Ended up having to get a bigger machine huh? Yeah, the mortar is tough. We use a ride on floor scraper for big areas but the demolition hammers come in handy for small areas. One thing I’ve learned is to get the mortar wet. If you use something like a pump sprayer (like what you would spray weeds with outside) fill it with hot water and spray the mortar really good, let it sit for about 20 mins and it comes up a lot easier. Less dust too
