Michael is a homeless man in Traverse City, Michigan. After Michael's five-year-old son had died, he lost everything and crashed into homelessness.
Michael has been sleeping outside for over ten years now. He says he finds work when he can, but finding a place to stay is hard.
Listening to Michael share his story is heartbreaking. You can feel his pain! Relationships play a significant role in the cause homelessness. When someone goes through trauma, we need to be there to provide support.
Special thanks to Ryan Hannon and Goodwill Northern Michigan's Street Outreach www.goodwillnmi.org/homeless-h...

About Invisible People:
Since its launch in November 2008, Invisible People has leveraged the power of video and the massive reach of social media to share the compelling, gritty, and unfiltered stories of homeless people from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. The vlog (video blog) gets up close and personal with veterans, mothers, children, layoff victims and others who have been forced onto the streets by a variety of circumstances. Each week, they're on InvisiblePeople.tv, and high traffic sites such as KZfaq, Twitter and Facebook, proving to a global audience that while they may often be ignored, they are far from invisible.
Invisible People goes beyond the rhetoric, statistics, political debates, and limitations of social services to examine poverty in America via a medium that audiences of all ages can understand, and can't ignore. The vlog puts into context one of our nation's most troubling and prevalent issues through personal stories captured by the lens of Mark Horvath - its founder - and brings into focus the pain, hardship and hopelessness that millions face each day. One story at a time, videos posted on InvisiblePeople.tv shatter the stereotypes of America's homeless, force shifts in perception and deliver a call to action that is being answered by national brands, nonprofit organizations and everyday citizens now committed to opening their eyes and their hearts to those too often forgotten.
Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the way we think about people experiencing homelessness.

I was a police officer in a small town in south ga. There was a woman that walked the street. She wasn't a prostitute. She had a drinking problem. I always gave her respect. One day, I found out the history of this woman. She was highly educated. College degreed. Found out her baby died in her younger yrs. She lost her mind. Before you jumped to conclusions of someone. Look outside the box. Because inside is a heart ❤ that may had been broken.

I lost my only son 1266 days ago. He was 19 and just beginning to spread his wings. He was killed by an 80 year old driver who “thought he had enough time to cross the Hwy). I too have lost my mind. My heart is shattered into a million pieces. I wake every single day, wishing it were over before it even begins. You spend most of the day trying to process the pain until you fall asleep, to then wake up to the very same misery. I don’t wish this on anyone, not even my worst enemy.

Cajun Viking Sami & Company I'm incredibly sorry for your loss and that society has been extremely insensitive and unrealistic. I want you to know that you do not need to do things on your own. Jesus wants you to lean on Him. He wants you to repent and trust in Him. He loves you, He is continually knocking on the door of your heart, open up to Him and He will change your life, I promise you. He is not about a religion, knowing Him is about having a relationship. Repentance and trusting in the Lord is the greatest thing we can do because Ge not only gives you peace, friendship, love, faith, happiness, joy but He gives you everlasting life. I love you and I care about where you'll spent your eternity. Today is the spray of salvation. Jesus said "come to me all you who are weary and heavy burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. " Be blessed 💛

I had suicidal ideations and never understood why my parents felt so distraught about it. I told them I’d rather die instead of having to bury them. But my family assured me that is not the way it should ever be. My parents told me if anything were to ever happen to my siblings and I, they wouldn’t know what to do anymore. So I’ve convinced myself to get help immediately so that my family don’t feel the pain of losing a loved one... it’s tough. But I must try hard to live for them. I just question the world a lot and feel like everyone is against me. I can’t ever sleep... o well.

I don't have children either but it's simple to understand. Every individual only lives once. When someone dies their time is done and theres no undoing death. Having another son doesn't replace the loss he's faced because it's not about losing a son, it's about losing the individual who was his son. It's not being a father that he misses (if it was it would be as simple as just have another kid) but losing the soul that can't be replaced.

When I was a cop there was a tweaker that we dealt with a lot that we nick named Richard Ramirez, cause he looked like the infamous serial killer. I always thought he was just a pain in the ass until one night I met his brother in law. I learned that at one time he was a successful business and family man who lost his son and wife in a car accident while he was driving. The brother in law (Her brother) tried to help him but the loss was too much and sent him over the edge. Talk about feeling like an asshole. I apologized to him and always made it a point to never judge anyone after that. He died a few years later. I’d like to think that he finally found peace. Litivious Spartus society has been extremely insensitive and unrealistic.

Same thing with some mothers... The bond between some mamas and their sons are super strong! Loss of a child overall, whether sons are daughter, is overwhelmingly painful. The only difference I’m aware of, is that it’s much easier for us women to “open up” about our pain! When it comes on to a father, he may feel obligated to show strength, instead of his pain. Therefore it can be extremely painful when the pain is there trapped on the inside, brewing.... I’m sending love to anyone who’s lost a child 💕💙🙏🦋
