I always felt this show was Ricky thinking about life after Jane.

Played a very different character in GOT. Excellent actor. But the exGOT actor (Walder Frey) who is really astounding is David Bradley as Tony's dad.

More psychologist than psychiatrist. "Tony" is my spirit animal, except he has a defined reason for his depression, I don't have one that anyone can find. I've endured chronic, treatment resistant major depression for over 30 years, seen many, many psychologists and psychiatrists over that time. Endured just about all the medication, processes psychiatrists can prescribe, including ECT. None have worked, I'm just waiting for "natural causes' like "Tony". I usually feel much, much worse after a session with a psychologist than I did before the appointment, and that's an achievement most times. IMHO they are the naturopaths of the psychiatric profession.

I reckon that Mike Strutter is why Mr Gervais hired Paul Kaye to do this part.

Would love to have a serie show just with that psy as the main character, a bit like In Treatment but as extremely vulgar and hilarious

No you absolute melt, it's because it's a ridiculously unrealistic character that makes the entire show dumber. Absolutely no one would keep going to a psychiatrist that bad over and over again for three seasons. @@lor7780

Sure, he's toxic, but that's the point, isn't it? People like him do exist in this world and look at him, he's the most pathetic person, his life is so miserable, probably a waste a space at this point - which is ironic given how he belittles his patients, calling them 'pathetic'. That's the point of his character. This show takes p*ss out of these entitled alpha male who have a warped sense of masculinity, and it's so funny to look at people like him. His patients throughout the show are living life, through good and bad - like a journey but the psychologist has no life, nothing to live for. His qualifications and position doesn't amount to much as a result. Viewers can look at their own lives and realise that they're lucky that they're not just some walking sack of sperm and nothing else 😂😂😂
