Great all purpose AFFORDABLE snares.Hats off to Pearl.Young players perhaps starting out or seasoned players looking for an alternative snare that won't break the bank here ya go.Cant go wrong with pearl Modern Utility.!!!

Pearl does not make a snare drum that is less than excellent. I’ve owned many of them and currently my favorite is the 5.5x14 phosphor bronze Sensitone Elite.

The nuances of a high end snare get lost for most gigging situations. With an entire band behind you you can’t really hear the details of the snare & largely it’s the initial attack that really cuts through the mix. To me the difference of an expensive snare versus an average snare is in the overtones. The higher end snares tend to have more pleasing overtones which are more important in a studio application. However there are exceptions to the rule and the type of music being played would have an effect. Extreme metal largely wont matter but some blues or jazz you might be more concerned.
