Changed my mind about Pollard after looking at Wikipedia which the article is fair and balanced giving all sides about Pollard. Pollard was engaging in this for profit and it wasn't just for Israel and he had many problems before this and in fact others felt he shouldn't have security in the first place but threatened to sue. He was a drug user and constantly made blatant lies to get certain positions. Did he deserve 30 years? Maybe not. But he certainly did much more then just pass a few secrets to Israel and did far more harm then good. He is no hero and people should look at the Wikipedia article which seems balanced to me as he wasn't this model worker that was just doing his job but then just to help Israel he decided to break the law when the USA was withholding info. Just not true by reading about his background as a whole and the fact he did engage in espionage for other countries as well simply for his own self gratification and not as some Israeli or American patriot. NOT A GOOD PERSON POLLARD TO SAY THE LEAST.

+Ken Gardner Well now that I looked up some of the sources at the Wikipedia article II have to go back to what I originally was taught to believe about Pollard and that was his crime was passing classified information to Israel, an Ally, and this normally carries a 2- 5 year sentence but due to hatred of Jews who practice Judaism and care about Israel an unfair unjust sentence of life was given to Jonathan.

+Ken Gardner For example looking at another article that also was critical the fact he didn't pass a lie detector about taking drugs doesn't mean he did so. Lie detectors can be inaccurate. Also the other claims in the article about him spying for other countries also if true the prosecution would have certainly had this as part of his crime as otherwise they would be accused of an unfair sentence and they had to know that and if they had real evidence of claims made in this Wikipedia article of course they would have gone after him about it. So my original assessment stands that this was an unfair unjust sentence that deserved 2-5 years and not 30 years. And the other claim that they violated the plea deal all they really said him and his wife at the time Anne was that they felt that Israel was entitled to the information and that certainly doesn't make the dangerous in general to just give away secrets. It isn't their decision but it doesn't make him someone who would give info just to anyone.

what would you do if your brother sister son daughter father mother betrayed you? for money? for cocaine? execute them.

meeg_2005 HIs motivation was not for money. If it was he wouldn't have been driving a car that was five years old. And speak for yourself. Maybe you would execute your father and mother and brother and sister if they did anything that in your eyes was betrayal. I guess mercy and a punishment fitting the crime is meaningless to you and you feel any time someone betrays you just kill them. You sound like a danger to your own family.

I have been praying for this day and for his health for many many years, and I am very happy this day has arrived. I am not happy that he will not be joining us here in our Israel for the next five years. But as the Psalms say, "Many are the thoughts of man, but the will of G-d is what will prevail". We pray that he will come home with all our Jewish brothers and sisters.
