African Forest at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens
Originally opened in two phases as the Great Ape Loop in 1998 and 1999.
Renovations began in 2017 and Great Ape Loop reopened as the African Forest (Great Apes of the World) in 2018.
Species here include
Bonobos
Western Lowland Gorillas
Mandrills
Angolan Colobus
Black-and-White Ruffed Lemur
Ring-tailed Lemur
Blue-eyed Black Lemur
Guereza Colobus
Coquerel's Sifaka

The African Forest in Jacksonville is beautiful. Love the overhead tunnels for the apes to walk overhead. The exhibit looks so realistic for the Bonobos and other apes. Bonobo handshake LOL! That's horrible how they are hunted. Guandia was lucky. The babies are so cute. The colobus are so pretty. Hate that they are so endangered. Lemurs are so cool. I can't see them though without thinking of the Kratt Kreatures. LOL WOW! Had no idea they were so intelligent though.

Jacksonville did a fantastic job designing this habitat. I really like overhead tunnels in exhibits, we will see one more like that in the land of tigers exhibit. Lemurs are one of my personal favorites to watch, they are a lot of fun when they are active. Glad you enjoyed the video!

That was my first time visiting this zoo, I really enjoyed the tiger and jaguar exhibits.

Bonobos are my favorite of the great apes. So nice to see them being cared for well at this zoo! Also anyone who has done a bit of research on bonobos knows what the “bonobo handshake” is 😂

Have to keep this channel family friendly 😂... I really enjoyed this habitat a lot, it edged out San Diegos Bonobo exhibit for me.

I believe Cincinnati was going to mix colobus monkeys with the gorillas according to their old master plan which also called for a new gorilla indoor/outdoor space, and okapi yard.

@@ZoosTravelers I doubt it the gorillas already have a new indoor area but the outdoor yard needs to go if they wanna let go of the incident in the next 20 years.

I'm sure they'll modify the outdoor area at some point. Would like to see them do something with the old bear pit area

I hope the Rhino Reserve is still on the table, It's been awhile since I've read up on any masterplans.
