OMG I played this all the time at my grandma’s house as a kid! Totally forgot it was a thing. I loved the Hula Twins one.

I did tech support for Berkeley Systems back in the late 90's, but don't recall this as being one of the titles we supported (or maybe it was so rare, we never got calls on it). I think it was just After Dark screensaver packages, the Espresso calendar/organizer software and the You Don't Know Jack games (I think I still have some pre-release copies of that). The most annoying calls were from cocky 'power users' who were running Windows NT on their home computers and wondering why the software had issues or wouldn't run at all. It was fun pointing out that the packages didn't indicate Windows NT compatibility (there was a logo for that for compatible software to use) and specifically only listed Windows 3.x/95/98 requirements (though some would argue Windows NT 3.5.1 was "Windows 3.x"), so we couldn't help them.

FUN FACT: Some of the sound effect assets used in this title are also featured in the game EVERQUEST. For example, the dog sound is also the sound Gnolls make and the "chime" sound from the pool table is the same sound you'll hear coming from Pixies. To my understanding - many of these sound assets are in the public domain (much like those in the original DOOM) so a keen ear will hear them in many other videogames, TV Shows and movies!

I'm in the nastoglic camp. After Dark games was a early childhood obsession of mine. They are so weird to me they feel like a dream now.

Grandparents still own this and they still install it on everything new PC they get, oh the classics

*_Toaster run has been buried in my mind for nearly a decade and a half._* I distinctly remember the image of the toaster with wings flying out of a window in a computer game WAY back (for me) when I was like five. I think my sister was playing that game. I remembered that for years, wanting to find it but knowing nowhere to look. A year ago, I found a CD case advertising After Dark screensavers on the back, but not a game. I immediately recognized the toaster, but since it was a screensaver and not a game, I dismissed that image in my mind as only a fabrication by my imagination. I stopped believing this game existed. Now I see it thirteen years later on my KZfaq feed, confirming what I wanted to believe all those years. Thank you, Clint. I finally know I'm sane.

These games really remind me of the old Neopets flash games. In both game variety and quality.

My uncle had this game and I played soo much of this during Christmas! Saved me from having to socialize during the holidays and I am so grateful.

omg i cant believe you covered after dark games and i never knew about it. i usually just watched ur sims stuff lol. i was born in 2000 and my whole fam would play after dark games religiously. i always got stuck on mahjong because i was like 4 and didnt understand. but HULA GIRL AND TOASTER RUN WAS THE JAM.

I remember this, we got it shortly after our first PC. Loved it. We had it alongside Hoyle's Board/Card games.

Allow me to make your day trivia tastic! Rodger Dodger was an AD 4.0 screensaver. The Games version is an updated port on a smaller resolution. The Bad Dog, Hula Girl, and Roof Rats games are present in 4.0 as well (at least the Plus version). In fact, many of the games reference the 4.0 version, although Mooshu includes older references as well (such as the mime in Mime Hunt from Totally Twisted, who was also on the TV during the Toaster Run clip).

Oh my gooooosh. I spent so many hours, nay, days in these games as a kid. This was part of what got me obsessed with screensavers. I miss when screensavers were special and people cared about them and made fun little things like this.

I was a colorist on that Bad Dog cartoon, with Silicon Graphics machines. Boring job, ugly cartoon. I didn't even know it came from After Dark.

There was a screensaver from the 90s called Johnny Castaway that was literally some guys adventures on a stranded island. Way before Tom Hanks made it into a movie. Oh how I loved watching the screen saver as a kid.

Holy crappppp you just made me realize we had this on our computer in the early 2000s! I had no idea/recollection until I seen this video. I remember spending all day on the computer playing these. I think they came already installed. I thought they were sooo cool. Man, that's crazy how things just come back to you !

As soon as I saw the video in my Subscriptions feed, I just had to watch. I fondly remember playing After Dark Games as a kid both at my grandparents' house and my parents' house. It's a bummer that it's not available for newer computers (not that I know of), because I would like to play these games again. I played Roof Rats the most out of all the games.

Anyone else here want after dark to return today? Granted screensavers have no point now, but they were pretty to look at; imagine having them on your pc today, throw in a new game collection and we're gold! Or another idea, someone contact GoG and get after dark games on there!

I remember the flying toasters from my school computer but have very few memories of any of the others. Still, this was a delightful look at some neat mini-games from a cool source, which is the type of thing I love about this channel.

We used to play the game in our elementary school computer lab. The Flying toaster mini game was the one of the best mini game. Roger dodger is like Chips challenge, looks good.

I remember playing After Dark Games on my old Pentium deskop. It wasn't until recently that i rediscovered the games thanks to your video. The nostalgia is real.

This was terrific! I was never fortunate enough to get any "After Dark" screen saver games and the lawn mowing one looks especially awesome (along with navigating a flying toaster. I was almost wondering if the toaster would get fried if it landed in the bathtub).

I get you about the lawn mowing. Theres a mini game in Bully where you mow a lawn in a time limit to get paid more. Its sooooo satisfying to do!!

I was born in 2001, but seeing the After Dark visuals as a kid really stuck with me. Same thing with other media from the 90's, like The Gate to the Mind's Eye, Rayman, and surreal 90's cg art made with programs like Bryce. I love the flying toasters, I'd like to get a tattoo of one someday.

I used to play this on my parent's first PC! The Lawn Mower game and Flying toaster were definitely the best ones on there. The trivia game was absolutely impossible for me when I was five.

Wow this is a blast from the past, the school library had these games installed on all the Apple Macintosh computers in the computer lab. I fondly remember playing foggy boxes and Mowin’ man

I remember I was about 4 years old when I played this on a Windows Millennium computer. I also used to enjoy another game called Wild Wheels and Rollercoaster Factory 3 which were absolutely wonderful games. This was a great video as always. After Dark is a bit of Nostalgia for me. The Bad Dog screensaver was something I would watch when it started on our Macintosh when I was just a baby. Hell the words “bad dog” were my first words as a toddler
