I know a case of someone who always believed in staying away from married man ...and still fell in love for a married man , who lied to her for 3 years into the relationship. When he told her she ended the relationship because she couldn't trust him again. Sad. She's still single twenty years later .She has never found the right one and has given up. She's happy alone though. Linda there is nothing wrong staying away from toxic people and situations. Many family members a century ago would poison and kill one another for power . Unfortunately times moved on but there still family members not worthy of our trust and energy. Keep grounded you will be provided with people you need in time. I would forgive your husband....but would never forget he is not worthy of your love . I don't follow society norms , I go by my own moral and values, don't care what others think as long it feels right to me .

Linda should forgive them both. The forgiveness is not for their wellbeing, it's for Linda. Forgiveness heals the person who forgives. However, I would feed them with a long spoon, meaning that she should put some distance between them and her. And it other hand, both Jon Claude and his mother in law bears equal responsibility.
