The PNG third edition specification includes a cICP chunk (colour independent code point) which allows images to be signalled with HDR characteristics including the transfer function and colour space. See how to work with cICP PNGs in Affinity Photo.

If you add support to export to .avif then I'll ditch adobe on the spot

So we can merge bracketing DNG file for full HDRI 32 bit in your software ? I also want to paint in ACES color space for my texture need in blender, i have a workflow that use rendering filmic or agx override with ACES 2069 in blender and for my davinci resolve video and ACES CG for my compositing and textures work, all my video and compositing are finalise in davinci resolve, im using krita and substance for 2D work but affinity seems a better option for keeping me full linear color space.

Stupid question but what are some uses of HDR photos online? At the moment if people haven’t got screens that can display them the tone mapped images seem worse than ever?

Instagram started to implement HDR in photos recently, but it seems to be a little messy for now. It's still not a very widespread technology, so save your RAWs intact for the future ☝ At any time you will be able to adapt a RAW image to any widespread format there will be in the future. Same for videos, if you shoot in the maximum quality possible, you're always future proofed. JPEG and sRGB/Rec709 is a tiny little format just for preview on the web so everybody can see your image the same.

Could you possibly share the images you used to create the whole image please? The HDR images I mean. Or point to their source perhaps? That would be really useful for experimentation. I find this really interesting. Mind-numbing actually, but really interesting. Thanks.

@@owsianelatte5876 not natively on macOS using display capture unfortunately (to clarify: you can record in HDR with an HDR-compatible capture card on macOS, but cannot capture HDR/EDR natively from the MacBook's own display). I think there's an issue with exported file sizes when exporting from raw photos (I tried different one's downloaded from internet and my personal). For example 40 MB RAW after exporting to PNG have more than 100 MB.
@JamesRitson
@JamesRitson 5 ай бұрын
That does sound about right-the HDR PNG export will be lossless and is in 32-bit per channel precision. RAW files are typically greyscale bayer sensor data at 12/14-bit precision (with only one channel), and may also use a form of compression. The PNG option is for high quality lossless interchange. If you want smaller file sizes, you may want to try JPEG-XL instead which supports HDR but allows for lossy compression. Hope that helps

Any performances improvement update soon? The v2 is a lot sluggish compared to the V1.
@TransformXRED

I thought it was just me. I didn't use the V1 so I can't compare. But I'm experiencing this after working on an image for a while, adding layers without any heavy effects. It slows down and it's noticeable. In the simple selection of layers in the panel, moving layers, etc. And I'm on a 3090, 64 Gb of ram and a 16 core cpu. The liquify tool is almost unusable for me too.
