Kunar , Afghanistan, this was the end of a very long exhausting weeks trip to Nuristan, this was an unexpected stop as we were camping and had tofind a place to set up camp...we saw this empty flat land by the bridge from the road, but once we drove all the way there, it was a dead end...the rest you can see, the week had taken its toll on us all at this point , with exhaustion, very little food and you can see, The poverty situation in these villages all over Afghanistan is dire, i visited the only clinic with minimal medications and 100-150 people each day showing up! They are so remote in these places that they say they get forgotten by WFP and many other NGOs. It was so sad to see, i was desperate to see in a home but it couldnt be arranged it seemed, i have lots of Nuristan coming as well as other things, i just threw this our first for a break from Kabul..stay tuned and please like and subscribe as it will help me a lot! thank you so much! oh and a huge thanks to Maryius the german tourist for giving me his tent and he took the kids chinese sun canopy tent!! his instagram is below 👇

From the US, Thank you for showing us how beautiful this country is. I have honestly never heard one positive thing about the Taliban until I saw your channel. Not saying theyre good, but it seems they are providing some stability to the region which can only be good for its people.

If they are providing stability and safety for their country I would say their good by default. Remember if your from the west we have views that are misconstrued by our western media and many times its not the truth but rather the opposite of truth.

Dear Emma. They are trying to protect you because they think you are a woman and needs to provide you security. If anything happens to you then the entire tribe would be ashamed. Usually they take the gusts to their houses but they don’t force anyone. They are being honourable. So be happy because they will make sure you are protected while you are there in their village.

It is a bit hard to see that the interpreter doesn't translate everything; They say the village is safe but they offer you people to guards just for you to feel safe and not to be worried, free of charge, as you are staying in their village , just as an attitude of generosity and hospitality. The person says I live over and I will come to check on you anyway .

This is a pure quality content! It's so heartbreaking to see the village people have genuine kindness to tourists who visit their area. The view is like little heaven on Earth. And the Pashtun kids are beautiful, a lot of them also have blue eyes, light skin, and blond hair. The adorable boy with disability will want you back and remember you in his whole life. Emma, you have such a loving heart for Afghani people and they love you so easily too like sugar candy attracts a bunch of ants, so adorable. You have brought joy to them. On the contrary, I've also watched two Brit guys visiting Afghanistan as well with 5,6 mil viewers but at the end of their video they threw a question to one another, "Will you be back to Afghanistan?" Whether they were joking or serious, their answers were, " Absolutely.... NOT!" I think that is disrespectful to say such thing like that to a country that is still struggling to stand up on their own. I guess consistant Taliban checks on tourists had stressed them out so much and with the unstable condition there economically and socially. Emma you have shown compassion to Afghani people who need attention and support from other people from different countries. Eventhough you are just a tourist there, what made you special is that you have a motherly side in you that the people could sense especially the little kids. May God bless and protect you Emma... 💝

I don't think they're poorest in the world. It's just the modern society/world perceive them of how they survive without modern technology and stuff like that we use nowadays. But the way i see them, they're like the ancient survivors, farmers, carpenter and etc all that kind of workers you heard from historian. Pretty amazing i'd say

People often count the amount of dollars thinking the more the better but price, scarcity availability and whether its essential or a luxury just shows you can be somewhere like Venezuela where many are surviving on 5 us dollars a week yet they have food yet you can be in europe living on the street begging and barely able to eat. Those lliving in tents out of work are a good example. However for sure there are starving babies with starving mums in refugee camps, the husband is dead from the war. It may be minus 20 c at night. No shelter from snow and no fire or blankets with kids suffering extreme. Hunger skin and bone.

war, illiteracy.lack of basic infrastructure, education, health and clinics and anti women tribalism and lack of a functional givernment that actually develop their society is a big bane. European and Americans can compenaste for what the military industrial cmplex destroyed by helping NGO and small business development in this land of 39 million very poor people.

Emma repeats how sad she is about the way the people live there, but they don't seem unhappy to me. And that they don't have a store there? What for? Would they be happier if they built a supermarket there in all that beauty? I know X people who would immediately exchange the comfort of their lives for the opportunity to live in such an environment. I don't pity those people, maybe I rather feel pitty for us.

When you hear the locals talk about how they struggle to feed their families, they have no money for food , for medical supplies, school supplies… they are stuck in winter with little to no heat , they were asking for help because no aid workers get there to deliver basics like flour and rice … when you spend time talking with them then maybe you will understand…

@@WanderingEmma I'm not saying they shouldn't and can't live better. If they're going to be lucky enough and will have at least a decade or two of Peace, I believe they can sort out the things like supply from the city. They seem like intelligent people. I would very much like them to do that. What I would not wish for them, on the other hand, is to help them to our form of civilization. Cause everything has its price. Form of poverty that scares me much more is in slums in India or in cities like Bogota and the like. Poverty associated with violence, lawlessness and ubiquitous "mess". But don't take this as a polemic with you. I'm just thinking out loud. Your travels and ability to communicate with the locals are very informative and as well as entertaining.

The most important thing for you is to have an experienced English speaking and understanding interpreter and to be familiar with the culture of that area.

Dear Emma, your interpreter is a Persian speaker. He does not understand Pashto and local culture, I am a retired interpreter, I can hear it that he is struggling and missing main sentences, And your interpreter added things that the local man did not mention, their main concern was your scarcity and peace of mind.

This was a good one emma. Peaceful village life Muslims people don’t view the world as “unfair”. We see it as a testing ground in preparation for the next life/final destination, we each have a written portion of worldy gains and trials.

I found the people in general are so kind and good people and i dislike stereotyping everyone whether they are called. Taleban, pathuns or whoever they are or where they are from. Emma the beauty is seeing such kind, friendly and innocent in some ways people. Some have suffered so much and lost family, friends, neighbours in the war. Politicians affect the world so much and its truely such an education as we travel and hear the life stories of people round the world and their feelings, beliefs and what freedom means to them. T

Well at least everyone we saw there looked very healthy, clean and well dressed. Their health overall is probably better than in some places in the west with chronic obesity etc. I wouldn't like to be there over the winter though. Looks like the kind of place that would be cut off by snow.

As an Afghan, I am not a secret from my country, because all its young people migrate for a piece of bread, which I personally have in Iran.😢😢😢
