Great video, I’ve been wanting to change mine and haven’t done it before. A lot less intimidating when you can watch someone do it first. Cheers! 🇨🇦

Thank you for sharing. I appreciate your insights. Considering all the work that goes into this process, I would have opted to not use the old oil rather I would have invested the time to fetch more at the store. Call it perpetual bad luck if you will, but every time I take a shortcut it always seems to come back and bite me. Great video otherwise.

Spit on. Just a little tip, never let the lock tight nozzle touch metal. Just let a drop fall on as it reacts with metal and even a tiny bit going back into the bottle that has touched metal can ruin what's left in the bottle mate. Great video

Good one Pommy :) ...Eh, I recon that dropping a few ft pound on the bottom clamp helps with the ware issue with the anodizing wearing off... I dropped 3 ft pound to my bottom clamp and it seems to have helped ...Tho I do have Andrinie front cartridges in my tubes ... did you have a look down the tubes to see if you have ware? ...anyways good vid for the punters mate ...

Why didn’t you check the fluid height in the fork after adding oil? It doesn’t matter how much oil you pour into the fork. It matters that the fluid height is correct after bleeding all the air out of the cartridge. It will also ensure both forks have same level of oil.

Didnt know that millimeters was completley different from millimeters. Im a Builder and Same same to me.. Lol. Cheers for the tip 👍👍
@HavaCrack2 жыл бұрын
You should check the oil level in mm (factory springs with springs out is 95mm) othersprings is different.

You made that look easy for anyone to do themselves. If the right side was leaking, doesn't that mean you have to replace the fork seal?
@WulfOnTheRun4 жыл бұрын
It was leaking until i cleaned it out. And reseated it i hope. 😳

When I got my AT I was replacing my fork seals when they started leaking, my first ADV bike. Found the Fork Doctor and haven’t had to replace one since. I do a lot of off road and probably don’t do a good enough clean up job after each ride. When I do replace them next I’m definitely going SKF rather than stock seals.

The shop manual I downloaded says the brake caliper mounting bolts are torqued to 45 N-m. The manual also calls them ALOC bolts which, I guess, should be replaced each time - not reused. I'm going to reuse them and use blue loctite. Your thoughts?
@WulfOnTheRun Жыл бұрын
I've recently done another strip and fork oil change. Used the same bolts again. And at the mo half way to Western Australia from Melbourne. Touch wood all going well. 👍👍 Loctite seems a good idea to me.

Hi from Montreal: have a V-strom 1000 2015 inverted fork. I didint change the seal, just changing the oil. Manual say 570 ML......... I just collected 250 ML of old oil. Do you think over the years and milage, we loose a bit a oil at every suspension move? (have no seal problem at all) thanks
@WulfOnTheRun3 жыл бұрын
Yes definitely loose oil. Gravity against us. Thanks for the comment... Enjoy 👍👍

Left marking? It is only hole for the ABS sensor on left side, it is impossible to do it wrong.
@WulfOnTheRun2 жыл бұрын
No abs on this model 😳
@johnnynormann55312 жыл бұрын
@@WulfOnTheRun I hate this ABS, and all the other things that makes this mashine a rolling computer. I was sure all the new ones had "all the gadgets". Is some of it missing on the 2016?
@WulfOnTheRun2 жыл бұрын
@@johnnynormann5531 yes mate it's a basic model. No ABS or traction control. No gravel,tarmac,grass settings just 1 down 6 up and hope you stay on. 😆😆
