Every African clan wants to be associated with ancient Egypt 😀. Its easy to see why. Egypt's is the most advanced civilization in history. Any way, thanks Theresa for this very interesting & well researched video. I look forward to your follow up videos. From a Johannesburg chased Mosotho.

The Proto-Sotho people come from Meroe in modern day Sudan. I mentioned this on a video claiming we come from from West Africa and i quoted Wikipedia as my source. A few weeks later the Wikipedia article was changed to say Proto-Sotho come from West Africa 😂

Some people are heavily invested in the narrative that Bantu people come from West Africa, even if this goes against all oral history of the Bantu people. You have to wonder why? I have nothing against West Africa and Cameroon is just a meeting point between Bantu people and West Africans. To say the first Bantu people come from there is like saying a meeting point between Lesotho and Zululand is where Basotho and Amazulu originate from. A meeting point is nothing but a meeting point. Not a point of origin. Besides, according to science Africa is more genetically diverse than the rest of the world combined. It's very easy to tell a Southern African from a West African. On top of that looks can also be deceiving. Some people like to claim that we're genetically the same with West Africans. You don't even need to be a scientist to understand this obvious difference in our genes: there's a genetic medical condition called Sickle Cell Disease which is very common in West Africa and non-existent among the natives of South Africa and neighbouring countries. African Americans have this condition, showing that they came from West Africa; but we don't have it, showing that we don't come from West Africa.

As far as saying "Basotho are the people of the sun" could also mean the San tribe which later form with the Khoi to be now the Khoi-San. Maybe that what is meant about the sun(San)

That's great and impressed by the presentation. We as Afrikans must be careful when going with the history not written by us as Afrikans. Example who were Bakoni who built earliest calendar around 250000BCE around in Southern Afrika. Is name distorted from the Bakoena of today.

Thank you! You are correct. Some versions of African history seem to have been written based on bias or a misunderstanding of our culture. That's very interesting, I was not aware of that. Would that then mean the notion that African clans are named after the animal the leaders venerate is wrong? I'm asking because it is said that Bakuena are named after their founding ancestor Koena, who his ancestors named him so because they would liked him to venerate the characteristics of the koena (crocodile)
@phumzijele7931
@phumzijele7931 10 ай бұрын
Yes for some reason, Africans are associated or attached to animals, most of our totems like Koena, Nyathi, Motsweni-tsweni, tholo,tlou-ndlovu etc that includes vegetation and the landscape. In Nguni if a child is mischievous or sickly: you hear the elders say " uthunyiselwe ngenyamazana engeyona" meaning they've used a wrong animal(rituals) when the child is born. Animals have a meaning to Africans in general if have that belief. The other notion that Khoisan are the first to arrive in southern Africa is neither here nor there. The question, were do they come from? Answer is Africa. The Khoisan are allover southern Africa unfortunately, non of our educated skilled people are interested in that field, like Dr Anta Cheik Diop. I once visited northern Cape, there's strong similarities between the Khoisan and the BaTswana. Amongst the Khoisan there are BaKhotho, BaSarwa BaGrikwa who are in the south eastern Cape. Amongst the Ngunis Abathwa who are within these groups.

@@phumzijele7931 I find what you're saying fascinating. Nna I've always wondered why rona as South Africans are not rewriting our history? Cheik Anta Diop, although African, was a Senegalese. I don't think it would have be fitting for him to explain who the southern Africans were, despite being African. Although , in the broader scheme of things, we could give him more credit than europenas for narrating African history. I just think its imperative on us to assume our history, and it starts in our spaces, like at work, at public spaces etc, anywhere were dialogue persists. South Africans should tell the world about the history of Sourth Africa. When it comes to Kemet, Kush and all those places, then hey, its free fo all, that one is all of us together.

Interesting.Mosebetsi o motle. But I think its partial truth. Its true in that it explains the origins of Basotho, or who we call Basotho, particularly their migrations. But if you were to explain who Basotho are(this includes all black South Africans), genetically, then you may find a completely different narrative. For example, Africa was teeming with life 100 000 years ago, from homo naledi and Florisbad people in South Africa, to many many hominins in east Africa. I think who we are as a people is a mixture of all these hominins(I believe hore they interbred). Resulting in a people whom you cant pinpoint to a specific location, but rather the entire continent. In all of us, there is admixture with the Khoi and San as well, although they teach us hore we are separate. Yes, there are distinctions, but also nuanced similarities between all of us.

Kea leboha. This is a very interesting narrative to note, and well explained. There have been similar explanations, ehlile ekannaba ha ua fosa. Especially because the migration is missing some information itself kae kae. I hope more information will one to light in the future that will prove for certain what happened.

Your half true, although we did mix a lot but, mitochondrial dna carries the ancestry to which you can pin point where your mothers side comes from originaly and it's only passed on by Woman to children. On the other hand Y chromosomes can can pinpoint your father origin and its passed only from father to son. So every individual can pinpoint exactly where their ancestors came from originally. But do I agree basotho are not entirely from niger/congo as the are khoi/xam mixtures within.

Batho ba tswa kae ? has plagued mankind from the beginning of time , since we are born by our mothers the answer became we come from one another ( Re a tswana / re Batho ba batswang mo go ba bangwe/ re Batswana ! Batho ba a Tswana not created ! More clues : Ntsalake “cousin “ friend by birth Mme “Mother” mother of me Have you ever wondered why Botswana was not colonised but protected from colonisation though everyone else was colonised ? Those that colonised and lied about the origins of Batho or Bantu as they like to call us in Southern Africa knew the truth ! Don’t be fooled by biased history!

@@lesothowiththeresialibe7968 not exactly Botswana per say but Southern Africa is the original common place of our ancestors and yes Setswana is the original language , many words and names found in many different languages sounding the same or similar meaning exactly the same things as in Setswana! This shows that factions and break ups lead to disassociation meaning change of language and culture to make themselves different from the Main group still some words , names and cultural aspects remained unchanged ! The San also have Setswana in their language , one example is Nxake in San and Nnake in Setswana , sounds the similar and means the same thing! My young sibling.

@@lesothowiththeresialibe7968 no I don’t know of any research ! Just me recognising words when people speak and asking what it means only to find out it means what I thought it meant , like matata in Swahili is mathata in Setswana meaning worries , troubles or difficulties! And i found murimi 👩‍🌾 in Shona is molemi 👩‍🌾 in Setswana meaning a crop farmer ! To have many words in many different languages meaning or describing the same things in one language informs my opinion that Setswana is the original language! Nama🥩is meat in Setswana but is also found in Ghana & Nigeria meaning meat .

Origin of the Bantu is from North East of Africa (NTswana tsatsi letlhakeng) and stay in Egypt for years. Bantu people move out of Egypt going down south crossing the reed sea.Question:Where will the Most High find them? ZEPHANIAH 3:10 & 20 KJV. Please check your map for this.

What you are saying is interesting, because there are a lot of conflicting theories about the location of Ntsoana-Tsatsi. Could it be that the one you're referring to is the one also called the Congo basin? So you think they'll go back to Egypt at some point?😁

Bantu speaking group claim to come from Kemet, but according European scholars the Bantu people migrated from Cameroon. Dr Cheik Anta Diop and Theophile Obenga proved that Bantu languages were related to Kemet language. For example, the BaLemba people are Jews who were high priest travelled from Senna to southern Africa. They(European scholars) tried to deny it by using DNA unfortunately it proved them wrong.
