems to be occurring? I myself am still not too sure lol. Hope this was helpful though! Also, someone mentioned the song sounding familiar. Don’t know y’alls experience with the Fast & Furious movies, but this song is a remake of the song ‘Next Level’ from Hobbs & Shaw OST, so that’s probably where you might have heard it.

And they have to finish it to achieve what they are looking for (in the concept) just like ateez, their concept is about them being pirates who are searching for their treasure. And join them in their journey. And till now they have lots of chapters! You can also guess it by their song album names! 😊
