You can be a free member or a paying member. Floor started in After Forever at the age of 16 as a background singer but that soon changed as the recognized her amazing talent. She is 23 here at this concert which is a yearly event in the Netherlands, some great bands have been there over the years. Mark Jansen already left 2 years earlier and started EPICA. Joost van den Broek was on keyboards. He is in Ayreon and Star One. He also works as a producer for a lot of bands like EPICA and Floor’s solo stuff. Nice, that Pippi Langstrumpf Pippi Longstocking intermezzo (Swedish children tv early seventies I think). Floor was about 23 at the time of this concert I think. After Forever was first band Floor joined, and lasted until 2009. Then Floor started ReVamp. Late 2012 she went to the USA to help Nightwish finish the tour. Then in 2013 Floor and Troy officially joined the band.

Nice reaction. This song was written by Mark Jansen of Epica when he was part of After Forever. He frequently uses Arabic musical themes in his music and often writes about fundamentalism (Sancta Terra). Epica has also performed this with Simone in concert, most recently at their 20th anniversary concert while performing as their own opening act Sahara Dust (Epica's original name) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hrSqosmXubacoJc.html. Floor was a part of After Forever from 1997 until the band broke up in 2009. She then founded ReVamp in 2010 (wrote most of the music for the first album in 2009) and released their first album. In 2011 she suffered her burnout and ReVamp went on hiatus while she recovered. It was during this time Nightwish called her to join them on tour in 2012 after she had recovered. At the beginning of 2013 ReVamp record their second album which was released in the fall of 2013 after Nightwish's' Imaginaerum tour concluded. It was on tour in the US as an opening act for Sabaton that Floor met her husband Hannes. In 2014 ReVamp went on hiatus again as Floor was recording Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Nightwish and touring in support of the album. In 2016 ReVamp disbanded because Floor realized she couldn't do both Nightwish and ReVamp. So there are several years of overlap between ReVamp and Nightwish.

They did that little intermezzo from a tune of a Dutch tv show for children ' Pippi Langkous' . Floor said " grapje!" to the audience which means little joke in Dutch...The growler was not Mark Jansen but Sander Gommans which was her boyfriend at the time...

After Forever 1995 - 2009 Floor joined at age 16 in 1997 , but then she created Revamp in 2009 but had to put on hold for an year and half because she got burnout (Nervous breakdown) joined Nightwish in 2012 and became a full member with Troy in 2013 but while on break after 1st tour with Nightwish she continued with Revamp but decided in 2015 that she had to end Revamp and commit 100% to Nightwish

Floor doesn't have tattoos at Wacken 2013 with Nightwish either. Got them after the end of the Imaginaerum tour. Has them at the 2015 Wembley concert. After Forever ended in 2009 and Floor started ReVamp, her own band, later in 2009. Had a burn out in 2011 and was contacted late 2012 to join Nightwish on tour. At the end of the tour, she also performed with ReVamp but disbanded in 2016 to devote all her time to Nightwish.

After Forever was Floor's 1st band, in 2009 they stopped. and in 2010 Floor founded Revamp. In Oktober 2012 Floor went to USA/Nightwish to fall-in for Anette. In August 2013 it was announced that she became the singer for Nightwish. As she could not have enough time to put into Revamp the band was dissolved in 2016.

First group Floor was After Forever, where she began singing at the age of 16, After Forever was a Dutch symphonic metal band with strong progressive metal influences.The band relied on the use of both soprano vocals and death growls, in the After Forever group, Floor wrote songs, in this group she used her soprano voice a lot, in songs she mixed soprano vocals with Eastern, Arabic singing and other styles. Floor had a second group, ReVamp, this group was created by Floor, Floor wrote songs, she did almost everything to the smallest detail herself in this group, in this ReVamp group, she could go over death metal growl to full opera singing.

Great reaction souls! Here's some info on my fav band. Saw them together with Nightwish in 2002 and they dwarfed the Finns, quite literally (Floor's not the only tall metalhead in Dutchieland). This song is early After Forever, from their debut album "Prison of Desire". Song written when Mark Jansen (the "brains" of AF) was still in the band. He founded Epica in 2002. The video is from Pinkpop 2004, while Mark and AF "parted ways" in 2002. The lyrics of this song are pretty straightforward. It is abt fundamentalism, specifically Islamic fundamentalism, e.g. "All means are justified for the 'djihad fi sabil Allah'.." and ppl silenced according to orthodox Islamic law. This also explains the "Arabic" opening melody of the song. Floor's vocals follow this pattern (I imagine her singing like a muezzin to call for the listener's attention). I like this direct approach way better than the generic one abt belief systems in general by Tuomas in "Weak Fantasy". Great stuff from Mark Jansen! After grunting Sander Gommans' condemnation of Islamic fundamentalism, After Forever does their little joke, the polka intermezzo. They always did this, and varied according to the country where the gig was played. There are versions, like at ProgPower 2007, where instead of the "Pippi Langkous" theme (P. Longstocking, tv series in Dutchieland, Germany Nordic nations etc), Metallica's "Enter Sandman" is played (now think of Emppu in TGSOE..). There's also a 2007 version at Masters of Rock where Van Halen's "Ain't talking about Love" is the intermezzo. I love those little Easter eggs. Now, because of the joke intermezzo, part of the orig. lyrics is left out. I recommend checking the lyrics studio version if you'd like to check what that's all abt (heretics hanged by power-hungry Islamic fundamentalists). Floor's operatic vocals right after Pippi, cover part of the original lyrics here: "Pusillanimous massacres the order of the day." Then it's double bass chorus to the end. Mainly due to Sander Gommans' health issues in 2007, the band had to take a break in early 2008 and in 2009 they disbanded. That breaking up of AF was a severe blow for Floor to take. In interviews years after the event (e.g. in the Dutch tv reportage done in 2015 at the legendary Nightwish Tampere concert) she named it as a contributing factor to her own burn-out in 2011. Pinkpop is in the Netherlands, & After Forever are from the Netherlands. She was 16 when she joined, & was also studying for several years. Not sure which one is Jansen, they are still friends, & do some work together. She was in a relationship with someone in the band in those years, not sure who. I think Jansen may have been the one that gave her the song ‘Me Without You’, she just released as a single. You guys should take a listen to those. Actually Floor did an hour show at Pinkpop 2022, her new solo stuff, then another show later in the day with Nightwish. You might want to cover that. Next is a ReVamp song. After the After Forever breakup she started her own band ReVamp, & was on a health sabbatical when Nightwish came calling in October, 2012. They knew her from After Forever as they had them to be their opening band in the early two thousands. So she knew them, & Tarja. She was still with After Forever when the Tarja breakup happened in 2005, or they may well have asked her back them with her operatic prowess. Floor didn’t have any tattoos at Wacken 2013. The first time I noticed them were the 2015 shows.

