I can see this working more for graphic stuff than for faces, because it doesn't really pick up on the volume of the face and feels more like embossed surface details on a photo of a face. Cool technique

Proper "conventional" delighting needs depth maps, not just tangent space normals generated from a diffuse component. So you're stuck with that crude approximation, unless you can extract that information from your (stereo) camera rig or generate it from parallax/motion(via tracking software etc.).

It works for commercials and low budget short films where the vfx is not that big of a deal

It works fine, the rest methods are also fake. The only realistic methods would be either do the lighting in real life or create a 3D model of the actor (entire model) because other plugins just do face morph & are impractical in film production, since light surface scattering on face & not clothing or other objects doesn't work so you have to fake it again. Even the 3D lighting method is also flawed.

예전에 공간스캔 데이터를 에펙에 넣고 라이팅을 주니 실제로 반응하는걸 보고 인물 리라이팅도 어찌 잘 해보면 되겠다 싶었는데, 대박이네요. depth scanner같은 툴도 쓰면 아주 재밌는 작업이 가능할 것 같아요. 노멀맵을 인식시키는 플러그인이 있을줄은 몰랐는데 감사합니다. 항상 놀랍습니다...

With an image You can also just create a normal map right in photoshop, Go to filter, 3D and select create normal map, then adjust to your liking and export easy.👍 Great tutorial

안녕하세요 영상과 스틸 사진에서 테스트 해봤는데 영상에서도 문제 없이 적용됩니다. 단, 영상에서는 키라이트나 로토브러쉬로 배경을 제거 해야됩니다. 튜토리얼에선 포토샵에서 간단하게 하였지만 영상은 크로마키가 아니면 로토 브러쉬로 배경을 제거 해줘야 합니다 그뒤 노멀맵을 추출할 때 스틸에서는 '쉐이더 맵'으로 했는데 영상에서는 AE플러그인인 Normal Mapper for AE를 적용하여 알파가 있는 영상을 노멀맵으로 만들어 줘야 합니다 그뒤 튜토리얼과 같은 방식으로 진행하면 영상에서도 적용됩니다^^ 방금 테스트한 프로젝트 파일을 공유해드립니다. 보시고 도움이 되었음 좋겠습니다 프로젝트를 열기전 aescripts.com/normal-mapper-for-ae/ 여기에서 플러그인을 설치 하셔야 합니다 해당 플러그인의 가격은 자신이 정할 수 있는 기부 형식의 플러그인이며 무료로도 사용할 수 있습니다. drive.google.com/file/d/1hYr6j7xMe1xMkAp1eq548Tyc3S0BVYpX/view?usp=sharing

To apply it to your video, you need to: 1. You need to remove the background from your chroma key video or video. 2. Apply Normal Mapper for AE plug-in *In the tutorial, it was a still picture, so I extracted the normal map as a shader map* 3. It is the same as the contents of the later tutorial. I am preparing to make a tutorial on how to implement this effect in a video.

Hi! I noticed that this actually won't create the effect it should. The preview you get in Shadermap is the proper re lighting, which is using the other textures (displacement, specular, ambiet occlusion). Would it be possible to make the re lighting look exactly like it is previewed in shadermap?

안녕하세요 플러그인 설치는 윈도우라면 여기에 설치 하시면 됩니다 C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\7.0\MediaCore 맥이라면 여기에 설치하세요 /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0 플러그인 폴더에 설치 해도 되지만 저 경로에 설치 하게 되면 AE이 버전이 바뀌어도 플러그인을 옮기거나 새로 설치할 필요가 없습니다 그리고 이펙트 창에 nor로 검색해서 Normality가 뜨면 정상적으로 설치된 것이 맞습니다 질문 주신 댓글을 보고 프로젝트 파일을 집과 사무실에서 확인해봤는데 정상적으로 열려 문제점을 파악할 수가 없습니다 ㅠ

hello Normal maps and depth maps are different. Normal maps are maps that affect textures and lighting. A depth map is a map that affects the camera distance. Depth maps cannot be extracted with this software. To extract the depth map, it can be obtained through the After Effects plug-in 'Depth Scanner' or Photoshop 'Neural Filter'. 😊
