Fantastic to watch. Africa Mercy used to sail as a railway ferry between Fyn and Sjælland in Denmark. Sales with her many times as a child and it’s fun to see how much of the original design has remained.

All of your videos really inspire me! I am 13 years old and I've been watching docomentarys, short clips and your videos to learn about the Africa mercy ship. My dad is the one who showed me and it's something I look foward to doing when I get older. I looked at job positions with my dad on the mercy ships website and they had an opening for a pre-school teacher! And ever since then I want to become that when I grow up or maybe even a Nurse! I love watching your videos! Keep up your great work - Myra 😊

Thanks for watching and journeying with me through this all! you're awesome!

Somehow I missed this video, I just happen to see it today when I was scrolling through my subscriptions, I can't believe I missed it. Oh well, Im seeing it now. :p But anyways, what a great tour of the ship. Thank you so much for sharing it! :) is there an elevator in the ship for patients? The hospital I worked at moved a lot of patients up and down floors. That's so awesone that the pool was made from a recycled container lol did I hear that right? #cantcontainerit, lol. I really like how all of the nurses get to stay in the rooms next to each other by the hospital, that is pretty cool. Its like their own little neighborhood. :p There is something seriously awesome about being a Nurse, haha. :) That ship is so awesome: the gym, the pool, the family cabins, the couple's cabins, the gally, the hospital, the worship hall. :) it must be pretty awesome to have your family there too. So awesome, thanks for sharing Carys. :)

John Tuffield thanks for your awesome comments as always John! Yes we do have an elevator, we don’t tend to use it that often but for our orthopedic patients or others who really need it to get up to deck 7 to be outside we definitely use it. I love this Ship too, you’re right it’s definitely like a little village and we love our nurses! They’re the coolest and I hope you can come one day to join the nursing community here aboard.

Do single doctors have to sleep in a 4 person cabin? or do they get a nicer cabin?
@CarysParker
@CarysParker 6 жыл бұрын
From what I've seen single surgeons tend to stay in guest cabins because normally they only come for 2-4 weeks at a time. I had a friend who was a long term doctor and had a single cabin though!

Unfortunately the ship does not take emergency cases, all of our patients are pre-screened and the doctors and nurses volunteer to be on our emergency medical team which responds to crew/patient emergencies

Yes, the cafeteria in the middle of the ship looks exactly like on board of the sister ships "Prins Joachim" (later renamed to "Morocco Star" and in service on the Strait of Gibraltar today) and "Kronprins Frederik" (laid up in Puttgarden, Germany. Sometimes in use as reserve between Puttgarden and Rødby, Denmark).