I’m one of the few that actually believes Floors voice was even better back then. Some of her vocal performances live with After forever are mind blowing. Gotta admit I’m not a huge fan of the songs themselves but Floor more than makes up for that!

This song is part of the series "The embrace that smothers" by Mark Jansen that he started when he was part of After Forever and later continued with Epica. The song was also performed by Epica in their early days (and for their 20th anniversary) with Simone singing, and still later, it was performed by MaYAN, another band founded by Mark Jansen and featuring Floor, Simone and Laura Macri singing.

Epica did Follow in the Cry at their 20th anniversry show 2 months ago. Mark Jansen was a writer for that on AF first Studio Album.

The part of the song you spoke of was part of a Swedish children's song. Pippi Longstocking was made into several films and a TV series. The song and movies, as well as the TV series, were also very popular in Finland.

After Forever was a good band with a lot of talent and if you like metal you sooner or later came across it, too bad there is not a lot of great video material. I do love to see young Floor doing her thing. After Forever members are still friends and collaborate with each other. In February 2009, it was announced that After Forever had disbanded. Singer Floor Jansen and keyboardist Joost van den Broek both collaborated again in ReVamp and Star One, before Jansen eventually joined Nightwish as lead singer in 2013. Former rhythm guitarist Mark Jansen founded Epica in 2002 after his departure from After Forever and, in 2010, founded MaYaN, which included former After Forever members Sander Gommans and Jack Driessen. Great reaction. I love seeing Floor in her early 20s as she has already experimented with her voice and found many of the capabilities she still uses today. My favorite After Forever song is called "Dreamflight" There is a YT performance kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fah8nshl38u-pX0.html where it is live at a Prog Rock show in the USA back in the day. The band is great and about halfway thru the song the band eases back and lets Floor cut loose with one of the most hypnotic vocal solos ever. Enjoy.

Floor is already a talented singer at this young age. what's good comes fast we say in the Netherlands. The hoempa pa part was a joke it is the title song of Pippi Longstocking a children's series from Sweden that aired on Dutch of television.

Pinkpop is organised since 1970, every year, and it has nothing to do with the color Pink. It is always in the week end of Pentecost, and the Dutch for this is Pinksteren. It is in Landgraaf in the very south of the Netherlands and borders Germany, and interesting for US reactors/viewers, it is only a few miles away from Margraten, The Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial is the only American military cemetery in the Netherlands. The cemetery site has a rich historical background, lying near the famous Cologne-Boulogne highway built by the Romans and used by Caesar during his campaign in that area. The highway was also used by Charlemagne, Charles V, Napoleon, and Kaiser Wilhelm II. In May 1940 Hitler's legions advanced over the route of the old Roman highway, overwhelming the Low Countries. In September 1944, German troops once more used the highway for their withdrawal from the countries occupied for four years. The cemetery's tall memorial tower can be seen before reaching the site, which covers 65.5 acres. From the cemetery entrance visitors are led to the Court of Honor with its pool reflecting the tower. At the base of the tower facing the reflecting pool is a statue representing women who have suffered loss. To the right and left, respectively, are the visitor building and the map room containing three large, engraved operations maps with texts depicting the military operations of the American armed forces. Stretching along the sides of the court are Tablets of the Missing on which are recorded 1,722 names. Rosettes mark the names of those since recovered and identified. Within the tower is a chapel. The light fixture in the chapel and the altar candelabra and flower bowl were presented by the government of the Netherlands and by the local provincial administration. For anyone out there thinking about trying the Floor Jansen "windmill" with your hair take note. Do not try it standing upright with your neck! (it hurt's the next day). Pay attention to her stance. Legs wide, bent at the waist and hands on her hips for support. She is swinging from the waist and not the neck. She is doing it the right way. That is how she can do it so much and take a neck injury. Do this the wrong way and will have whiplash in your neck! Be safe, be happy, and have fun! 🤗

Why would that interlude be Finnish? LOL After Forever literally has nothing to do with Finland. AF was a band from The Netherlands with all Dutch members. Floor is also Dutch if you didn't know.... This concert was performed at Pinkpop wich is a Dutch music festifal that has been around since the 60s.

Floor's not religious, so I don't think she will want any prayers, however sincerely intended.
