You probably won't see this but, I have been doing Sargon lately because I didn't wanna do Guan as a newer account to SOC. I tried almost every pairing because I want to run two infantry marches with him seperate to Scipio. I tried Sargon Aethelflaed / Scipio Alex when I formally used Sargon Alex / Scipio Charles in my canyon, and everyone I used to lose to, I was suddenly beating by 80k wounds and jumped up about 50-100 ranks daily in the sunset canyon and 100-200 in lost canyon. Not to mention the march speed with double relic is exceptional for sargon to stick to the target. I only tried this combo initially for Osiris league, then found out how strong it was through canyon. This combo is slept on for sure if you're new to soc

Omniarch- I really think you are on to something here with Joan Prime and Aethelflaed… in Osiris leagues(both in Anubus AND Horus) this combo had the highest win percentages in open field of any combo, by quite a bit- both being over 70%, where rest of Meta was around 55%…(I kept the screen shots because it intrigued me so much.) Additionally, Joan doesn’t have to be a Calvary so you can mix the troops slightly to get the additional stats AND you can go all the way with one point into Cage of Thorns to ensure the slow triggers, which I believe is worth going so deep in the Support Tree. What excites me most, is for F2P, Boudica brought back YSG and I believe Joan Prime with Aethelflaed does the same with 2 Meta marches all can do/get!

Richie/aeth has always been my go to, the march has survivability and while everyone always tries to focus it, your other marches wreck everything. It’s been even better for me since i added Sargon to my roster because richie’s slow makes it harder for people to run away from me so Sargon’s active skill usually gets fully applied. Also i use aeth/ysg for Canyon and I’m top 3 in my kd, actually found out that the combo does a lot better for me than Boudica/ysg (could be because of the synergy of the rest of my team but not really sure just wins me more matchups lol) so yea, aethelfled is a must have on any team imo 👍

In pre kvk and kvk 1 I used Baibars Aethel for the same reason. Been using Sala Aethel for about 6 kvks. This kvk is the first I'm benching her for Joan prime.

I've used this march a good bit in the past for the same role. You won't get much damage from that march, but what it will let you do is to make sure that marches can't get away from your damage dealing marches. I tweaked the talent tree and maxed both equestrian excellence and cage of thorns. But I wouldn't recommend in big group fights or just be willing to accept getting mostly the benefit of the stats debuff. You're better off rage jumping to a new target if your current target is retreating.

Crazy to think that, even on KVK4 now, Aethel is stil my strongest march, seriously I let her primary with my P. Scipio 5111 secondary, 180k infa, 10k archers, and 10k cava, with horn of fury, and overall 15% atk/def/health - and it's absolutely insane how fast wrecks with other marches. Of course if she gets targeted I have to immediately retreat... but after her first skill cycle, with Rejuvenate, she literally uses her active skill every FIVE turns She is absolutely a monster at Canyon too, always holding most of the kill almost everytime Love her so much I still don't know what kind of inscripted armaments I will give to her - boosting her resistance, or boosting her damage but she never disappoints

The 20% less counterattack damage is for the target you attack, not when they swarm you btw

I've experimented with Aethel/Richard as a combo. Richard has a 15% march speed reduction to up to 5 troops within an AoE cone in his active skill, AND a passive 50% march speed reduction proc from his exertise. Richard also a passive 15% dmg reduction, 10% counter-atk boost, 15% DEF, 15% atk, and 30% damage reduction within his active skill. Richard's relic also gives 10% march speed boost. I don't think Sargon/Aethel is ppurely viable as it lacks a lot of tankiness

As an archer who uses Æthelflæd, I'll add one more thing. Due to playing on Æthelflæd and 1 migration back in 2KvK (end of 2KvK to start of 1KvK) I currently have 1100 gold sculptures in the conquest season. This does not take into account the fact that I missed 7-8 Arks of Osiris and did not play Olympia by 20 points. So I could have about 1250 sculptures now, or even 1300. So, in my opinion, Aethelflaed must be used and made a YSG expert in order to have a lot of sculptures in the season of conquest and then make yourself several commanders of the season of conquest, being F2P.

Sargon honda seems like the next best pair and keep guan scipio. Hondas active skill slows down the target so it helps

Yes! More love for Etha. I never benched her. For me works almost with everyone. The debuff is just awesome and with a high march speed, you can be really annoying to the enemy. You cant swarm me because I'm too fast and you got a slow debuff :P Also meta playing is zero fun anyway

Ethel is such a good comander 100% free and is pretty good a 5511 is already good i used in kvk 2 a 5552 Ethel with my 5111 ysg yes I know wasted potential on the ysg even now but then I used Ethel primary with my ysg secondary it was pretty strong bad if it got targeted but strong I was a bit new to the game and wanted to change to a primary ysg so all Ethel gear was talented for archers not leadership still she was a good march with my Saladin cao cao dun tzu alex

Aethelfed have a fast rage Guage an gives secondary commander a rage boost, defense need to buff up for open field

The stat shortfall on having aethelflaed in a pairing gives me pause. She just seems like she would be a little too fragile, although Sargon plus the full infantry tree does meet us halfway on that. If I were to consider using this pairing, I would want a coin accessory to help keep them standing, plus it would get some extra value out of Sargon's expertise. Having a web somewhere in the murderball composition would be nice too.

Why not sargon suntzu? Suntzu gives more infantry health, skill dmg and have a 5 target aoe(expertised), albeit smaller than aethefled but wouldnt the extra skill dmg and infantry health make up for that

how the fck have you ‘F2P’ guys managed to save enough to max Sargon, when we just had Nevsky, then Boudica Prime, then Scipio Prime, then Joan Prime, BACK to BACK to BACK? I call BS, nobody that’s in their right mind would have chosen to save GHs for Sargon, when all these incredible Commanders have come out,, and you can’t change my mind, because these recent commanders released before Sargon and Tariq, have absolutely changed the meta of open field fighting? How many GHs are you proposing a F2P player can manage to save up in even one year at VIP 12?

And on top of that, ain’t no way your actually proposing that F2P players would somehow get better value out of maxing Sargon BEFORE they have Nevsky, Scipio, Guan, Boudica, and Joan expertised! But I love the content, this is just inaccurate if you’re going to put ‘for F2P’ in the title, as Trajan is the only commander I see being used open field with Aethleflaed, and it’s never F2P players I see in the field actually using that commander pairing. Sargon/Aethleflaed, if anything, would be considered an alternative to Trajan/Aethl, and in that regard should never be proposed as a good march for F2P, players to commit to, unless your account is old, and has already expertised the multitude of marches that are a million times better in the open field,,

You get her free in campaign mode, and when you go deep enough there, it's easy to get 3 each day plus a bit more from the other chests from that... so yeah, as ftp, you will use her, and since you're not leveling up a ton of legendary commanders, you'll likely have necessary stars too. She's not Meta per se, but if you are careful, Aethyl can improve your results.
