Whites in Africa know how this feels - in the 1990s a prominent white person (Richard Leakey) tried to run for Parliament in Kenya. He was beaten by a mob and the next day the Kenyan President (Daniel Arab Moi) informed the nation that while white Kenyans could marry natives, they could not run for Office. This is the country that Obama comes from (well, half). Can you imagine the uproar if Obama was beaten up by a mob and the next day the President of the USA addressed the nation and said that while blacks could marry whites they could not run for Office in the USA. White people in Africa are living in 19th Century Black America as far as politics is concerned.

The University of Pretoria was built by whites in 1889. It is the 2nd highest rated University in South Africa (and also Africa - the highest rated being the University of Cape Town - also built by whites). It has many famous Alumni of all races, the most notable possibly being Elon Musk. It will be interesting to track how that changes in the future now that racial politics is at the forefront of the University's concerns.
