I feel that seeing places such as that brings out all those years of pent up emotions. It may be on the way of enabling the healing process that many of us need. Perhaps some are not aware of having any knowledge of the effects and issues that are emotionally buried.

I am thousands of miles away from the continent and I am watching a prerecorded video and it causes my eyes to full with tears… I can’t imagine what these Guides , people who was experiencing this tour Felt ..The atrocities that took place on the African continent are never mentioned whenever genocide and Human Rights are Mentioned.. What that Monster Belgium King did to the Congolese people and the Germans did to Rwanda and the French did to Togo and other African countries aren’t mentioned..Only European Genocide Matters and is spoken about and European as two words for their Genocide ,(NEVER AGAIN)..The only people that had felt no sympathy for what was done to the indigenous people of the African continent are Europeans..

Hmmm. Tour guides "knowing how" to make you cry?! I dont get it - they are just simply narrating the history behind what you ar seeing. D u want them tk laugh when they talk about these. These guides have become immune to the pain they see everyday doing their work. I cannot do such a job, too painfall

@@ernestmwape Having worked in travel and tourism for over 30 years. I stand by my statement. They are good at what they do and they know how to do it . Some of them can be overly dramatic with the details they give. This is in no way meant to diminish the history of the stories they are telling.

@@chrisc1881 i ve also seen my fair of tourist guides that ar so patriotic or commercial in their orientation. The slave dangeons in west Africa, Robben Island in South Africa, genocide museum in Rwanda or Nazi "ovens for humans" in Berlin, Nagasaki/Hiroshima dont need dramatic story tellers - just like Derick Calvin with his knee on George Floyd's neck dont need anybody to describe what happened. A culprit surely needs to whitewash and revise his "story" sometimes🤷‍♂️🤔

Unfortunately today, nowadays in Africa where such a tragedy took place, millions must be born to suffer simply because they want to be free, people must be in jail in similar conditions because they have dared to say they want democracy, thousands must flee persecution and deprivation, millions must live in an atmosphere of fear despite such castles of horror that say a past where Africans were denied freedom, respect, benevolence. Nowadays people in Africa perpetuate such a past and they find thousands of reasons to justified it. This is the other tragedy, the modern one. And for African Youth in the Diasporas such a past is a requirement for them to behave with dignity in respecting themselves and others, by staying away from gangs and all these troubles of knives crimes, etc.
