Talking heads Bassist Tina Weymouth is by far my favorite female ROCK STAR. The concert film "Stop Making Sense" is so great I gave a copy to each of my brothers last Christmas.

Weymouth is a monster. But she always served the song which is the highest praise you can give a bass player.

"Life During Wartime" was the lead singled from their 1979 album, Fear of Music. I remember hearing it on the radio back then. This video is from the concert film "Stop Making Sense" which came out when I was a teenager. Good stuff! Asked about this song in interviews David Byrne said "I was thinking about Baader-Meinhof. Patty Hearst. Tompkins Square. This a song about living in Alphabet City." Alphabet City is a section of Manhattan were the streets are named after letters. Struggling artists find inspiration where they will. Ednah Holt and Lynn Mabry are the backing singers in the video. Dig how rather than hide them near the wings of the stage as other bands sometimes do, Talking Heads set them right up front with David Byrne where they can all dance around together during the instrumental sections of the songs. When you're ready for more from Talking Heads check out "Once In A Lifetime", "This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)", "Girlfriend Is Better", "Pulled Up", "Take Me To The River", "Crosseyed and Painless", and "Nothing But Flowers" among their many hits. Also check out Tom Tom Club, "Genius of Love", a top ten hit back in 1981 for a side group formed by Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz of Talking Heads.

Perfect, Fay. btw you will love the whole movie "Stop Making Sense"... the two back- up singers (Ednah Holt and Lynn Mabry) have more fun than anybody, even making fun of David Byrne. Peace, love and bellbottoms.
