After 20+ years of sitting I swapped in a junkyard LS |1976 K10 project

In this video we take my ‘76 K10 Scottsdale for its first drive after first tying up some of the loose ends it needed. I picked this truck up after sitting for a long long time, and I basically just put an LS motor and supporting equipment into it to get it running.
Look for more videos on this truck as I continue to make it a driver... or more better

Dude I just brought home a 1976 squarebody I rescued from a field and as I was driving it away I did the exact same thing, wondered when 3rd gear was going to engage, reved it to the nuts, then realized the transfer case was in low. Lol Good old 203 transfer cases.

Nice videos I love your truck.. I’m also doing a ls swap in my 74 k5 it has also a np 203 and a 350 transmission.. but I’m using a 4l60e transmission and a no241 transfer case I like the idea of the overdrive transmission..

We all make simple mistakes like that. Glad you figured it out. It happens. Just gotta laugh and keep on trucking. I made a pull on the highway in my mustang once. It blew off a vacuum cap I had on the intake manifold. Started running like shit. (MAF car) I thought I blew it up. Kinda foreshadowing in my case. I ended up pushing a head gasket a few months later.

It happens but you should look into a np205 transfer maybe a 700r4 and installing lock-in hubs you’ll thank me 👍

i did this axact swap to my 83 k10 BEST THING i ever did to it couple of pointers i did i used a brand new 03 1500 radiator locked right in had to move the upper rad mounts and get step down compression fittings for the trans lines also ebay sold a cold air for like 30 bucks that fit the truck perfectly oh and used the maf with built in ambient temp sensor... i would like to know what software ur using and if its a little simpler then pcm hammer and tuner pro

Dick, I own the '76 k10. I bought it from some dude in Texas, I guess the person you sold it to. I can't believe I came across your videos. Very cool. What did the LS come out of?

That’s awesome, glad to hear you have it that’s a good one! I miss it. I believe a 2004 tahoe. It was a real nice motor. 228/230 cam, valvesprings, and a hughes converter 👌
