what really annoyed me frank was the flak they got from playing sun city, the media and some fellow musicians slated them but what you never hear about is the good Queen done in south africa, nobody talks about the schools for the blind they financed and built, Queen just wanted to go there and play it had nothing to do with politics or aparthied, people had them all wrong! freddie was a very generous man

In live shows, Freddie was constantly jumping up and down from the piano, running marathons around some really HUGE stages (much larger than this relatively small one), handing that mic back and forth to his roadie, sometimes switching off with a smaller mic that was easier to run around stage scaffolding with.😄 You should check out ANY performances from Milton Keynes Bowl in 1982 or Wembley Stadium in 1986, as well as Queen's famous 20 minute set at Live Aid in 1985, known to be the best performance in rock music history.🖖

Your admiration for all of Queen's musicians is great. In the Milton Keynes live concert, on Dragon Attack, the lead guitarists string broke. Without a pause, the bass player (seldomly front and center) carried a bass line solo as Dr. May switched out guitars and picked up his solo. You have to watch closely but it is brilliant.

Oh, there was beer there too, in the plastic glasses, for his thirst, the paper cups held hot tea with lemon and honey for his throat. Singing at that level tends to dry the mouth and throat and is murder on the vocal chords. The tea with lemon and honey lubricates and relax them. So...beer to quench and tea to soothe. Smart man, Freddie.

Today April 19, and 48 hours on, we can see/stream the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert - 30 years anniversary - . It is amazing - I have seen some of it - I hope that they are streaming the whole concert - with some of the greatest musicians of all time - .

Check out Sweet's stage costumes from loosely this same era, Muse are the same with backing vocals most of the time, as were Sweet and bands like Genesis from the seventies

Great reaction, thanks! Subbed for Queen. I hope you will do more! Queen will never disappoint! There is no better live band IMHO. They can do nearly any genre. Check out Queen's Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow 1974 or You Take My Breath Away live at Hyde Park. White Queen live at Hammersmith 1975 mentioned below is fantastic.

Freddie died in 1991 from AIDS, RIP legend. But the rest of the band are very much alive. John retired from music in 1997, but Brian and Roger still perform as Queen.

@mystic relaxation music They are still existing as the Queen and Adam Lambert. After Freddie Mercury's death John Deacon left the band in 1997, but Brian May who is one of the greatest guitarrists and Roger Taylor the drummer are still playing, both of them over 70.

The lead singer, Freddie Mercury died November 24,1991, all the other guys are still alive. John Deacon, the bass player went out of the public eye not long after Freddie died. He is still involved with the band in ways behind the scenes, mostly with finances I believe, he was always gifted in that area. Roger Taylor and Brian May still perform with Adam Lambert. Covid got in the way but they may have plans to do more. I think Adam is very good and I'm glad he is helping Roger and Brian keep Queen music going, but there will never be another Freddie Mercury. Adam doesn't try to copy Freddie but brings his own personality to the music. I think that is as it should be.

If you'd look at the mike, you'd see there's no base on it, because it broke off. He needs to get it without a break in the music. So I guess that was the quickest way.

You're so laid back, man - it's great. You stopped later in the video and just said, "he can sing very extremely, extremely well." It was just that you said this as kind of stating a fact, which it is, but most reactions are more emphatic with superlatives. Keep on rocking, Shawn! Have you heard Rush? Alex Lifeson is another guitarist you would like. Rush has a lot of great music out and La Villa Strangiato off of the Hemispheres album is in everyone's top 5 for sure.

Somebody has probably said this but the guitar that Brian May plays was built by him and his dad in the early 1960s for less than £18. The inflation adjusted amount is about £374.
