What I want to see is someone use the Voigtlander 50mm F/1.0 Nokton ASPH VM. I believe it came out this year and seems excellent for photos, would love to see examples of people using it for video.

Voigtlander makes a series of lenses for canon and nikon called color skopar 2. They are phenomenal lenses with the 58mm 1.4 being a rival to anything from leica. I own a set and they're awesome.

The SLR magics for Sony are honestly the best set it’s everything you are talking about and more in a cine lens body

I recently picked up a voigtlander 75mm f2.4 (mainly for anamorphic use with an aivascope 1.75x) and I have really been enjoying it. Tiny, compact, but all metal and built like a tank, with a nice aesthetic, seems a bit less contrasty than my contax zeiss, and bokeh is quite smooth, definitely a fun little lens.

Wow the stuff shot on the Venice looked beautiful! I'd love to give these a try some day

Great video. Black magics best film imo for BMPCC4K launch used mft Voightlander set. 10.5 17.5 25 and 42mm in mft. Totally agree.. they have always been exactly that… a softer vintage look with modern housing, fast and fantastic build quality. Always been a fan but trying to have something similar for the Komodo has been an ongoing mission for me and I’m sure for many others who know the lens and like it’s look and feel. The throws aren’t long so would likely use it in the hand but it’s easy to put gearing on it. Btw not sure if you have tried the Cooke Panchros but they might have worked for your Sony Venice project. Thanks for the video. Excellent as always.

I have the 40mm 1.2 and it has crazy focus breathing. It is also super sharp at 5.6 and higher and soft wide open so hard to match shots. These lenses are best for stationary shots that don’t require focus and aperture changes like in top gun maverick.

I've been using the Voigtlander 40mm f2 for years. Great option.

I've been shooting with Voigtlander VM lenses for years now, and was one of the key factors that made me jump ship to the EOS R back when it was announced in 2018. My set of lenses have been used on my Hexar RF 35mm film camera and that's one of the main reasons why I didn't want to mod them at all for cinema use, but for fast run and gun and since I'm so used to rangefinder shoot, it's not a problem at all. However, you didn't point one of the key major differences between the E-mount version and VM of these lenses: their MOD (minimum object distance) for focusing. The E-mount version is able to focus up to 30cm (something around 11.8 inches) while the VM version - manufacturers` standards - is only able to focus up to 70cm (something around 2.3 foot). It's the biggest drawback IMO - which can be worked around if you get a close focus adapter for whatever system you may use, but it's not the most viable option for most people.

The f0.95 series for MFT they make are all intended for filming, de-clicked and long focus throw. Lovely lenses without a clinical feel.

I adore my 40mm voigtlander. Wish I could get more. A lot of the cockpit scenes in top gun maverick were shot on a voigtlander 21mm.

Not sure if Voigtlander makes cinema versions of their lenses but they do make different versions of their e-mount lenses that have a toothed focus ring as well as the ability to declick the aperture

I highly recommend looking at the Nokton 58mm 1.4 and Ultron 40mm f/2. There f-mount, so you can adapt them to just about anything. There awesome.

exactly. I own a set of these including the 90mm and they're all awesome. Now I want the rehoused 28mm and 90mm. the 105 and 180mm are price-wise out of reach for me.

Thanks for sharing this little gem - how do the Voigtlander compare to those Meike full frame Cinema lenses that you like? Similar in price and you mentioned the Meike lean vintage as well

The 50 1.2 is absolutely dreamlike when wide open If I was in an e mount ecosystem, I'd probably invest in a Duclos Cinemod set of voigtlanders

The 40 is a near 10/10. Shifts a bit green until the f2 mark but that’s not a big deal.

I’m oddly on the same thing. Red circle flares are better on the MC 1.4 but the new Voigtlander 35 1.2 has all the dampening you want on an M mount.
