People may think that her voice is nasal but it is not, her voice sounds like a teen age girl in all her career, U can watch her songs from 1950s, or 1960s and u will not find any difference in her voice than what u heard in this video which is very close to 2000.

Lata is the World Greatest Singer . Over 50 Thousands songs and over 25 different languages. She has been singing for over 10 decades. Her music played all over the world especially the Caribbean .

She ia not nasal.she is the pillar of the indian bollywood music..she started singing from 1946 n wen u r watching her she is probably 77 years old...ok. U listen her songs not even 1 percent people are able to match her...she has very sweet n very complex songs till tday not body is able to match the sound quality technique n tone...so pls she is not nasal.

Sounding nasal is not an insult. A slightly nasal voice can work (and sometimes even to be embraced) depending on the style of music that you are singing. In classical/opera and some forms of pop music, a thin, nasal sound would not be preferred, while in other styles such as country, folk, blues, or even some forms of soul and R&B, a slightly nasal sound can work depending on the repertoire.

and actually the singers you are listening are the best female and male playback singers of indian music industry, udit narayan and Lata mangeshkar, sadly lata ji deid few days ago at the age of 92, the whole nation paid tribute, she is one of the rare personality who was only one with sachin tendulkar having bharat ratna(the highest civillian award) at current stage. and the song they were singing here is also of SRK film mohabattein and hamko hamise chura lo means stole my soul out of me. And the third most famous face related to music in india is the legend AR Rahman, and the trio have many songs togheter so you react, and actually if you will listen lata ji songs listen to his earlier days songs as she was over 70 at this point, you will witness that no any female singer today can even be made to compare with her, but yeh i will surely surely recommend you to listen (agar tum saath ho from tamasha) a highly popular song as it is sung by arijit singh, the most famous singer currently and composed by AR Rahman. thank you again

Her voice is anything but nasal. She was probably 70 ish when she did this concert. Can you sing like that at 70? a lot of people can't even walk at that age. I am not putting you down btw. She is Maa Sarswatti. Lata, Rafi, Kishore, Asha, Noor Jahan are untouchable.

Is it just me or did anyone else notice she really look annoyed at 5:13 when udit narayan told her to stop her part, and queued her when she was up? She kinda just shook her head in a dignified manner. Did anyone else see that?

She was at weddings, family events, religious ceremonies, everywhere! There was never a family event where this woman's voice was not in the background. She was legendary. She'll be missed.

@@koustavb I am sorry to say that your observation about Udit sir is not correct here, this is not called stopping but he was guiding her because of her old age and she is not annoyed at all. See at 7:17 she forgets to sing her line and Udit sir realizes it but manages it gracefully. They shared a mother-son kind relationship, in fact he is way younger than her but Lata ji always called him Udit ji 😊

Her voice is not nasal. Her voice purely comes out of vocals. Using Nasal voice in north in;dian music is against the rule of Hind;ustani music.

The composer’ of the music was very wise of the arrangement not really the voice as per normal and used the classical full instrument and Have a little mixed the indian culture classical and western classical influences of the music pattern fast of flowing of violins sound and full the wind instrument impact the listeners However, to be believed that the destiny….. of the person…successful

whatever nasalness you hear in her voice is only due to her being over 70 years old. I actually feel upset when I see people constantly reccomending videos of her singing when her voice is nothing even remotely close to what it was in her prime. She sounds amazing for a 70 year old, but you will get zero understanding as to why shes the icon that she is from this video.

@@exploreworldmusicwithshawn6694 yea. So just for your information, she was what we in india call a "playback singer". Indian cinema usually have several songs that feature in the films. However, actors and actresses do not sing. Instead, playback singers provide the vocals and actors lip sync. You should watch the song "Lag Ja Gale" from the 1964 Indian Film "Woh Kaun Thi". Lata Mangeshkar sings that song for the actress in the video.

you saying she is Nasal, that’s truly give the idea of your hearing of vocal judgment . you have bad hearing of vocal to judge.And you saying you are musician. she singing from throat and stomach. just listen carefully . the voice texture she is using it’s hard to judge.
